Have all the control schemes been revealed?

As much as I love bumper jumper, I've gotten pretty comfortable with the Jumper configuration in Destiny.
I still can't believe Bungie didn't care to include even one Halo-like control scheme in Destiny. Although seeing the amount of shitty design decisions and overall lack of options in that game it shouldn't be that surprising, I guess.

BTW, has 343 said anything about Firefight in Halo 5?

Man...fucking gaming side Halo threads. I'm so glad that HaloGAF exists.

When did gamers become so fucking cynical and hate-filled?

Liking everything I've seen so far for Halo 5. I particularly like the very clear divide between arena and warzone.

Who has signed up to do the OT for the game? Have decided I'd like to do another Halo 5 HaloGAF Community Montage for the thread if I can persuade whoever is doing it to give up a bit of space. That is, of course, if you guys were happy with my previous work?

Haven't halo threads been locked before for shitting on gaming side?

No one here is special. We're all nerds posting on a forum.

The Sprint was great. I'll have to catch on the beta ones, missed them.
There's nothing better than that to fully understand what it's like inside a studio working on a AAA game like Halo.

make a jail to punish quitters. your name is marked with a jail symbol and can only play with other quitters until you complete X amount of games without quitting.

i stole this idea from killer instinct.

very loud question.
They're always launching the game with stuff missing, why.
Who knows. We keep giving them out money anyway. Like battered spouses. Halo 5, 9.8/10

Great idea.

The problem isn't just people quitting several times a day, it's that they quit at all. That's why you need harsh punishments, but also a way to reconnect to a game that's not over yet. People don't give a shit about 15 minute bans, especially not if it takes 3 quits to get to that point. That's why the CSGO method works, people sure as hell don't want to get locked out of the competitive mode for 24 hours, let alone a week. People also actually care about their ranks so they are less compelled to quit out as it counts as a double loss (if not worse).

Can confirm. When I play competitive CSGO I never quit no matter the score. If you want real results then you need real penalties. Having a ban plus a derank is appropriate. Make people lose XP and if it deranks them then make it so they can't wear that armor reward they leveled up to get. Seriously, quitting needs to be a really bad idea. If you drop connection then allow me to reconnect to the game.

Ike Amadi is his name, he confirmed on Twitter he was the VA. He's the guy doing that ALL HAIL #TeamLocke commercial.

yeah IDK. Maybe they didn't like Nightfall, either lmao

So I wanted to post this yesterday but didn't manage to do it because Bacardi.

Loved the sprint episodes. It's really cool seeing behind the scenes how everything is done, the problems the team has to deal with, the limitations they work with, and the fun they have. There are a few things in particular that I noticed.

Breakable Doors

Not entirely sure what the point of these are. On the one hand, I love the idea of destructible environments. On the other though, there isn't really anything about these that change up the gameplay. Even assuming you can't destroy these walls with weapons or explosives and can only use the Spartan Charge to take them down, it doesn't seem that they hold any real value because you can take them down in one hit. They aren't something for the other team to really gaurd because they can be taken out so easily. They don't seem to be all that secretive so it likely won't open up cool ambush points either.

I'm not against the idea. Having random destructobits in the maps could be a fun novilty. Also I find it hilarious that the guy was worried about two players seeing each other and playing chicken despite the radar telling you exactly where they are anyway (relative height and all).

Legendary Weapons (Mythic?)

I'm hoping that this isn't just a reskin thing. I love the idea of Legendary weapons, but if stuff like Linda's Sniper and Kelly's Shotgun are what we should expect them to be, that's kind of lame. The Prophets Bane (while looking kinda stupid imo) atnleast has its own identity. Meanwhile LS and KS are essentially just pallete swaps. I'm hoping they make all of the Legendary weapons uinque counterparts to their base weapon designs.

I could be misunderstanding something though so please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Visors

I wonder if the interior of visors will be affected at all like how they are in single player. Naturally the outer edge bits won't be in multi like in campaign (or at least I would think so) but the design of the HUD could be a cool attention to detail.

