Yeah, he borrows more than a little of his design from Mega Mewtwo X (which makes it seem likely that when Mewtwo inevitably becomes playable he'll use the X form for his burst attack).

Mewtwo here does sound like a male (you hear him groan in pain after that punch spam sends and that shield breaks).

Maybe Mega Mewtwo X is considered to be the original and Y is the female Unova one? Just guessing.

I like the voice however little you hear of it. Wonder how he would've done with that voice in Smash 4.

Was pretty obvious Mega Mewtwo X would be the final boss, it's just too perfect, but Dark Mewtwo? Is there some sort of Tekken trope going on here?

It might end up tying into Z. Mewtwo in XY was just there with no rhyme or reason. This guy could be part of a Delta Episode-esque postgame story arc for Z.

Assuming that it were a special form made for Z (I personally don't think this will be the case), it does have that crystal lodged in its chest, so perhaps it could Mega Evolve without holding a stone? It would be interesting if that happened, but I won't let myself expect too much.

Yeah it's just a special form for Pokken. Like Dark Dialga above and Dark Lugia for Pokemon XD.

I don't think it'd be popping up in the mainline games.

I think it would be pretty cool if these bosses were added as like a tease of the next playable character, like you get to fight Dark Mewtwo now before he gets added, and then there is a dark version of the next character (Dark Hitmonlee for example) added via surprise update.
