Heck, FFXIII, with its terrible reputation, managed to sell more than 400k.
Yeah but obviously it had a significant dropoff between XIII and XIII-2. I bought it in the hopes more Square games would come to PC, but have no interest in buying them if they're all as terrible as XIII's port was.

Type-0 also being a bad port so far doesn't surprise me.

It had the same drop off than on console release. Because of being XIII-2.

why can't the master race accept their 'master status' and stop port-begging for 'peasant' games?

Don't the master race have star citizen to play or something?

/S

FFXIII pc came out before refund was introduced.

Let's see how many owner they'll get from Type-0. I for one not planning to refund the game.
People are also giving ridiculous reviews like "it's a bad port, just get the console version instead". I mean, it's exactly like the console version, 1080p/30fps. In fact, there are some improvements and it's actually cheaper.

It seems that Atlus Japan operates only with the Japanese market in mind. I'm guessing they're a pretty small team that is very conservative in dedicating resources. They don't seem to do much outsourcing either (outside the fighting games).

To give you a serious response, anybody who ends up on GAF is the type of PC gamer who also enjoys genres more associated with console gaming. Hardline PC-only types have little reason to be active here. They're talking about cRPGs and 4X games somewhere else.

And MOBA and MMORPGs and RTS i presume....unless those PC master race also looked down on these pc players for being 'casual'.

You forgot the "/s".

there's no /S because some self-proclaimed 'master race' i knew said that MOBA players are 'casuals' as well....take that if you will.

Apparently, 'master race' are very specific about what is 'master race' even if the person primary game on PC.....

People wanted a reason to get a console- I can't think of a better reason than one of the most promising JRPGs in recent times.

I already own a console to play the game, but I would assuredly like a better experience.

Either way it's just another way to cement that this game is unfortunately not coming to PC unless you can develop an Improbability Engine.

A shame, but I never expected the game to come to PC.

Dude stop with the "master race" BS, no one will take you seriously if you continue to use it.

Ignoring ASP for a moment, here's some of the bigger selling Japanese titles on Steam along with some more niche titles, so both are available for comparison:

Dark Souls Owners: 2,026,674 ± 35,599
Dark Souls 2 Owners: 1,001,616 ± 25,077 (plus Scholars Owners: 298,982 ± 13,720)
Final Fantasy VII Owners: 885,060 ± 23,578
Cave Story+ Owners: 719,473 ±21,266
Final Fantasy VIII Owners: 439,806 ± 16,636
Valkyria Chronicles Owners: 478,273 ± 17,347
Metal Gear Rising Owners: 486,692 ± 17,498
MGS Ground Zeroes Owners: 431,221 ± 16,473
Final Fantasy XIII Owners: 416,198 ± 16,184
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale Owners: 412,071 ±16,103
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM 3 Full Burst Owners: 407,118 ±16,007
Dragon Ball XenoVerse Owners: 319,454 ±14,181 (Notably has went on pretty reserved sales so far)
Long Live The Queen Owners: 294,030 ±13,606
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Owners: 224,195 ± 11,882
Ys Origins Owners: 220,563 ±11,786
Sakura Spirit Owners: 197,120 ± 11,142
Agarest: Generations of War Owners: 169,055 ±10,319
Chantelise Owners: 168,724 ±10,309
Neptunia Owners: 162,286 ± 10,111
Dynasty Warriors 8 Owners: 153,371 ± 9,829
Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~ Owners: 123,654 ± 8,826

It's hard for me to sit there and imagine there isn't an audience for at least late ports of their older games.

That said, I'd say the same thing about porting Persona 4 Golden to other platforms as well, and I've already played through it on Vita.

Great data! Makes 500k for Persona 5 seem pretty plausible actually.

Didn't know Valkyria and FF13 sold that much, but I find it funny how much FF7 and FF8 sold on Steam. That's like what, $10m to Square from 15-17 year old games?

Eh,whatever. Games can be console only, too.
B-but they're losing ez money!1!

Yes, I get it. It's true that P5 on PC would make easy fucktons of money especially from the Asia market. But reading the notion that every game in existence should be on PC because the money is there doesn't make it less grating.

