Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Some notes:

I think the game may stutter more if you change shadow/detail options in-game.
It also seems like this thing stutters more the more you play it. After changing graphical options to normal, I restarted the game and it seemed like it was zipping along just fine...but then after some playtime it started stuttering again.
My HDD is constantly being accessed, even when I'm sitting still doing nothing. I'm convinced the performance problems are linked directly to streaming issues, probably their DRM shit, who knows. I get 50-60fps...as long as I don't move LOL. It seems like the performance of the game would be fine if it wasn't for the constantly horrible stuttering mess.

Sounds like this is a wait for the all the patches a year from now with a GOTY version with all the DLC bundled situation.

The little I played of this last night ran fine. I do have a pretty good PC though.

I5 4670k
16gb ram
GTX 980
GTX 570 as dedicated PhysX card

2 of the gameworks settings were greyed out for me though and wouldn't let me enable them.

Hmm... I'm using bluetooth. Zakalwe, are you using wired? I'd hate to have to plug this damn thing in all the way across the living room just to be able to use my controller.

Do you have "Hide DS4" checked? If you don't, you should probably close Steam and do that.

It's going to be interesting if they found a way to screw up ds4 support wirelessly. I wouldn't put anything beyond 'em.

Damn, what a mess. Warner should be avoided by EVERY PC player regarding pre-orders or day 0 buy.

I love your avatar

Its funny how I remember Arkham Origins and City at least had a myriad of Graphical Options, the number of Options on PC really shows how much work the developers put into this port .

Definitely, try playing the harley quinn segment, it runs perfectly because it doesn't do any streaming.

That was my plan all along. Although it wouldn't surprise me if we got another Deus Ex situation where the GOTY version is based on an older build or some shit.

Been pretty good for me. Using latest drivers to unlock all options, average 57 fps on Benchmark all max 1080p with a 780ti mildly overclocked, 17 2600k and 16GB. I'm getting bouts of stutter every so often seemingly randomly but it's smooth most of the rest of the time. Room for improvement sure but nowhere near as bad as I was expecting especially the batmobile sections!

Yes, but also remember how Arkham City ran like shit (and still does for many) with DX11 enabled.

And then the MK X burn.....

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I'm not hopeful on the game becoming much better after seeing MKX but at least there is a little hope for the Linux version:

ZkCZjd4.png

The game ultimately running better on Linux than Windows would be amusing.

Anyone with a Dualshock 4 using DS4Windows having issues getting their controller to work? I've never had a single issue with any game but I can't get Arkham Knight to work. It seems to detect that I have a Dualshock 4 connected, but it doesn't detect any of my input.
Connect the controller after you've gotten to the start screen. Only way I could get it to work.

Not sure what the fuss is about. I'm running a 2nd gen i7, 8gb of ram, and a EVGA GTX 980SC and the game is beautiful. I running at 1080p and getting 45 - 75FPS with everything maxed and Nvidia gameworks turned on.

I seriously think this is the best looking game this gen, even surpasses Witcher 3 which is absolutely beautiful too.

I had a buddy at work bitching about performance issues and only getting 15fps, but he was running a min spec cpu and a 760 and all settings at max....told him he was a dumb ass and moved on.

My other buddy is running a 4th gen i7, 16gb of ram, and a 780ti and consistently about 60fps... People with performance issues seriously makes me doubt their rigs.

Not saying there aren't bad PC ports...(Ubisoft anyone?) ...but I don't believe this to be one of them. Sure a few patches may fix some things but over all it's a beautiful experience.

The problem with pc gaming is every rig is different AND everyone's skill level and understanding is different yet everyone expects a pc game to run 60fps out of the box on all hardware or consistent like a console.

In short some people shouldn't be apart of the master race and get a console. :)

Yeah, MSI Afterburner was reporting my vram usage as 4,194,304 MB...lol.

