I'm not impressed. This was Sage's first fight against a real opponent (previous opponents' combined record is 42-48) and it was a fluke. Opponent slips and the guy gets free shots. Another great white hope for the UFC. Hope it goes well for the kid but the UFC shouldn't give its hopes up.

Cause the shock when landing would make your head pop backwards, hence giving your neck much easier for the choke.
you ever been in a choke? you know when there's no way out.. it's do or die in that situation, and a slam is a great attack in that situation, especially if they don't brace.

I've been in a choke before yes, and droping on your back in that situation like I said is just dumb, it wouldn't help you in anyway. The impact is not nearly strong enough for someone to let go of a choke, plus it gives your neck even more if the choke is not already 100% under the chin. Why wouldn't they brace for it? They are already stiff from putting pressure onto the choke, and they are aware of it.
On a dumb scale, it's probably just a bit lower than doing a front flip trying to face slam the opponent onto the mat, and that's only because there have been people getting paralysed from it. (the ones in the choke) Though it is much riskier and stupid, it is definitely more effective than a "back body drop!" for sure.

Since when does the UFC have Shooto Brazil and Pancrase video?
Most of the UFC fighters from Chechnya/Dagestan have really wild striking. Looping punches, chin up, etc. Even the more successful guys like Khabib. When it works it works, but almost all of them leave so many openings to get countered.
