Out of control pit bulls attack man.

What the hell are you talking about? Someone said you cant possible kick a pitbull for it to run away, I showed a video of that not being the case and you haven't shown anything to the contrary.

Oh so every situation where you kick a pitbull will end like that regardless of the pitbulls age, disposition and level of training.

Lots of tuff guys (tm) in here who have either never seen a dog attack, let alone a pitbull attack, as well as those who have never been in any sort of emergency situation. A kick isn't going to stop a pit unless you're freaking Jet Li or something. I have an ugly scar across my skull from a dog attack. It wasn't even a pitbull, just some mutt. It took two full grown men to remove its jaws and a third person to beat it until it stop fighting back. And like it or not most of you would stand there and watch rather than act regardless of whether you believe so or not. It's easy to watch a video and criticize others for inaction. It's totally different when it's happening in front of you.

So what you're saying is... pitbulls are unstoppable invincible machines?! Amazing, we should start making cars out of them! Would really reduce road fatalities. I totally agree everyone should of just stood around while some guy got his arm bitten off shrugging and sighing 'Too bad so sad.'

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying.

People don't understand that we as human beings are the Drake of the animal kingdom.

Of all dog breeds out there, the reason you chose a pitbull was for it's cuteness and playfulness.

This is a dog that was bred for fighting. You weren't aware of this when you got it? ok.

Yep. You can think what you want, but anything other than what I say about why I got my dog is 100 percent wrong. I never said I wasn't aware. I volunteered at a local animal shelter, I'm very aware. I said it had nothing to do with why I got her.

A 2000 study by the US by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports of 327 people killed by dogs "pit bull terrier" or mixes thereof were reportedly involved in 76 cases. The breed with the next-highest number of attributed fatalities was the Rottweiler and mixes thereof, with 44 fatalities.[2]
Analyzed only dogs involved in fatal attacks whose breeds were known, rather than what the media reported its breed to be. 23% pitbull, 13% rottweiler.

Is there really a lot of blood in that video? I'm somewhat colorblind, so I can't tell if that's really a pool of the victim's blood or just a pool of water left behind by the hose. It looks the same as the water in the gutter at the beginning of the video, and when the guy walks away at the end, his bright yellow shirt doesn't look like it's covered in blood.

It doesn't lessen the craziness of getting attacked by dogs in the street, but for those of you too squeamish to watch, it's really not what I would call a graphic video.

Well said. I dread thinking what I might do in such a situation. Just stand there, paralyzed by fear, or try and help, and possibly get bitten as well?

My dog of 15yrs died in June. I love dogs, but I believe we shouldn't even be able to have pets that have even the remote possibility of doing something like this. That encompasses all dog breeds with tremendous bite strength.

Yes, that's the guys blood. What do you want graphic to be, them ripping his limbs off? Blood generally means graphic.

Ban pitbulls

Pretty race and kind when controlled but any race with a potential to snap and kill should die already.

Pitbulls defense force is the same as gun defense force... Except pitbulls can go off easier.

Yes exactly the same. A creature made out of meat that can be killed and probably won't be dangerous if raised properly is exactly the same as a device I can buy and use to kill you instantly.

Fuck pit bulls. Even if they can be as sweet as a button if trained right, there's always going to be some assholes who intentionally train them to be vicious or just plain don't give a shit like the owner of that video. Next thing you know another kid gets their face ripped off by these fucks.

Thank god they're banned here in Ontario.

This applies to ALL dogs.

It's not a breeds faults if they are big and strong.

Eradicate pitbulls so Rotties become the prominent fight breed. Then destroy them so German Shepherds are taught to hurt each other. Whittle it down to French Bulldogs and someone will still find a way to make them vicious.

That's totally the owners fault. The dogs will probably be put down. =/
But what I don't get is, why doesn't he defend himself? A few punches to the nose, a poke into the eyes etc.

Most of the population can't raise them properly though. Pit bulls require skilled training in order to not snap and eat the family cat. Even the ones "trained well" could snap one day it's in their blood

They're designed for fighting and to never let go unless for extreme circumstances. Face punches wouldn't do shit

Except Rotties are not bred to be a fighting dog, they are a working-class dog.. sure they can use that to hurt people but they were not bred to fight. Also of course you can vicious small dogs but what damage are they going do? None.

Sounds like you're victim blaming.. tell me how is he going to move his arm if it's in the jaws of a machine press. Dangerous dogs need to be destroyed. I can concede you can socialise any dog and it won't go attacking, but if you don't and have a breed as powerful and dangerous as a Pitbull and it attacks someone, then that dog needs to be destroyed.

so what about all the majority of pitbulls that don't do this

or do you have some angry label for me too nos

Well of course it's not all pitbulls.

But whenever there's a major mauling, serious injury, or death from a dog attack, it's pretty much always pitbulls.

Sure, some are gentle as lambs, but the ones that aren't, really aren't. Their body structure and jaws make them more dangerous than other breeds if they decide to attack. That's just a fact.

I genuinely believe all these dog types should be destroyed. They are literally JAWS on legs.

So what was the out come off the video besides life long trauma for that poor guy?

outside of the man being attacked, what made the video more disturbing is the fact the lady on the phone calling the police had to say her address more than 10 times on the phone. How hard is it for them to respond after giving the address? The man could of bled to death due to the semi incompetence by the dispatcher.
This. Holy shit. How many times does he have to repeat his address and the police are needed.

