I adore HL2. You should give the "HL2 Update" mode a try. It's free and on steam. It spruces up the effects and lighting and a few textures, but for the most parts leaves everything else as-is. Sort of a remaster. Here are my screenshots (posted earlier in the thread) using that mod: http://imgur.com/a/Jp1Z8

Man, I love HL1 and 2. This reminds me that - on the other hand - I didn't enjoyed Ep1, and I've never finished Ep2 because it seemed worse than the previous one.

I felt Episode 2 was quite a bit better than Episode 1. It still suffers from the fact that it's not a full sequel, but the encounters are much better than Episode 1. The final encounter is either one of the best things experienced in Half Life, or one of the worst, depending on what type of gameplay you like.

You should definitely give it a try.

I have to admit when I first saw the Pre-Alpha PS4 footage of Star Wars Battlefront this summer I was concerned. Behind closed doors they showed the Endor level that was clearly running at less than 1080p and riddled with aliasing. I was convinced the game could never look as good as the trailer they released. Boy, was I wrong. Sometimes my eyes can't believe what they're seeing. Frostbite is legit. Now give me a single player game using the same engine and assets and I'll be good.

Does Battlefront use voiumetric lighting? Because the only gripe I have with the graphics is that it can look a little flat. If that makes sense.

That would be awesome.
Could happen too if EA pulls some strings. Does EA own Frostbite or is it DICE's property?
Unreal Engine 4 is also a good engine for ME.

Frostbite runs really well too.

Its already confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda runs on Frostbite 3.

Mods? What mods? Have there ever been mods for a Frostbite game?

yes http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/?

That would be awesome.

EA owns DICE. All property of DICE is property of EA as it's a subsidiary of EA. A lot of games nowadays use Frostbite in one form or the other, e.g. NFS, DA:I... ME

Volumetric lighting is what some people call 'god rays', i.e. a volume in the scene is shown due to the light. Things looking flat is either to do with normals not being present or parallax mapping not being applied (e.g. on brick walls). It doesn't look flat at all tbh... ;)

I wonder, did Ubisoft ever get into implementing tessellation (as it didn't make it to Unity) into their AnvilNext engine, meaning, is it in AC Syndicate?

Update is good but many textures are in low resolution and mod use default (Valve) skins. I use this texture pack with "update mod".

Well, EA uses Frostbite in every triple-a game nowadays (DA:I, NFS, BF, Mirror's Edge etc.) and the ME: Andromeda trailer is BioWare's "visual goal" for the game, and it looks like it could be on par with Battlefront.

I didn't know DA used frostbyte.

On ME, I think it's hard to achieve the same visual fidelity as SW:BF, since it will be a much bigger game.

EDIT: on the other hand, ME is much less hectic than BF, so who knows... :p

Hey guys :)
Credits go to devotchka132 for his Beautiful Fallout preset. I'm using the No Grain version.

Please keep in mind that I took the shots @ 4K (I also changed Fallout's ini files).
Don't expect the same results if you play at 1080p. It still looks quite nice at lower resolutions though.

4K: I get around 10-15 FPS (so its pretty unplayable at this res)
1080p: I get around 40-50 FPS.
