Alright Gaf in super good mood, and wanna play some stages that seem to get ignored and want some critic on them by semi-pro mario player. Just quote me and tell me ur stage ID and what ever idea u were going for or something. and i'll give it a whirl. My Wii ID is Edge so if i don't get back to commenting on here i probably left u comment on miiverse. Alright let the Kazio mario stages come. my body is ready.
Also if u have the time try out some of the stages i made would also love some feed back

Just posted this a couple hours ago:

Maturity, bitches.
You get a star for visual goodness, clever use of the rail to make a drawbridge look.
But maaaan fuckin' hammer bros, this is my special hell, I eventually beat it but I still think less of those kinda unpredictable bros could be in order.
The staircase before the cannon gap is hell until I went over the previous fort, on the other hand crossing the vast gap with the cannonball tower is rad.

Well it was a bit of a tribute to W8-3 which had those special walls to give the illusion of a stronghold and the main enemy in that was hammer bros. Because I decided to give the player some mushrooms I thought they could contend with a few challenges which is why I two on that staircase. But I did space them so there should be a safe gap to stand in their hammer arc. Still a lot fairer than v1 which had two hammer bros on top of the fort with the corridor of cannons.

Tried all these other than the underwater one and really liked them, nice work!

Was going to make a suggestion about changing the colours of the square platforms since they were all beige in the first two, but that fixed itself up by 1-5, so you worked it out!

EDIT: based on the streaming right now, doesn't look like you can star levels or get a play notice when they're downloaded which is a pain if you wanted to download a ton and play through them.

I tried a couple of your levels too! They were quite enjoyable I must say :)

And yeah, I didn't notice I could change the colors of my platforms until my 1-5 level. It gives a nice touch.

I made a fun little level. I wanted to try out to see what I could make aesthetically with some of the tools so I made a cool bridge. Not really difficult but there are some secrets to find.

Level ID: 87A6-0000-0043-2BC7

Check it out if you want.

Just played it. Fun indeed! I didn't even knew there was a
Super Mario Builder
costume so that's great!

Wow, just had a level in 100 Mario Challenge that drops to somewhere around 15fps. I didn't even think it was possible.

Insane.

(Also the level is fucking shit)

That was an awful level indeed but omg dat framedrop.

The inexplicably low tile limit is a serious problem in this game. I had to turn my level into swiss cheese just to barely get it finished.

No vertical scale is also a sinful omission.

Hum, I didn't have any tile limit problem thus far. Truth to be told, my levels are rather light as of now, so I guess it explains it. I'll have to check if this is really problematic.

Edited and reuploaded my new stage fixed some major flaws in the stage. And adjusted timer to make it a bit more time to look around. Hopefully you guys try it and can give me some feed back. Looking for ways to make it better.

Actually had a bit of battery left! This was a fun ride, think it might have gotten tricky if I didn't find the star near the end. Got the time right as well, got a bit panicky when I heard the low time noise, but still had plenty of time.

If you could run through this very short level of mine multiple times (or download it and move yourself around), I'd appreciate it. There are five different paths with different themes that will all lead to a different route to the flag at the end. I'd like a guinea pig to give me feedback on it as a whole. I feel like most just run through it once and only get to see like a fifth of the work I've put in. :(

The themes of each path are: a standard (albeit short) level, a coin vault, a mysterious factory, flora taking over through years of neglect, and an infestation.

I've remade my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles dam homage stage from the pre-launch version, for anyone who had wanted to try that but couldn't:

WVW69iYQE_gJIRfagE

Tonight I Dine on Turtle Soup
EDD0-0000-0024-CA8E

It's a much better stage now. I've added a bunch of background decoration, smoothed over the more obnoxious pain points, revamped the overall flow and structure, and even threw in an Easter egg at the end.

This is a good level and all but seeing this get so much attention when I released a level with a lot of the same ideas makes me want to stop bothering. If you're just a guy who makes levels and don't have a following online, no one seems to care much.