I just ran it with the fps unlocked with one of my 980 Ti's @ 1440p on my G-Sync monitor, and the framerate was anywhere from the mid-30's to 110fps. The biggest drop was from 75 to 35fps in the batmobile, and even G-Sync couldn't help this games sorry arse. It's like the game engine just shat itself, it was jerky as hell. I guess it's a streaming issue like Maldo said.
Mind you, it will run at a rock-solid 30fps @ 4K on a single 980 Ti. Too bad it's the year 2015 and a 30fps lock on a PC game is a fucking joke. It still crashes everytime I exit as well. I'm just glad I didn't pay for the fucking thing.

..lmao

Ok, I have a 4790K, 16gb RAM and a 980 Ti.

You're telling me I can run this on a rock solid 30fps at 4K ?

Any graphical tweak other than unlocking FPS on ini file and then capping with msi afterburner?

Enlighten me please?!

Well I can't because I bought an Nvidia code and those don't come with pre-order stuff lolz. At least for this game it seems like its completely separate from the main campaign, right?

Witcher 3's Old Build was an Upgrade. LOL.

Not for me. I haven't gotten a single performance hit by any of the patches, if anything the game runs better than it did on launch for me these days. It's kinda fucked up how some people got crazy pop in and lost frames though :/.

I wish everyone could have the smooth experience I've had ;-;

Would be somewhat funny if the Linux port of a console game run way better then the Win version.

Time to install SteamOS :lol

I think they should change the highest texture setting name from "normal" to "ultra high". People would be happier.

Better yet, name it "PC Textures". A little white lie to keep people happy.

The fact that so many more people are reporting that the game has issues than not shows that you and your buddy are the outliers.

Jesus son, are you made of money? Why not play it on PC for a week or two and then catch it on PS4 on the inevitable sale?

I thought getting a refund from steam and then later on buy the goty edition for PC during a sale would probably work out slightly better.

Are you sure there is not something else going on? With a single Titan X, I am able to play at 45-60 fps in 4K with everything on ultra and gameworks on. That's with the most recent drivers and afterburner running in the background (not over clocked). If you have overclocked, you may be exposing weaknesses with the boost you forced. Try going back to the original state. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), this is part of the PC experience - tinkering. Sometimes I think I spend more time doing that than playing the game.

With SLI Titan X, I have ---fps with everything on ultra and gameworks on in 4K. Buttery smooth! Edit: nope. It's not using the second card for some awful reason. So 45 fps typically.

SLI Titan X super locked edition
I5-3570k at 4.2 ghz
24 gb ram
SSD

You're absolutely right, I did in fact overclock it (75°C on load during heaven benchmark), but I'm using a widely considered safe overclock. This could be the reason for it messing up, however, none of the other new releases and old games I'm playing have any issues. I was also getting close to the 2 hour mark on steam, and I understand that's a cut-off point for the refund. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I sincerely wish I had your experience, but unfortunately it just all went a bit sideways. I do enjoy the tinkering and I'll get back to the PC version much later, but for now I only want to enjoy the game.

So yeah, I hope other people with overclocked gpus will heed your advice and see if that fixes their issues.

I wonder if they take this situation as seriously as Netherrealm took it. MKX afaik was never properly fixed.

Well I can't because I bought an Nvidia code and those don't come with pre-order stuff lolz. At least for this game it seems like its completely separate from the main campaign, right?

It loads into a different map, just like the extra story segments in AC and AO.

So... I'm guessing it's a bad time to jump in..? I have a feeling my 780 Ti will get eaten alive by this game.

My 770GTX is struggling on lowest possible settings. Stuttering is maddening, simply because the game is so much fun to play. I'm going to have to run out and get the PS4 version today.

I'm one of those people that got hit by the pop-in bug , its why I'm waiting for a fix , If it doesn't come I'm playing on the old build.

Game runs fine on my 770GTX with everything I can max maxed out (graphics options are odd and vague).

However... SLI is straight up broken. I get about 20fps or less with SLI 2x 770GTX.

If you are running SLI, this might not be the right time to jump in

I will eat candy real hard until you fix this.

How WB even greenlit this port in this state? and how Rocksteady was ok with this?

They should've delayed it, that better than selling people bad ports.

they flipped on the 30fps lock, quietly updated the min specs 24 hours before release, and walked away innocently whistling very loudly.
