"Linkle", female Link, announced for Hyrule Warriors Legends

Linkle is so cute ! I'm so happy she exists !

Will the characters in this be available on Wii U as DLC without buying the 3ds game? I know that they're transferable with download codes.

I really hope we can buy them on the Wii U eShop. If we need to get the 3DS version to unlock them, that'd be bullshit.

I've been playing Zelda since part 1 and I usually play male characters when given a choice, but damn I really want this to be the canon Link for the upcoming WiiU game. Or at least to be able to choose Link's gender. She rocks.

Count me in. It's time the hero of legends gets reincarnated into a female. Or at least give us the option!

Sure, and I never talked about "any character design featuring shorts", I'm talking specifically about this one - same as the HotS/Dragons Crown characters above, the high-thigh leather boots, the skin gap between the boots and the skirt/shorts are absolutely designed to look sexy and cute. If you honestly want to insist the design is "being needed for the crossbows", be my guest, but we both know that's bull. That would be the same sort of explanation Kojima used for Quiet's outfit. Linkle is designed by a guy to appeal to a target audience, not a personality deciding what's best for her and what's practical.

Mariko Hirokane is a woman who's also worked on several other Tecmo games.

Linkle deserves to be her own character, not an option just because she's female.

I'm in agreement here. It's more interesting for her to be her own character than a Smurfette trope.

I love that she exists and hopefully will show Nintendo we're ready for a female playable character in a main Zelda game. But I can't shake the feeling that I like more the concept art Linkle than the final version but whatever. I'll be all over this... provided they release her as DLC for WiiU!

Can't imagine why choosing Links gender would be an issue. Just change all gender references to the opposite. Maybe even make Zelda a boy, too. Not that it matters, since there is never really much of a love story anyway.

Exactly. And Nintendo has this idea that the player is suppose to inject themselves into Link, yet there is no female Link. If he is such a clean/blank slate, why no female version?

If Mass Effect could pull it off I dont see how Zelda couldn't. And ME did it with vast amounts of voice acting involved while Zelda could get away with still using only text (which would make the gender option considerably easier). And eve if Zelda U did have voice acting I don't see them giving dialogue to Link himself/herself anyway so whatever. No hassle of having to record two sets of actors doing the same dialogues save some NPCs having to use both pronouns.

A female Link and a male Zelda....makes me tingle lol

Adventure Time come join your friends as we go off to distant lands......

There wasn't much doubt but confirmation was still pending, not now, she's going to be in Wii U version too, as well as Ganon new weapon (and that badass new boss kill animation):

Awesome!

Now give me the option to pay for her on WiiU without having to buy the same game I own but now on 3DS.

If they get to put all the Legends content up for us Wii U owners I would buy it all along with the previous DLC packs. With so much content it would feel like a new game.

Story content needs to be in the Wii U, otherwise they'll end up like the previous DLC characters -- no rewards, and thus empty, useless levelling husks.

It should be the best thing for us (I'm confident they'll do this like for Smash) but I'm just going to buy the 3DS game anyway because I want to support the addition of Linkle the more possible.

She looks so awesome. I really really want her on Zelda U. I'm starting to build my own hype regarding this but I think it's possible to have her playable in a way. And not like 30 minutes of basic gameplay with an excuse coming out of nowhere; I want a full part of the game with her (even DLC I'm ok) or maybe two slightly different versions of the story (one with her and one with Link).

Linkle, I can't wait for you to show me your moves ^^

Apologies if this has been asked before (it probably has), but are these updates going to be done for the Wii U version as well? Not really interested in playing a game like this on a handheld

They're being very odd about giving us specifics on the Wii U version. Right now we know that all of the new characters and weapons will be available. Currently the only announced way to get them is to own the 3DS version and then "transfer" them to the Wii U.

But I really can't imagine that will be the only way. Currently no confirmation on the in-game character switching, new maps, and new story missions.

I really couldn't imagine it won't all be available to buy though.

Wanting and/or expecting Linkle in Zelda U is just setting yourself for disappointment.

No?

Thanks. Guess I'll just have to wait for now

Has there been any confirmation on the alternate costumes from the Wii U ver. coming to Legends? Or are we not going to see the likes of Postman Link, Guardian of Time Cia, and Skull Kid Lana on the 3DS?

It was confirmed a while back, but there have been no details - so I don't think we even know if they'll be DLC again or integrated into the game's unlockables.

That's a relief. We still need confirmation that the new stages will be transferable on Wii U too, I guess.
At this point I can see a "Legends" DLC pack for the Wii U version. I'm still buying it on 3DS though.

Oh my god she's adorable. I love her in the chibi style too. Why couldn't she have been official before the ballot was over !

Yeah IIRC the Ganondorf/N64 costumes were available to buy on eShop a few months after the initial release right?
Could be the same. Characters pack and story/levels pack a while after the 3DS comes out.

That chibi/scroll screenshot from today with her holding her compass and a map, departing from Hyrule Castle to an unknown forest is the best definition of what I want from a new Zelda game with a Linkle lead :)

And for all Linkle lovers I recommend my own post from minutes ago in the cosplay thread:

I'm thinking either full sequel (with the new Legends stories as a bonus) or maybe, like Legends, a GotY version as a launch title for NX.

Nintendo should release 2 version of Zelda U. One with Link, one with Linkle. Different character, (slightly) different stories, different bosses/dungeons...
That'd be awesome lol