The game doesn't know how to handle such a crappy level.

I really wanted to make a SMW caste stage, love the music. It's called Bowser Jr. Well Protected: 1252-0000-0043-54D1. I'd love to get some feedback and feel free to check out my other courses.

I've reworked an old level of mine to both make it a bit easier and less tedious. Really helps to see even one person play your stuff.

Seing people play also gives confidence.

14 People have played my level with 17 attempts with 75% completion. I like that.

But seeing 2 people not complete it makes me sad.

I'd love somebody to take a look at Take the A-Train (F5F2-0000-0040-42D2). I posted it late last night and it got rather buried (nobody has cleared it yet). It's an SMB castle stage, fairly straightforward but with multiple pathways throughout and 3 1UPs to find.

I'll be taking a break from stage creation myself to play through some of the latest ones in this thread. Things move so quickly here that every time I load up the game I can only get through a handful from the last few pages.

Unrelatedly, I had my first run-in with the censor today: tried to save a stage as "Yoshi test" and was informed it wouldn't fly. Surely they wouldn't block "Yoshi"? (Turns out they blocked "shi t".)

Aiii

So not worth it
This is my new level, called Patience Zero. As the name suggests, rushing through this level with the run-button is not advisable. The level itself is not too hard, but hopefully not to easy to clear in just one attempt. Hope you guys check it out, though:

I've got a Mario 3 level that is the most 1-1 level difficulty you can get and I think it was in the 30%'s until a few from GAF had a play.

Post a code for a level and I'll stream a playthrough of it in about an hour. One code per GAFfer. It can be for your stage or someone else's stage of your choice. Just quote this post with the code so that I can easily see it. First come, first served. I'll stream until about 6PM Eastern.

Oh I'd love for you to try my stage!

It's just about getting eyes on your stuff. Of course if you have a following online you're going to get a bit more attention and people are going to give your levels more of a chance, because your fans will want to see what you're making. I would try to not get discouraged and let your levels speak for themselves. With half the game being about creation, unless you have people specifically seeking you out, it's going to take time for your stuff to rise to the top even if it's great.

When you can actually see how people are dying on your stage it's so much easier to see what you should have done. It's so hard to judge things when I can consistently get past my own challenges.

Stealth brag :p

Also, your cape level was a really good reminder of how ridiculously fun and overpowered the cape in SMW was :)

Ugh, I don't think I'll be doing a level like this again. I'm very happy with the results, but this was so much more work than a "normal" level. And what's the special thing? Well...

Presenting my ninth:
Boo's Inverted Haunt
WVW69iZJ2h0x-4PWuq

DBF8-0000-0042-2E51
Description: A ghost house level with a gimmick. When you enter a Warp Pipe, the level spins 180 degrees. To go right, you must go left. Stand on top on one platform, then walk across the bottom of it shortly after. And finally make your way past spinning saws and moving platforms.
Secrets: Three 1-up Mushrooms. All hidden in the exact same manner.

This is one of the best levels I've played. Obviously a lot of time and dedication went into it. It feels like a real mario level and perfectly uses the limitations of the system to its advantage. It also perfectly fits the ghost house theme. Everything was trippy and unusual. I never knew exactly where I was. Sense of direction lost. But of course, I always knew how to proceed, and going off the path gave way to fun secrets.

It's the best.

Enjoyed this, especially when I found the star. Only thing I didn't really like was how many enemies were in ? blocks. Bowser chasing was a nice touch!

thank you for that! I really didn't think about it until you mentioned it, I might have over done it a bit lol, will keep that in mind next level I make

It occurred to me that one can make an impossible level only to hide a shortcut right at the start to game the upload system. I want to believe it's how some expert levels squeak through.

I think the honeymoon is starting to end for me and level making. Like some others have said, unless you have an online following of some sort, it really seems like your levels will go nowhere.

I have 5 levels up (I had 7 at one point but I literally had 0 plays on 2 of my levels) and I usually get like 2 notifications a day of someone playing my levels.