Pit owners should be required to carry liability insurance of 100k or more. Price these people out of ownership. And the 911 dispatcher should be fired. Dude on the phone clearly said his address at least half a dozen times.

The problem with banning a breed of dog, especially one as undefined as Pit Bulls, is that asshole owners will just move on the next "aggressive" breed, and we'll continue this discussion on and on and on.

Instead of banning the dog, make dogs harder to obtain. Not only do you need a license for every dog, but you need a special license for large breeds. And enforce the law.

Also, to continue a lost discussion, every Dalmatian I have ever met has been trained incredibly poorly. Their owners don't think they are dangerous, but they forget that they are still dogs.

I don't get the argument that pitbulls are misunderstood and in reality are very loyal and friendly.

Is that why Pitbull owners get them? For their famed friendliness?
Admit it, you want to look badass. That's all it is.

When I was a kid, my family had two of them. Got them from the local shelter when they were about 3 months. We were warned they were pitbulls. We had no idea why they would warn us, we just wanted two dogs.

Those dogs both lived to be 15, around young kids almost constantly. They only thing they ever killed was the occasional rabbit or cat that got ballsy. And several dozen footballs.

I want one again because of 15 years of wonderful memories of my childhood friends. And if that bothers anyone, they can politely go fuck themselves.

Dogs will be put down after that. I've never thought pits make good pets for untrained owners. They can be sweet dogs but they have to have the right owners.

This is all anecdotal but if someone came to our house we would tell them to be careful with the rescue dalmatian over any other dog. He is an unpredictable fucker. Also..collectively my girlfriend and I have been bit more times by our Beagle than any of the other dogs. But what do I know, I'm just a piece of trash!

We get it. You love your dog. The problem is that these dogs are potentially lethal. The main problem that aggravates this is there are guaranteed to be some irresponsible, POS humans owning some of these 120 pound insanely strong, potentially lethal dogs. Go take a look at the list posted in this thread of all the people who were killed by these dogs. Put yourself in the situation of a family that has a child killed by a pitbull with an irresponsible owner. Look at the statistics. I don't know about you, but I don't think having a preference for a breed like this is worth the deaths of all those kids. You can get a different type of dog.

Also, that Beagle is gonna have a rough time doing any serious damage even to small children.

The pitbull had its jaw locked, that's why it was almost impossible to separate it from the other one. But in this video you see how this shit can get done, especially with the guy with the backpack at the near end of the video.

Whatever, i'm just saying that the guy in the OP almost died and that people could have done more to help him.

I only found this out recently myself, but lock-jaw is actually a myth. No dogs are able to physically lock their jaws in place. Dogs like pit bulls just have incredibly powerful head and jaw muscles.

But yeah, pit bulls are fucking terrifying. There's nothing that angers me more when I see assholes here walking around with their bulldogs off their leads. Or any dog for that matter. Let's see how much of a badass you are when your dog bites and maybe kills a child. Which I do remember seeing on the news a few times over the years.

I do have to wonder why all these pitbull owners are coming out the woodwork with their anecdotal stories, it always happens - just like gun owners really.

Hell yeah, fuck everyone else. I also grew up with two beautiful loyal brainless murder machines that absolutely destroyed small animals but happened to have never hurt a human being. And I'm getting a new one for christmas.

-I thought we humans feature two of those.
-Yes, the dogs should be put down.
-The owner is still at fault.
-It should be harder to get such a breed and you should be required to get a "dog handler licence". This is already mandatory in Germany afaik.

I don't get why they are all so easy on those two dogs.
Come on, apply some force. Heavy kicks, blunt objects to the head etc.

Those dogs are dead the moment they attacked the guy, no need to hold back.

I saw a Golden Retriever that had to be put down because it attacked a child. All aggravated/starving/mentally deficient/abused dogs are potentially lethal. Dalmatians are a particularly nippy breed, but 101 Dalmatians have the public thinking differently. There's a lot of bizarre alarmist information being throwing around in this thread and its sort of weird. Yes, they are involved in a lot of attacks, but you have to realize that its the people and not the breed. They're a naturally strong animal and through nurture and abuse they are trained to attack. A good line of terriers who are trained properly (like all dogs) and are raised in a positive atmosphere are beautiful and wonderful pets. Even rescues who are rehabilitated grow into lovely animals and amazing companions. There is a very critical period for these rescues where they are observed and worked with to see if they are able to return to society. If they are a lost cause they are unfortunately put down.

Most of the population can't raise them properly though. Pit bulls require skilled training in order to not snap and eat the family cat. Even the ones "trained well" could snap one day it's in their blood

Most people can't raise any animal properly. Personally I think it should be more difficult for people to get any kind of dog, but if you ban one breed another one will pop up as the "Problem" breed. It's asinine. And it's not like guns.

That's terrifying. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to own dogs.

One of our dogs was attacked just 2 days ago by an American Staffordshire Terrier.

What she looked like after we took her home from the vet:

Probably because FlyingJ spent like three pages basically going 'lol, fuck your dog'

Yes, I don't agree with his statements but saying 'my dog is great, it wouldn't hurt a fly' is just not relevant in the slightest. Great you are a responsible owner who can socialise his/her dog - but that was obviously not the case and for a large percentage of PB owners and the that is skewed due to the large amount of people getting one for the tough guy image.
