Really, I don't think they need to this year. Last year, they desperately needed to do promotions, but this year they are going to be $299 on BF and Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, Tomb Raider (lol), and Battlefront will help sell consoles. They can relax a bit and get some profit.

Yep, they were definitely going too far asking for the sales of multiple sales at once and even Google searching "NPD George". I would probably leave too if someone actually tried to stalk me on Google. Hopefully he makes a surprise return in November.

Considering his username had the group name and a first name, I'm not surprised. It was a simple google search away, if the google search was correct, it probably isn't that he doesn't want to come back, moreso he's really busy and doesn't have enough time for "console wars".
He came back after people was investigating in the first instance.

Maybe I should have said Killzone:SF instead of AC. I don't see why Halo 5 will have legs when it is just another shooter now, esp. one without a sticky multiplayer base.

Halo will definitely have better legs than Killzone, KZ sold 2.1 million in its first month & a half, I don't it think sold much more than 900k since then, so 3 million is probably the maximum that game sold. Halo will probably sell at least 500k on NPD in the next two months & maybe 700k WW, with heavy bundling next year I can see it reach 5-6 million LTD.
I don't know why people are discounting Assassin's Creed WW either, the series always did "okay" on NPD but ends up doing phenomenal numbers everywhere else, & we've learned before that trends in the US don't necessarily translate to EU or RotW, the only other market that matches US trends is the UK.
It won't sell 10 million anytime soon, but I can see it doing 7 million.

No doubt PS4's cod & swbf bundles are going to tear it up, but have you seen Target's Black Friday xbone bundle offer yet? They threw that $60 gift card in again. And people doubted MS would repeat last year's holiday season tactics.
But then again, an official cod bundle with exclusive marketing including month early access to content, an official SWBF bundle with a new SW movie releasing building hype, and a UC bundle at $299 makes things a lot different from when MS had their amazing holiday deals going up against what Sony offered last year.
Still though, I think sales are going to be pretty close. I expected MS to take October and Sony to take the holidays overall, but MS just seems to kill it during the holidays. It's difficult for me to see them getting stomped at this time, and I really wouldn't be shocked if they win outright. For me, the only shock would be a blow out either way.
After NPD George's appearance, there were people in here saying they didn't need cream anymore. Thankless bunch of...
So I wouldn't blame him if he said screw this.
As for NPD George. I don't think she/he/they left. George said "he" wouldn't be posting regularly. I think George will be back again. I'd bet surely by the next prediction thread if not sooner.

Why do we keep thinking he's gone? Surely the expectation wasn't that he was just gonna supply us with every single number was it? Thats naive at the least. He got his name changed and a new avatar. He'll probably be back next month to trickle the most interesting NPD bits just like he did this month.
Twice, I think. Aqua (before her final farewell) requested a few month self-ban when a few Gaffers piled on her.
I think GopherD suffered a similar fate.
It's definitely, and unfortunately, not uncommon.
AC3 was an anomaly, & that game was the best selling Assassin's Creed by far, all the other AC games sold 1+ million on NPD, & wound up hitting 10+ million worldwide.

Going into bf, both are relatively even in terms of discounts. I think xb1 does have an advantage in 1 of the places with 60 dollar gc.
But, Ms might pull something out of their arse that surprises everyone.

Even with the huge by mistakes sony and the 45% drop ps3 still competed and sold great. Comparing the wii sales is pointless to me cause, it follows no trend, it sold cause of the motion control fad, that now irrelevant, all those franchises that sold amazing on wii are now on wiiu in beautiful HD looking 10x better yet they can't even push the wiiu over 11 million. Reason is that audience is not what kept console gaming going for all these generations, they don't care about the nextgen hardware or graphics, they just,wanted to play some games with motion controls. It's not like playstation where all sony has to do is release a console with a generation leap in graphics at a reasonable price and it's guaranteed to sell.
this is the easy way out. no critical analysis of why things were popular or why they aren't any longer, and what the video game industry looks like in a bigger picture. psp was like the real popular place for console-like games and graphics on a handheld. i guess that was a fad too huh. just disappeared into the ether. at least the ps4's doing well because that's really what matters this gen.

i don't really follow handheld's but obviously that market is dying. playstation consoles has been the only console doing really well 3 out 4 generations now so thats nothing new. everybody has there point of view but the console market is dominated by the playstation brand now, they fucked up bad with ps3 much worse then wiiu but the brand is so strong they recovered. nintendo fans think nintendo messed up with the wiiu but in reality it was always gonna be this way, nintendo consoles have been in decline since the super new era. bearing another miracle like the motion controls i don't see another nintendo console being successful.
He was probably smart and just bounced before GAF can ruin yet another good thing. You guys (the ones responsible for chasing off George) really need to learn how to respect people's personal identities
His pies got irrelevant the moment George started giving numbers.

Bit like in October on Amazon best sellers PS4 UC bundle was 19th, Halo bundle 25th, followed by TLoU and Destiny bundles at 49th and 59th respectively. Gears bundle was 77. So PS4 should have won, but it still didn't. Amazon is good indicator and has been correct in past, but isn't still the whole picture.

If we have someone who "supposedly" works for NDP, and is authorized to share some data with us, why would he continue to leak data at risk to himself? The data is not public. Creamsugar was sticking his neck out for years, as I think was obvious from the fact that his leaks became more and more obfuscated as time went by.
That said, some posters got embarrassing in their efforts to praise NPD_George or ask for numbers. I know it is exciting to get some figures plainly stated after so long, but self-restraint people
You'd think that we were seeing the return of full NPD report leaks (ala the early 2000s) on GAF.
I mean yea I figured so as well. Don't really see any reason why it wouldn't be allowed but well I guess I'll just PM some mods just to make sure before I post anything.

How good are these numbers? Anything in NPD_George's bar chart that allows going back and tightening things up? I asked pages back but it was lost in the fun and games.

How long did it take 360 to hit 10M on NPD? I know Microsoft had that "first to 10M post", even though they only beat the Wii by a month or two (although I guess they were right in that they "won" in the US).
Looks like PS4 will easily get there in its 25th month. Xbox One will likely have to wait until December.
Yup. And probabily netween 11.5 / 12.0 million by end of December.
360 sold 10m in 30 months.