Sorry Atlus, ShenMue III, FFVII Remake and Last Guardian were all announced at the same conference just in June. So you're not fooling anyone, we already know the infinite improbability drive exists.

Sakura Spirit isn't actually Japanese.

Same thing with Long Live the Queen, made by Hanako Games. However, they are
Easy Breezy and
Japanesey, which does appeal to the same demographic.

Sakura Spirit is helping the Visual Novel thirst on Steam, that Sekai Project is starting to satisfy with actual Japanese VNs like Higurashi and Grisaia.

Just seems like a silly move really a chance to expand the audience and make more money on it, bit of a no brainer really.

M: Is a PC release impossible?

J: Depends...do you have ready access to an infinite improbability drive?

Infinite improbability?... sounds like it's gonna be improbable for a very long time. It may not sounds explicitly/directly like "most likely never", but sure seems that way in the current state.

Thats what people would have said about Tales of ever being on PC. Guess what happens on October :p

Because of Namco Bandai for Tales...

But Atlus is not Namco Bandai.....

Better not let your hopes up or your disappointment will be even greater..

that says....if E3 2015 had proves anything, it's that anything is possible...

so yay for you?

3 years ago, people would have used Capcom as an exemple and claim "because of Capcom, but Namco Bandai isnt Capcom".

When you see that even NIS or IF are going on Steam, you can bet it wont take that long for Atlus (especially under SEGA) to follow.

Then again, that kind of decision would likely depend on Atlus Japan, not Atlus USA.

Namco are in for the fans, but mostly for the money (since Naruto Storm 3? I think)... (hopefully they are doing better in that department).

Atlus is something else. Atlus' way of developing its games changed the way SEGA was seeing their pipelines of development. Despite being the owner, SEGA are taking cues on how to "quality" control their projects based on Atlus' work so far.

As I've said before, despite being the "owner", SEGA gave them their independence regarding how they develop and publish games when they acquired them. So the "especially under SEGA" doesn't hold much value in this scenario, especially with Atlus' internal studios. It's Atlus' call in the end. Unless they feel the need to port to PC, so be it. But don't go as far as hoping them porting it to PC until an official announcement, because that's what it sounds like... port-begging.

p.s. I don't get why does it feel like it is more acceptable to port-beg console games to PC than a 3rd party exclusive on set console to another one?

This still doesnt change my statement. And what about NIS or even IF ?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Atlus should bring over Persona 3 and 4 HD to all current systems and PC first. I think this might happen after Persona 5 is out.

Why would this come out on the PC in the first place?

I thought the Persona series was strictly consoles and habdhelds? Why would they shift their tune now?

because PC gamers and their 'everything is better on PC' reasoning i supposed.....

still remember the complaining and portbegging when Bloodborne was announced?

I'm sure someone will post on gaf in the future that Nintendo should also port the next Zelda to PC too because 'the Zelda PC port will help bring in more revenue to nintendo' or some similar reason...

The chances were slim to none in the first place but people are out in force now that theres a statement of sorts. PC gamers are seeing alot more japanese devs port their games to pc, some of which are notoriously niche so i guess they assumed atlus wouldnt cross it out when Persona is more popluar than stuff by IF.

I dont see how talking about a PC Port of persona 5 in a thread about a pc port of persona 5 can be classified as portbegging, but ok.

You forgot the "/s". Or are we now accusing other people ?
I mean, are you insinuating mods are biased or something ? Because same rules apply to everyone. Port begging leads to ban, when it derails a thread. If your assumption is port begging only come from one way, this is blatantly wrong. Especially if you claim its acceptable for some people and not others.

Now, what I'm discussing right now isnt how likely this game or another is likely to come to which platform, but to discuss that, as opposed to some people claims, a 3rd party series isnt tied forever to one platform.

is it allowed for ps4 owners like me to portbeg PC games or something....?

Star Citizen? Nah...that is most probably vaporware even on PC....

Starcraft 2?

I only want Hearthstone on my PS4 and Vita to be honest........
