I'm really disappointed in Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE)

It's for more likely the destroyed cityscape dungeon is just another themed dungeon, than anything actually indicative of where the story goes.

That's true, but that one Persona 4 dungeon is indicative of where the story goes. I'm just saying that the possibility that the apparent dungeon with the destroyed cityscape in #FE could be as well is there. Hell, the fact that the dungeons themselves are "fake" (e.g. the clouds in the picture you posted are held by strings on the ceiling) could be indicative of a lot as well, which is what we don't know about the game right now.

Seems like a theme to me, why else would they go for the idol theme?

do you really have to ask

Press Turn system. As was shown in the Treehouse demo

why does everyone keep saying this game has a press turn system? there are turn indicators at the top yeah but all the footage they showed looked more like something out of strange journey, where your allies just add extra damage at times, and you don't really manipulate turns.

Something closer to SMT x Fire Emblem pretty much already exists. It's called Devil Survivor. All it needs are some more Fire Emblem trappings, like perma-death, field recruitment, more map interaction, and classes/weapon types. (It already has better maps/objectives than Awakening lol)

I think Devil Survivor has probably the best system of the SMT games, so I wish they went more in that formula in any case.

I don't seeing the battle have something like extra turn either, your party member move one regardless they hit weakness or not at those treehouse stream.

Wait, when was it said they want this to be a new series? With a Nintendo IP?

I have no idea where the news comes from that this is a Nintendo IP that they want to make subsequent games of, but Atlus has definitely stated that this is a new IP for them.

If it's a new Atlus IP, I'd understand but the Fire Emblem references are entirely owned by Nintendo by extension of Intelligent Systems.

I mean there could be future Genei Ibun Roku games without the FE elements, I suppose, but I wouldn't expect any game with Fire Emblem aspects to not be an Nintendo IP in some form.

Oh, I mainly meant about the part where they want to make more games for #FE after this one. Concerning ownership, yeah, this would definitely be Nintendo's thing because they're the ones publishing the game and because of the Fire Emblem ties. There's a single piece of direct SMT imagery so far with the Jack Frost signs, though.

Same, I was interested when it was just a title but as soon as I saw the game I was out.

basically. just seeing 'SMTxFE' got me hyped, once I actually saw what it was I thought to myself how stupid it was to get hyped off of 6 letters and I completely lost interest.

As a fan of SMT, Persona and Fire Emblem games I admit I am a little disappointed in how this game is turning out but I'm going to give it a go any way. Hopefully it'll be a pleasant game to play. I'm going in knowing it is none of the above mentioned games and something else entirely.

I still don't get what this game has to do with Fire Emblem.
What does Hyrule Warriors have to do with Zelda? Its got Zelda characters a few nods to the series but is very musou in gameplay.

This is the same only more abstract as the Fire Emblem characters are very stylish, you have a weapon triangle (at least I think I heard this mentioned on the treehouse live but seeing as nobody has bought it up over 5 pages), the character stat attributes are all the FE ones (no idea if they're random level ups here too) and I get the feeling combos is trying to be more FE awakening pair-up or trying recreate the gridded maps in an JRPG battle arena (you know how you would attack a boss with multiple units).

Summon Waifus and Husbandus in time of need.
I hate Awakening and Fates for dragging the public perception of this series into the Idea Factory gutter.

Mario X Square

Oh boy oh boy!

...Luigi's Mansion: Chocobo Challenge!
gfs_75572_1_1.jpg

It has such famous FF characters as Black Mage, White Mage and Ninja!
I also love how the game has a different name in each region Mairo SLAM Basketball for Europe.
Shame Mario Sports mix was worse than this in every regard. Even the basketball section...somehow.

I'm with you OP, it sucks that this game looks more like persona.

But as long as there are no boring stuff like social links, I'm still gonna play it.
You get constantly receive texts. It is on the Gamepad so can be ignored and I think is non-interactive regardless.

I like Persona, I also like Fire Emblem... but I don't know, for some reason I cannot get excited for this game. It has to be the visual style, it looks like a terrible crossover fanfic, what with all the ridiculous popstars theme and character designs.

And no, neither Persona nor Fire Emblem was this ridiculous.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Theres no way this is going to be a atlus IP when it has nintendo owned property in it.

It's a wait and see game for me.

I like Devil Survivor and I also like Fire emblem. But ths game looks like a miss after the first trailer. The tree house demo hasn't convinced me otherwise either.

The demon system is a big part of SMT series, which seems to be missing here.

The game might be good fun but they really shouldn't have announced it as a 'smt x fe' game as that creates a lot of expectations that they weren't able to deliver on.

Smt3: nocturne is my favorite rpg ever and it took me years to accept and enjoy P3-4. Persona 4 was already at scooby doo levels of camp this game looks even sillier.

OP, I'm fine with what i saw in gameplay during the E3 Tree House livestream. I think for most going into it, with a background in SMT or FE, need to separate those entities and everything they offer from Illusory Revelations#FE. I suspect themes from these series WILL be in it but WILL BE SUBTLE.

