Just made a simple and fairly straight forward level. Want to do more with it but I think I need more tools.

How do you choose which suit you get from the mystery mushroom? I keep dragging it on to Mario and it just seems to pick a random suit.
Edit: figured it out, just tap on it.

Is anyone making non super hard Kaizo type stages lol.

Mine are just balanced. Posted them earlier. Seriously I hope people realize not everything has to be balls-to-the-wall hard. Think of the Mario games we already have and think of how many of those levels are bloody-knuckle hard and then ask yourself what the hell you're doing.

If this has been asked already, I'm sorry. But how do you put a single coin inside of a ? Block?

Loving this game so far.

Just put up a ? block and it'll have a coin by default.

I'm SO disappointed that sharing levels is such a poor system. I was expecting searchable usernames, map names and tags. These codes are terrible.

So, I know how to copy single objects but I remember there was a stream with Corey from Treehouse making a level and he copied multiple objects using a yellow selection.
Do I need to unlock that as well or can be done using an specific button?

Hey guys, this has probably been answered to death... but I got Super Mario Maker yesterday and was able to update it to v1.0.1 after midnight. I'm playing it now, though, and just got the message that new course elements are being queued up for the next day.

But isn't the patch supposed to "fix" that so you don't have to wait a whole day?

Any idea what's going on?

If you play with all your assets long enough, the truck will come early. Usually takes about 15-30 minutes of playing around.

I look forward to playing your mega man inspired courses.

Keep creating and it'll say the truck arrived earlier.

I just started lol'ing reading this thread. It's so bad. Hey guys check out my neat level 340985039485093485093. How did they not include username search. Do they even have meetings at nintendo.

Hold down L, ZL, or both for different modes. Delete, copy and area-select.

I don't think that's an unlock. I think you hold L and then drag a box. I was doing it a bunch today but I'm going off muscle memory!

Bah, ignore me and just read the post above.

Alright! Made a second level. Still focused on making easier early level kinda stuff, but interesting enough to play twice to see where the different paths lead. I think this one turned out a lot better than the first level. If anyone wants to give it a shot:

So if I'm done playing for the day, will new stuff unlock the next day regardless of if you've messed around with all items?

And feel free to check out/comment on my course!

There shouldn't be anyway to screw yourself over, since I had extra helmets and mushrooms in pipes

Okay, one way to screw yourself over: right in the very beginning if you bounce off the Koopa but fuck up the wall jump I couldn't find a way to make it back up high enough

Also right at the beginning if the bullet knocks the spike helmet off you can't get out of the box

True, I guess. I'll get rid of that first bullet bill. I also remember I wasn't sure about that koopa now that you mention it, I'll try messing around and seeing if I can find a better way

Does SMM have a ranking system for other people's levels? Can you search for the most popular levels?

Or is it all try other people's levels by putting in a long code and hope they are good?

There is, you can pick by what's popular today, most popular all time, lots of things. I haven't messed around with it much though.

Is there no way to remove a star you gave to a course? I accidentally pressed the star instead of "comment" when paused on a level. Tapping it again didn't do anything.

Yes and Yes. There are four categories other than using codes.

100 Mario Challenge: You play through 8 or 16 random levels from the community in a row.
Featured: Levels Nintendo decided to promote
Most stars: The top 50 highest rated stages
Up and Coming: Recently uploaded

Here are two levels I have created:

Bouncy Buddy

ID: 95DC-0000-0019-57C5

A Super Mario Bros. themed level with many trampolines. It features two ways to get to the flag. Moderate difficulty level. Not for beginners though.

KnobStopper

ID: F8FE-0000-001A-6C53

A Super Mario Bros. underground themed level. Name comes from the way you finish the level. This level features a few puzzles/patterns you have to figure out to get through, though there are two strategies available at the start. High difficulty level, for advanced players.

I hope you like them.

I made a level called "Chasm Cavern," which demonstrates the game's various methods of flight and jumping.

Subscribing to this thread, and I'll probably give a bunch of these a shot tomorrow (or tonight, if I don't end up that tired later).

The editor interface is beyond good. Holy moley.

There's no way to unstar something,.. But eh, what's the harm, really? You inadvertently made someone happy. What's the issue, Blue? Is there a limit to the amount of stars you can give in a day? I might have to start being more frugal with mine if so.

I finally made my first level!

bFGihWq.jpg

It's nice and simple, yet can be challenging. I made it using the limited tools I currently have.

Let me know what you guys think. :)

Ok, updated my course. It can still be unwinnable in the beginning if you don't break out before the homing bill comes, but I moved it so you should have plenty of time, so if you get hit blame yourself

I don't disagree with you, but unfortunately, I think a lot of other people will.

I don't think it's too hard or anything. kind of short. 2 ways to get the flag pole. 1 way to get it with the 1-up.

In the time since I wrote that some kid decided to tell me on Miiverse that my stage was "too easy," so, yeah.

Another said there was "no theme." I'm going to make a Kaizo level that spams bloopers everywhere and write "SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS" in blocks and that should go viral.

My first level is complete:

Thought I'd have some fun with a gimmick, though it's never unwinnable.

Ok I made 1 more. Took me a long while to make but I’m super with it!

Walljump Caverns:
6018-0000-001A-B0FD

It's not super tough, but there's a couple of tricky sections. The layout map spoils it, but the hardest part is the small alternate path at the start.

I spent so long making it I didn't have a chance to try out any of ye're stages, so I'll do that tomorrow!
