First list of Xbox One backward compatibility games revealed

Not a bad list, but still some good games on there that I have digital or disk. Was really hoping for Halo Wars as part of the initial batch, but the fact they mention it along with Halo Reach is great for me!

It is still such a big thing for them to do. I am sure that not all games play nice with it and they have to do tweaks to make it work. I mean with the differences in architecture, I am amazed that this is happening at all.

While some may think the list is shit, you have to take into account what they are doing here under the hood. Having big games like Mass Effect, All the Gears of War games, Fable 2 is a pretty good start. Sure, RDR, Halo Reach and a few others would of made this list a 1,000 times better, but still happy we are getting this at all.

12 games in the list for me, would be 13 if Castle Crashers wasn't already ported and given away for free to us :) Also if DLC ever gets supported, I'll probably care more about Borderlands.

Not an awful list, but truly a bummer to see so much first part stuff missing and Red Dead, which was by far the community's biggest request. Also sad to see no multi-disc games yet, even though people didn't believe me in the other thread when I said games like Lost Odyssey and ME2/3 weren't gonna be there :(

DLC is supported day one. Borderlands includes all DLC in the base package now (same with Gears of War 1). Other games like Mass Effect support DLC and its installable just like Xbox One DLC.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Kinda disappointed that the Bioshock games are on there as I was really hoping they would get a definitive edition on PS4/X1.

Maybe they still will and have BC.

Am I the only person on GAF wants Destiny: The Taken King to be backwards compatible? I play the game in all four formats and it would be nice to play with Guardians that use the 360 and XBOX One using the same
Elite
and
soon to obtain Mixamp TR
. But due to the complexity of the engine, the 360 version would be hard to emulate. Also, I voted for Destiny in the Microsoft request poll too.

That wouldn't work. You would still be playing Destiny with other 360 users. It wouldn't mix players on 360 and One.

I am well aware of that, I want the ease of changing the two clients within the same unit since there are people on my friends list who are available on the 360 who are not interested in getting the game on the XBOX One. I enjoy playing with the two distinct communities on the 360 and the XBOX One.

So... are these games likely to run better than they did on the Xbox 360 or is it going to be like the digital foundry article were the games are basically either unplayable or barely playable...

Did anyone see this video published on the Xbox channel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSTDJPI2VTk I'm wondering if there were a couple last minute pull outs. With the exception of a few, this video published today is only of the 104 announced.

some loading can be faster, but otherwise it'll play like the 360 version, with some maybe dropping a frame or two.

I don't have GWG and never will. Wanted to use the 360 version...

Do you mean you don't have xbl? Live and Plus are pretty much mandatory to get everything out of a console this gen.

I'd imagine 360 TR support will come eventually, particularly with Microsoft being cozy with CD.

Kinda off topic but reading that interview on Windows Central with Mike Ybarra, he said they have 2 more things in the works that will hopefully turn out to be viable that are on the same technical level as BC, any ideas of what he was talking about?

What do you mean mandatory? I never had live and never will, what am I missing out of the console?

Maybe streaming a PC to Xbox One.

The only important thing is Online-Multiplayer.

If you don't play games online then you are missing out on nothing IMO.

If you happen to like MP, it's damn near mandatory.

It's interesting that RDR was the most requested game. Not that I'm ever disappointed when the game receives any kind of praise, but it's strange given that GTA is a much bigger deal. I guess GTA V did get remastered for both PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe that played a factor.

Wowsers. Probably BC on PC. Hopefully game streaming from Bone while an app is running.

Hey, Fable 2 is on the list. I haven't ever played it so I guess I will go to Gamestop tomorrow for a used copy.

I'm excited!

Decent list. On the first party side, a lot of my favourites have been there since June (Mass Effect and Rare's catalogue). Nice to see Halo Reach coming. I think I also might pick up Fable 2 sometime. Little surprised to see the lack of Alan Wake, maybe it has something to do with the licensed music?

For third party games, I'm really hoping we get Witcher 2 and Dark Souls soon.

Beating a dead horse but I still can't get over this.

Sonic CD
Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 3

No Sonic & Knuckles? What the fuck?

I must say NiGHTS was a pleasant surprise, though.

irrelevant but I'm still salty we never got Sonic R on XBLA. We got the Adventure games and Fighters, but no R.