Go in with a fresh perspective, if your going to give this game a chance because it's clear to me this title is it's own thing and will develop its own identity.

I lost interest as soon as I saw the trailer. I love the FE series and enjoyed P4's story, but I can't stand the whole JPOP stuff. Just not my thing.

I don't know OP, the dungeons of the game that were showed during trailer and the Treehouse are giving me a serious case that the game will be told trough them and also note how wildly different are all of them:

Also the city itself is full of details and the team already said that is going to change to reflect the progress of your game.

The thing that I'm really excited tho is that the game is being made by people that worked on SMT: Strange Journey, Devil Survivor, Radiant Historia, etc... so I expected that the gameplay will be godly and the Treehouse confirmed it for me already!

Persona 5 and #FE are two of my most anticipated games this year
after Xeno X of course, =P
, can'T wait =D

Yup, dungeons and bs made the day for me, during the Treehouse.
Dungeons especially gave me a disturbing feeling, also about the "idol" theme.

Agreed. I don't get the appeal of games like Persona at all, nor am I really interested in playing those types of RPGs. Guess I am an old fart who wants his old school JRPGs.

I don't mind high school settings and I love Persona, but I'm a little turned off by the pop idol stuff.

But it's a big console game by Atlus so I'm going to give it a go no matter what.

i see someone mentioned press turn system... wait what? pretty sure press turn system isn't in the game, not in the stream at least
It's more like a neat mix between Pair Up and Press Turn System I think: when you hit an enemy weakness the other characters, even those not participating in battle, can join you and deal damage.

I'm in love with this game. I really can't wait to play it.

I can understand why many here don't like it, but I most certainly do haha.

I'm getting hyped. Very colorful game. The idol stuff is a big part of the game, so it will probably show the good the bad and the ugly of it.

Good people are on this game. I have more faith in it than fates. It's something complety different than I expected tho.

I like both classic SMT and current Persona.
But my expectations for this game had to shift from expecting more of a classic SMT approach to more of a current Persona approach.

Throw in a jpop idol theme, then you really start to distance yourself from what SMT fans want in their SMT game.

It isn't what I was expected therefore I hate it. Personally I'm giving it a chance.

It is nto just aboput what was expected, but also what it turned out to be.
If it didn't turn out how I expected, but still was something that personally appealed to me, I would still be excited. It is just that I don't care for Idol stuff and Persona style games.

I've been waiting for a JRPG with traditional turned based mechanics for a long while now, this game is providing that.

I'm not the sort of person that lets some aesthetic or artistic direction thing get in way of enjoying a game.

If people want to write this game off due to inability to get over the Idol thing when this could very well have solid and excellent gameplay mechanics that is pretty much guaranteed based on the list of individuals behind the project, that's not my problem.

I didn't like it either at first but got over it, could be stupid fun and have interesting systems. Not expecting much though from other aspects.

Nintendo screwed the announcement of this game by making it seem like a crossover when in fact it's more of a new IP inspired by the two series. I'm personally still interested as it seems to scratch a similar itch as Persona whilst being it's own thing. And it's an RPG on Wii U, so I'm in.

But it's not called SMT x FE. What part of the title is dishonest to you?

It boils down to: they shouldn't have announced it so early (two months after design started). You can't blame people for getting hyped about "SMT x FE", that was what the initial teaser sold us.

From what I've seen it seems like a Persona spinoff, certainly not SMT or FE. Especially not FE, at least not in gameplay, graphics, characters and themes; so far I've only seen citations in form of designs and the weapons triangle.

That said, I don't mind the game, will buy it if it turns out well, but it's totally different from what they pitched in the reveal. Nobody could see that coming.

"I don't like this so it should bomb" has to rank up there as one of the worst opinions people post on GAF.
Yeah, even if you don't like the themes (that's basically the only thing people are complaining about seeing as the gameplay is normal SMT) wanting one of the few big budget console JRPGs that is basically a new IP to bomb wouldn't be good for anyone

I think you have to get over the SMTxFE thing. It is what it is at this point.

I was turned off at first, but the pedigree and the actual gameplay videos are really making me interested. It really is a mix of SMT and FE when you really look at it, but through mechanics, not tone.

I agree that I'm disappointed it's not a more dark and serious tone (from what we've seen so far) and I don't like the skimpy outfits, but the gameplay they showed and the people behind it have me excited and optimistic this will turn out great. For all we know, all things could turn to hell later in the game too. Just remember the apocalyptic scene from the first trailer.

That it looks like anime trash

If these sorts of games don't appeal to you, persistently showcasing your disinterest in them? Surely there are games you enjoy you'd rather talk about more?

I recall seeing you post in several Disgaea and Persona threads, nevermind the recent Star Ocean III announcement thread. I honestly don't see the point and it simply comes across as rather non constructive and a waste of time.

Surely there are games you do like and would rather discuss instead of focusing on pointless hate.
