So to get the best experience can I still use my level 170 NG++ character?

Can you still find matches on this level or you don't really PVP at all?

I know, but those are a pretty big deal for pvp players, so i can see where the complains are coming from

I hate what they do to PVP with the best gems being there, so I hope the best ones will now be in the DLC area, but what I hate the most is actually PVE related, which is having some amazing boss fights that are exclusive to the dungeons behind those shitty levels and materials.

If at least you only needed the materials once and then you'd be good on every character, you'd just have to rush to the lever and then back to the gate and you'd be fighting the cool bosses in no time.

Lol, never change GT never change!

Most of the bosses and content looked lifted straight from the main game, but I wonder if they were just to show off new equipment or something.

I just want to know what exactly this is and how it's integrated into the main campaign.

Yeah, I was disappointed tbh. And for 20 bucks... Eh. Bloodborne was my least favorite Souls game, though still great, so I'm going to wait and see on this one.

Chalice dungeons [that is, fully realized procedurally generated 3D dungeons] will take several iterations to fully evolve and feel 'right'. You need great code, a ton of set piece designs [so players don't recognize repeats], lots of alternate textures [same reason], and generally a massive amount of assets with smart, intelligent randomized design.

This isn't easy, and will take experience to get right. Heck, just having randomized ASCII dungeons in roguelikes is difficult -- getting rooms, walls, and corridors right, building up a library of set pieces, etc... doing it fully realized [where we instantly recognize repetition in room design, etc] is monumental.

BUT... it also has huge promise. I hope they do add to it, and I hope they take everything they learned and apply it to BB2 and then 3... because if and when they master it, Chalice dungeons will be absolutely amazing.

Pass. One of the top things about these games to me is their level design. I don't want any form of randomly generated content for it, so I hope they just drop it completely and use the extra effort and time to just make a bigger world/refine whatever world they are making.

Bloodborne is my first Souls game and shattered into my top 5 of all time. I'll go back and experience all of them now. $20 for more sounds like a steal because of this.

But it makes sense. I'm a HUGE Lovecraft/Extended Cthulu Mythos fan and it's my first. *smooch*

I was so hyped about so much stuff this year but honestly all I can even think about is this now. Can't wait.

The Old Hunters and Persona 5 are all that matters for 2015. Everything else is filler.

If you have a gaming PC, Dark Souls is begging you to be played. It looks incredible using Durante's DSfix, runs great, and it's just mindblowingly amazing. The story is not as interesting as the one in Bloodborne, is a much more simple fantasy story, but the way it's told is just brilliant, I'm sure you'll have a blast uncovering its secrets.

The amount of both story and game related content is also huge, you'll quickly understand why so many people listed lack of content as their main disappointment from Bloodborne. The covenants, sidequests, secondary characters narratives, it's all so much better explored in Dark Souls.

I'd say Bloodborne is just as good overall, and it's a great thing that they're not good in the exact same ways. I cant stop playing either of them.

Didn't expect it this year, great news.
Just remembered I have to playthrough it again, should I make a new guy or play the expansion on NG++?

Exactly what is in the collectors edition? I haven't seen any English outlet even mention it yet and Google showed me nothing. Anybody know?

I really appreciate it! I hear the NPC stories are much further explored and feel entirely more impact. Bonfire Side Chat podcast seemed to explain it as "Cainhurst is amazing and a big reason is because it feels like cut content from a theoretical Demon Souls 2." What I think they were getting at was that the story was well encapsulated and explored. And optional. My understanding is that the Souls games have much more of this.

I hope, Cainhurst is the bomb.

(you're a cool dude, I am thankful for all your suggestions)

Edit: My laptop can run a lot but idk about Dark Souls. I do, however, own it on Steam already.

So is this gonna be like the Dark Souls DLC where you have to play through half of the game just to access the content? I really would like to be able to just jump right in and play the new stuff.

Both.

I'm probably playing through the DLC on NG+3 for the first time because I think Bloodborne's bosses are too easy, but right after that I'll go straight to make a new character to see how it's balanced with the rest of the game in the normal difficulty.

Aw man, I get so excited talking about these games, now I can't get work done for the rest of the day because I'm thinking about Bloodborne nonstop

And since you already run Dark Souls, no need to think further about it! Give it a try! Make an LTTP thread about it too.

Bloodborne is my GOTY and I didn't even touch chalices at all.

You should. They're garbage, but some of the bosses are AMAZING.

I hope so, actually, I love having it well integrated as part of the game. Making it convenient might be the best for your first playthrough of the DLC, but after that it's much more fun to have it in a more natural way when making new characters.

