Yeah. I don't think Chinese players are allowed to play Mo games with non Chinese players

I guess I don't really know.

Whats surprising though is that MS has quite a few games that could attract Chinese gamers (maybe) they Have Killer Instinct, World of Tanks just came out, and some other F2P games as well that they should've talked about and be looking into carrying over there.

Though at this point I think it's a lot more than just pushing X1 units, I think they want to get more people on the xbox ecosystem which no consist of Windows/Xbox.

Guess we will see how things spans out for Sony and MS - Good luck to them both!

Did Assassin's Creed Chronicles China receive some internet backlash since announcement?

Can't imagine why it got cancelled so fast, unless some censor dude looked at it and said, "Not historically correct enough" and then shut it down.

Ubisoft get the reply from the government just before the conference.
The problem is not about the single game, but they think the game is all about killing, you know, someone who rules.

This has been known to have happened. They ended up having to change all the character's names before they could release. In this case, a game about assassinating an actual Chinese Emperor is going to be problematic. And if there was anything in the game about the different Chinese ethnic groups, that could have lead to problems as well. The Chinese Ministry of Culture has been exercising their power a lot more in the last few years and this has hurt the release of creative works there.

Just why is there a poster of a smartphone screenshot of a tweet....?
I think that it's just a frame - the "picture" isn't actually a photograph.

Actually you can, previously released Xbone and PS4 games can play MP with non-Chinese players. Imported games work the same. From what I know the MCC issue is not due to censorship or anything, feels like a silly decision by MS concerning the Chinese internet infrastructure.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
Excuse my ignorance on the matter but what is this "Simplified Edition" I keep reading about in the OP?

Simplified as in Simplified Chinese. Most other Chinese markets use Traditional Chinese, but all official Mainland releases have to be in Simplified.

It sounds inefficient in my opinion to have two concurrent writing systems for the same language but it's not my place to judge so thanks for the explanation.

Should have made the X1 character Sima Yi

You probably think I'm suggesting that from a Western standpoint, but I actually mean that literally. I know even Mainland China drama production can't get away with fudging history because the censorship board is picky. The famous Zhen Huan Zhuan drama had to insert itself in a completely different history setting just because the novel setting was too 'fake' for censors.

So I guessed the only reasons why China censors would tell Ubisoft that their game has to be cancelled for release is that the 'history' Ubisoft presents in ACC: China is definitely "not favorable to China" in their eyes. I didn't know that there was an assassination of an emperor involved, so I guess that's extra no good.

I expect it'll be like this for a while. I'm sort of afraid some games that could use more financial success won't be able to reach retail in China just because they may contain objectionable material.

The issue isn't about whether something is favorable to China or not. The issue comes down to whether the content directly challenges an established authority or not, especially government authority.

That falls under "not favorable to China".

Admittedly the government is pretty ubiquitous, so it's hard to single out if an unflattering portrayal of any sort is distinct from being "unfavorable to China" versus "challenging government authority".

Your argument is about the same as equating the USA with the US government. Certain things can be straight up offensive to the populace without irritating the government and vice versa.

Put it this way, the Witcher 3 has a better likelihood of being approved than Assassin's Creed China.

Sorry haha. I had to post this video up ;ol

Nice!
360p though. T_T

Sorry, I don't want to upload too big file. It takes too long to upload 720p on my connection.

But here is a tour of the Sony booth in 720p for you!

Anyway, Knights of Valour is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 in China and is developed by a Taiwanese studio. They have received a lot of support from Sony since 2013 in making this classic arcade game for PS4. The 3 years of development for the game has allowed them to really nail down on the mechanics and they now have a fully functioning 3D fighting game based on the Three Kingdoms period.

This is just one of the many developers that Sony are working with to bring games to PlayStation.

No worries Zhuge you are forever forgiven for your charts. And I like all these games coming out of China hopefully a good amount of them get localized and do well outside of China. Great for the diversity of the library

There is actually indie events in China, more and more, better and better. :D
I already suspect that there is thriving indid scene in China, but rendered invisible due to the Great Firewall and language barrier. Hopefully with Sony involved now, they'll bring them to the international audience :D

2015 Is what has been confirmed but we haven't heard anything else.

It may be delayed tbh as I was expecting to hear more by now.

http://kow.snail.com/en/

Btw, Don't know if you guys know but Capcom revealed that there are more than 500,000 people who signed up for Street Fighter 5 Beta in China.

That's a pretty insane number and way higher then I expected in terms of demand.

So... 500k PS4's sold in China confirmed?

I seriously want those Chinese indie games got localized.
Me too.

But some of the games mentioned there were non-Chinese games. At least I saw there Baboon! (released at least in Spain for PS Vita), Anima: Gate of Memories (got the Steam Greenlight, still not released), Hearth & Slash (available on Steam), Funk of Titans (released on Xbox One), Ziggurat (already released for PS4 and others).

Yeah Ono looks amazingly fun. I wonder if he can speak Chinese or just directly transfer his fun energy to the audience.
