Just a quick glance, I didn't see this posted yet, so...

ArtsyOmni (of the Smashified series) and Etika (of Etika World Network) have launched a TeeSpring campaign for a shirt based on the artwork Omni created shortly after Iwata's passing. 50% of their proceeds are going to the Child's Play and the other 50% to cancer research (undecided which charity at this time; they're asking for suggestions in the comments of their Youtube video detailing the campaign.) The campaign is active for 9 days and as of right now, there are no plans to continue it beyond this, so you'll be unable to order a shirt after this time period.

T-shirt comes in a black or blue variety and looks like this:

More info on the campaign found here: http://teespring.com/thank-you-iwata#pid=6&cid=619&sid=front

Bought one. Thanks for that.

I've been away without internet for a week so so just heard about this news, I can't believe this actually happened. He was man you could clearly see was passionate about his job. RIP Iwata.

Iwata genuinely believed that making games fun above all else is the way to go, and he really saw the value of reaching out to fans directly; Iwata Asks and Nintendo Directs made people connect with Iwata better than any other executive in the history of the games industry.

He will definitely be missed.

Gonna miss him wholeheartedly. RIP Mr. Iwata.

Love how the gaming community came together to celebrate his life. Great videos from Gamestop and others.

Does anyone have a YouTube link for the Gamespot video?
I'm currently abroad and the wifi isn't that great and it won't load the GS website.

Thank you.

Still shocking almost a week since he passed away...

None of us expected this to happen and I think his early departure matches that of the genius of Gunpei Yokoi. You could tell that both were destined to contribute in very positive ways to the industry.

I just watched Gamespot's tribute video. Wonderfully done, very emotional at the end. :)

R.I.P. Iwata-san.

Man what a great video.

I never thought of the Wii U like that but they absolutely nail it. Nintendo takes risks. They're pretty much the only company that does that anymore. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In a gaming world where the major publishers put out the same games over and over, nintendos making Splatoon and Mario Maker.

Excuse me for posting a lot of pictures... I have muuuch more...but we had a little thing in Ecuador to honor Mr. Iwata. Strong wind and rain were our enemies but still a lot of people showed up anyway and I felt so proud.

It was amazing that in this little country that many of you may not even know about its existence, has a lot of Nintendo fans that respected and loved Iwata so much.

edit: ^ Oh man that's great. Love the pictures, thank you for sharing!

Love seeing all the tribute fan art. I'll post mine again as well because it was swallowed in the thread when it was still moving fast.

Can't believe it's been a week already... :(

Seeing that casket...I can't.

I half expect Iwata to pop out like in that old gif but it's not going to happen. He's there but he's not moving.

Back to mourning I go. :(

I don't know many people in his position who would willingly take a salary cut to limit layoffs within his company and not many have the courage to take accountability for their company's shortcomings or mistakes. Out of all his amazing accomplishments, his character stands out to me the most.

Man, a week later and this still just has me in a state of shock.

Seems completely surreal. Whenever we get another Nintendo Direct, it's going to be reeeeally hard to watch.

Pretty sad to see a person die at this age. Condolences to his family. Looking forward, in the interest of Nintendo employees and gamers worldwide, I sincerely hope that Nintendo will be able to recover from Iwata's latest projects and that his recent iniatives will be successful.

Don't you think it was more an attempt to appease shareholders in order to not lose his job?

Actually, shareholders wanted active corporate restructuring and layoffs to offset financial losses. Cutting his pay in half and allowing other board members to cut off a quarter of their share was a choice he made.

I haven't seen any clamoring for layoffs but those would've been possible and reasonable to expect in a Western firm. Cutting executive pay is nonetheless not as unselfish as you may think as it's more an act of calming down shareholders who decide who's running the firm.

You are right about shareholders asking for a restructuring though. They wanted Nintendo to enter mobile gaming, which the company finally does now. I deeply hope that Nintendo gets some fresh leadership that is interested in restoring the long term health of the firm while also being able to identify industry trends.

I more meant that a shareholder's meeting back in 2013 at least one shareholder essentially asked why haven't they restructured less essential departments and lay off non-essential workers. Besides, he did that shit twice. It's not even a thing for shareholders considering he never had to do it in the years between those instances.

You can read the full question and answer here, question 10.

Iwata said:
Regarding why we have not reduced the number of the personnel, it is true that our business has its ups and downs every few years, and of course, our ideal situation is to make a profit even in the low periods, return these profits to investors and maintain a high share price. I believe we should continue working toward this ideal. If we reduce the number of employees for better short-term financial results, however, employee morale will decrease, and I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world. I believe we can become profitable with the current business structure in consideration of exchange rate trends and popularization of our platforms in the future. We should of course cut unnecessary costs and pursue efficient business operations. I also know that some employers publicize their restructuring plan to improve their financial performance by letting a number of their employees go, but at Nintendo, employees make valuable contributions in their respective fields, so I believe that laying off a group of employees will not help to strengthen Nintendo’s business in the long run. Our current policy is to achieve favorable results by continuously cutting unnecessary expenses and increasing business efficiency. Thank you for listening.

Thank you Iwata.

Thank you so much for the pictures! Quite warming to see all the support there.

The name of the song in the Wii U unboxing video is "Memories" from Xenoblade Chronicles.