If anything I was disappointed that chalice dungeons didn't turn out more like I envisioned they would. What I thought it would end up being was a single chalice rather than having tiers of chalices. You would pay blood echoes into the chalice, with higher echo counts meaning better gear, more deadly enemies and potentially more complex dungeon layouts. This would make it less dull getting through the dungeons and also remove the issue of having to do all the chalice tiers again on new characters, since you could just save up a bunch of echoes and create a high level dungeon from scratch. Created dungeons would have a chance to be defiled/cursed rather than having specific chalices, although you would be able to influence the likelihood of this happening with items.

As for equipment drops, it'd still be blood gems and such, but in addition to that there could be weapon variations with blood gems already inserted into them, the catch being that said gems are locked in to that particular weapon and can't be swapped out. I think that it would also lessen the tedium if chalice dungeons had more themes, perhaps taking assets from other areas in the game for certain themes to lessen the load on development. Making the dungeons less predictable and more interesting to play through should be the priorities if they decide to continue the chalice dungeons - it's just so boring going through yet another underground catacomb to get the materials to make another, slightly trickier underground catacomb dungeon.

So this has the area that was cut from the main game? Byrgenwerth or whatever it is called?

I remember reading a comment about how the area was short, has locked doors that can't be opened and there is a major item that seems hastily re-purposed.

so it looks like they are adding back magic also bow and arrow saw a few new weapons and what looks like a beast mode attack when you can jump on your target and pummel them

can someone explain how the DLC is going to be effected by NG+, in DS1 i had only one character and he was on like NG+++ and the DLC was impossibly hard and i skipped the DLC for DS2.....

right now i have a 216 on NG+++ 100 on NG+ and a bloodtinge build at 100 i stopped before the last boss

Please no new Chalice Dungeons

I'd definitely welcome new dungeons, if they weren't made in the expense of the main DLC.

Agreed, I enjoyed going through them already in their current state, and if they can make them even better they'll be fantastic. The first three Pthumeru chalices, and two Hintertombs weren't as enjoyable and varied as the later ones, and I imagine many didn't venture forth after those.

EDIT:
high stats blood gems

To my recollection you can find 18-19% physical attack gems in
Nightmare of Mensis
, and the highest non-cursed gems I've found in the chalices have been 19,5%, eventhough I've gone through them all and few root ones as well.

EDIT.2:
There are some great bosses in them, surrounded by bosses that you fight like 3 or 4 times, all on the "main" path to the main side boss.

IIRC, the only boss I've encountered more than two times in the non-root chalices is
Undead Giant.
and its different variations.

Based on my love of Miyazaki / Souls / Bloodborne I would have bought $20 DLC if it was nothing more than a new hunter hat, but wow, the trailer looked incredible.

I wonder if people get tired of the LTTPs for Dark Souls. It has to be the most frequent one I see. Hmhmhmhmhmmmmm. If I can get it to run then I'll be playing shortly, as I'm in Nightmare of Mensis and people have made me aware that completing the game would dumb me into NG+. They're saying just do side stuff and Chalice stuff so I don't have to restart to get to the DLC

Fffffff I accidentally started new game plus and forgot to add this. I MIGHT still have the USB with the older save before u I fought the last boss. Please tell me I do.

I don't wanna have to replay a lot of my plus to reach the area.

This was such a great way to start of the conference. I'll be there day one of course as it's my favorite Souls game.

The art is pretty fantastic as well.

How it worked in DS1 you couldn't delevel though as far as I know, it was simply reallocation levels. Was there a way to do that?

There wasn't, hence "would". :) But the easiest way to respect in a Souls game would be just that, delevel you. For a literal respec they could give you back the souls you put into your levels, but I don't see them (nor want them) doing this.

I hope saves from the base game work with the GOTY Edition.

I would assume the GOTY is just a build of the base game with the DLC included, so almost surely yes, if only to avoid compatibility issues.

Bloodborne is right up there with DS1 for me. It has better gameplay and cooler mechanics/weapons but DS1 has more landscape variety and the way it's all interconnected and how you can see everything from everywhere else is simply breathtaking. BB does this as well but it feels less spectacular because it has a more "conventional" or "realistic" setting: DS1 is crazy in what settings it throws at you and how vertiginously vertical it's often laid out. It's just dizzyingly sprawling and massive.

Complete the game, start NG+ playthrough alongside new character(s) with Bloodtinge and/or Arcane, when the DLC drops you get to experience it at multiple difficulty levels and make use of all new weapons. It's 2.5 months until then, you have plenty of time.

nortonff

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
The Souls trailers are known for bullshots, hell, even the Bloodborne trailer had a mouse cursor in it.

Lol is this real? what trailer?