It kind of sucks to pour a lot of time and thought into a level to have it fall by the wayside because I don't have a giant youtube or twitch channel.

Holy crap, I'm checking out the top levels this week, and there are a bunch where people have made some really inpressive tunes play out as you run/stand on a moving platform. So far I've heard the Zelda theme, Gourmet Race, and a fantastic version of the Squid Sisters song from Splatoon.

Give it a couple of months or so and come back. That's what I'm intending to do if I hit my limit.

Sure, the personalities will still be up there, but a lot will have moved on and the initial rush will die down, so I think people playing will see some new courses without having to have them promoted.

SMW cape was awesome. I plan on making a more challenging cape stage soon. But I think I will stick to the failure doesn't lead to death thing. Something I'll also do for a third flying spring stage.

They should just make a new filter for the little guys stuff I think, make it so that the other tier stuff is most visible.

I suppose it's possible, but usually it's gimmicky bullshit that makes the level hard because you don't know what's coming, and it's just big game of trail and error. As the creator you obviously know where everything is because you made it!

I don't think some people understand that if your level unfairly kills me once or twice I just hold the minus button and move on.

I'm holding out hope that things improve. I played two great levels in Expert mode last night which were a breath of fresh air.

Was that the one that started off with DIE in flames? He was super composed on that one, I'd have tried reaching through the screen and choking someone!

But yeah, cool stream Sixfortyfive. Shame I need to sleep before work.

D4: The Dave Identity 1DE0-0000-0043-6437

The fourth installment of the acclaimed series Spiky Dave has officially gone live on Mario Maker. This new map is packed with classic Spiky Dave gameplay along with some new twists. Can you at last discover Dave's secret? Follow the clues. Things aren't always what they seem...

The Spiky Dave series, known for its challenging but fair, risk and reward gameplay, originally launched in September 2015 and has since garnered cumulatively over 20 stars and numerous awards. Play it today.

Challenge: Find Dave, and kill him. Both are possible to do, and will require skill and resourcefulness. The only hint I'll give is that you'll know when you've found him.

Worked out a nice method with platforms on tracks to lead the player to 4 rooms in a particular order then return to the lobby. Like a little train set.

There's an extra life to get in each room for a bit of extra challenge

Not a fan, sorry bro. It literally begins with an insta death. There's no real indication on how to progress other than dying a lot and trying off the wall stuff. The bit with all the hammer brothers was just cheesy since you had to take hits to grab the flower just to get hit with a thwomp that's off screen.

If your goal was to frustrate and troll. Success!

Just seeing the name "Spikey Dave" makes me want to remake a Dangerous Dave level in Mario Maker and call the level "Mario in: Copyright Infringement" just to go full circle.

Probably my favorite outta the set i just played, really feels like SMW a stage in that bonus world or something just easier, really not much to criticize with this stage looking forward to more of your work Finn
give me an Ice Kingdom stage

I am desperately needing some stars as I am approaching the 10 upload cap, but I want to earn them, so I have a collection of seven stages I could use some feedback on. I've already revised my fourth one, so I am comfortable making changes to the others as well.

Here they are, please give them a try. Some of them can be pretty hard, but I feel they are fair. There are many alternate paths, and I have yet to find something that cannot be passed.

Played these 2 stages enjoyed them both, ParaKoopa was a bit too easy due to skinny mushroom power up, but the platforming was nice, not to hard but still needed to pay attention. have you tried making the level auto scroll slowly might add anothe rlayer of challenge while still keeping it pretty easy and fun.
As for your second stage, liked the popping paranaplat stage, even though there was cheap death at the end that made me rage lol. But name of the stage i shoulda expected it lol. Appreciated the Star secret as well, reward myself for being curious

Great stage one of the few Ashley stages i liked, and ghost mansion stage. As for suggestion maybe a few trick doors perhaps and maybe even a giant magikoopa boss fight would spice things up near the end or in a secret room perhaps? Either way great stage.
Alright time to try out some more stages.
