This whole collection feels so wrong on a MS machine...we should be able to play goldeneye and other games like jet force with ir wiimote....

Your attachment to corporations and plastic boxes feels wrong. If Zelda and Mario showed up on a rival console I'd appreciate the convenience, instead of lamenting the fact that things change.

Yeah, it's damn depressing.

Also, having a hard time understanding how each DKC sequel dropped 50% in sales?? :/

DKC came out toward the end of the SNES's lifecycle. The sequels came out very quickly as well (only a year apart). Makes sense they wouldn't sell as well since people just played the previous game or moved on to Saturn/PSX and eventually N64 by the time the third game was out.

I'm just astounded that Rare kept the IPs for their games. The idea of playing games like Blast Corps etc on a Microsoft console is fantastic and fascinating to me.

I just played a bit of rare replay at the Microsoft zone

Only played blast corps but it ran fine , like I was playing my n64 , controls felt great and that damn bomb car/truck

That rare video sing along made it into the game that was featured in the panel.

Saw a kid play battletoads and there's a rewind button for every time you die, we can finally finish the game lol

The chart only considers US sales. If you double each of those sales you'll get roughly the WW numbers for each game (in most cases).

DKC2 launched after PS1 and DKC3 launched after N64. Interest in 16-bit consoles was declining rapidly.

Ah ok, yeah this makes sense.

Spent the evening attempting to make an updated chart, with global sales included.

Enjoy!

...you've really based your chart on VG Chartz? You've missed off Banjo-Toole for Xbox 360 on it too, but even then, 20k for Banjo 1? Hmm, I doubt that very much, not that they have any way of proving it.

Kameo, 330k? Looooool. Kameo made Rare lots of money, as did PDZ.

Couldn't really find the data elsewhere in an easily accessible format.

Figured as long as it was in the general ballpark it would be fine.

Is VG Chartz really that far off?

Sorry, didn't realize they would be that inaccurate.

They make up numbers iirc. The only people who know how much XBLA games sold truly are Microsoft, they pulled it out of their ass.

Kameo did much more than 330k.

Edit: Apologies if I was a bit condescending too.

Its okay, guess I may have wasted an evening.

Do you know of any other location to find actual global sales data.

I've seen some NA numbers in places, but not much for global totals.

I enjoyed quite a few Rare games. I kinda want to pick this up even though I don't own an XB1. I would take a PC release, but we all know that isn't happening. I owned Kameo on launch. It's kinda disgusting they're giving it to you with 29 other games for $30.

I owned quite a few and I also ignored maybe 1 or 2 on the list, but it looks good. I wish they would give you more entries into Battletoads, but once you say 30 you can't include anymore.

I've always been more of Goldeneye fan, but overtime I like seeing other Rare titles. I spent years with that game on N64. There was a lot of garbage on the 64 to be honest. Now that I'm older I see more of the quality some games had. I enjoyed quite a few N64 games, but they were specific. I use to play Waverace every single night and 1080.

I want more collections like this. These were some of the best memories I had maybe 10-20 years ago? Of course some I played before I was a teenager. I enjoyed when these games came out.

Not really, they said about KS being at 8m or 9m early last year on 360 (before KSR launch), not sure we ever got any concrete numbers on N&B and VPTiP, publishers don't talk numbers unless something ridiculously well.

Shame, I find that kind of thing interesting. Wish developers would be more open about it for history's sake.

Glad to know that Rare's xbox titles have been selling better then I listed. Great thing to be wrong about. :)

So VG Chartz really makes up the numbers? I used to rely on their data a lot, but GAF seems to denounce them.

I'd also be interested to see the sales before 1994. Rare had plenty of big games going way back (of course "big" back then was different to "big" now)

There were definitely some bombs, namely Nuts and Bolts, I'm sure how the likes of Jetpac and the XBLA ports (Banjo/Tooie/PD) did and VP2 but Kameo and PDZ certainly did very well (yet no sequels...) and Viva Piñata 1 was a slow burner.

Kinect Sports was some of the most successful titles they've ever had.

I'm probably going to buy a copy of this as soon as it comes out even though I don't have an Xbone and am planning to wait for a slim model/price cut before picking one up.

I just need to have this.

I came up with some projections from NP's old "dealers charts" this afternoon.

NES 1991 Battletoads - 620k (USA)

...may look into some more pre-94 titles....

NES R.C. Pro-Am Racing
NES Marble Madness
NES Anticipation
NES Ivan Stewart's Super Off-Road
NES Ironswords- Wizards & Warriors II
NES Arch Rivals
SNES Battletoads / Double Dragon
SNES Battletoads in Battlemaniacs

Thanks man! Battletoads must have done 1+ million worldwide.

Wouldn't that just be sad and disrespectful, to NCL, Rare wouldn't have been what it was if it had not been for NCL.
What are RARE's feelings about Nintendo since the divorce?

considering Microsoft was open to rare characters in smash brothers they seem like they would be okay with leaving the Nintendo letters in the game. Nintendo would likely be the one that wants it changed since they can be extremely anal about their stuff.

hopefully someone at rare comments on how theyre handling the Nintendo stuff in rares games. I think it should be left as is personally.

Hoping for a Battletoads announcement too but not really holding my breath. It is funny that I am now getting an Xbox One for this game, sure other compelling software too but this is one of the biggest reasons.

Got my Battletoads soundtrack vinyl and 30th anniversary print at Comic-Con this weekend.

Then I played some Blast Corps at the Xbox Lounge.

It was a good weekend.

How does Blast Corps look/run? Well?

UI was obviously made for N64 resolution, but the game itself looked and ran great. No complaints.

While I was playing, the Xbox employee manning the setup was like "Oh, nice taste", then I told him I bought the game the day it came out back in February 1997.

I felt old as fuck.

The problem with Blast Corps and JFG back in the day was the frame-rate.

So long as that's now rock solid, and there's no reason or shouldn't be, the games will be incredible and must for everyone.

There's simply no other game like Blast Corps.