Destructible Promethean Armor

Just wanted to touch on this real quick, during the Sprint vidocs I noticed a Knight seemed to be missing the stage right half of its back shell thing. I wonder if we will be able to destroy individual pieces of enemy armor which will reduce their abilities (similar to how destroying a Vex's headpiece will disable its special ability). If so that could be pretty cool for combat and as an indicator of how damaged the enemy is.

It's (regular) Human Season

For the first time in Halo history it looks like we are going to fight (as an objective instead of just the lulz) humans that aren't Spartans. Now this could just be a multiplayer only thing in which case it really doesn't hold anymore meaning than fighting Spartans. I do find it interesting though. Can't help but wonder if this means we will fight some human insurrectionists or even the UNSC... I highly doubt it though.

All in all that was a kickass series of episodes. I hope there's more in the future.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Can't wait to shoot it up with all of you cool cats in next gen Halo goodness.

I like how Sonic is expressly visible in the pics haha.
Never forget

I wonder if it'll be among the first backwards compatible titles for the One

I get the impression acting and voice acting are two very different disciplines. Colter was fine in Nightfall (he had very little to go on with that script) and he's Marvels Luke Cage so he definitely has the acting chops, but as far as acting with your voice goes, in the mocap scenes of The Sprint, his line delivery sounded so flat compared to the voice actors around him.

Amadi just about sells these pulpy ass lines in that live ad, like he sounds like a legit rival for Chief.

Maybe it was logistics issue, I mean Colter's all over the place in TV shows and shit, and now he's Luke Cage. Maybe they thought he was too cornball in H2A and were like, "Well we can't recast now he's the face and he's done all this mocap, but we can change the voice on some Darth Vader James Earl Jones shit".

Either way, I approve

wtf that Ghost redesign

Wow so it's really confirmed that Locke has a different VA? Honestly, I felt his performance was pretty forced/awkward. VA is a whole different beast especially when it's a video game. I wonder why they choose him to begin with or what caused the decision. Kinda makes you feel bad for him.

I think it's because most of the Covenant tech we're seeing is a lot closer to home and thus is coming out more refined and ornate, rather than being the more militarized mass-produced sort of stuff you saw in the original trilogy. They had to manufacture weapons and vehicles hundreds of thousands of light years away from their original homes, and it probably wasn't worth doing anything but practical stuff on ships.

I can totally see that. And that's how an artist would contextualize it. But as more of a player, I don't see the point.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
The new Wraith is just as... different.

Not sure if I like or dislike either tbh. Looks close enough that it's the same lineage.

I like the new Spirit with the individual teeth folding things.

Plasma Rifle replacement was more egregious. :(

i feel pretty indifferent abut most of the changes 343i has made to the look of classic halo things, but that dropship animation is fucking rad.

The wraith is probably not final. I mean, maybe I didn't see it clearly, but it almost looked like a skeleton, missing multiple parts.

Something clearly changed. It would be nice to get clarification on it

Locke tries to do a ground pound, but John chops off Locke's arms and legs in one swipe. Locke spontaneously combusts, but survives and requires permanent breathing assistance.

mm... Yeah, more skeletal. The back of it seemed like the biggest change when it turned around in the ViDoc - thought maybe it was one of those gameplay things where you can shoot off the armour plating bit by bit to expose the gun/gunner. :)

Slightly Live

Dirty tag dodger
The Covenant alien re-designs are pretty much lowest tier generic alien BS, but I really like how the ghost looks. Hopefully they will clean up the terrible scifi fart sound from Halo 4.

The new Banshee looks baller too (going to ignore the possible lock on BS).

Any good images of the Wraith?

I have gotten accustomed to the new designs already.

It's funny how immensely attached we get to fictional objects (I totally get it). Just look at the outrage from Star Wars fans when they revealed a light saber has a hilt. I just don't know what the purpose is behind drastic changes to beloved designs.

I suppose it's like musicians changing their style or genre because it allows them to enjoy music again. Art is somewhat of a selfish expression.
