Anecdotal but the Halo world champs are happening in twitch and the viewer count was less than 2k. The have was only on the twitch top 10 for like maybe 3-4 days after release. It doesn't seem to pull attention at all.

It's only the qualifiers right now and no one is really advertising it.

[December 2012 LTD] Halo 4 (US bundles not included + UK bundles included) ~ 5.4 million.
[December 2015 LTD] Halo 5 (US bundles not included + UK bundles included) ~ 2.05 million.
Yikes. I'm assuming this is due to the lingering stink from H4 and MCC, and the relatively smaller install base. I don't know how else to explain it.

It's not a matter of install base, for example here are Halo 3 sales by the end of 2007 when Xbox 360 install base was below Xbox One.

LTD as of December 2007.

US - 4.82 million / UK - 0.74 million [Total - 5.56 million]
OK, scratch install base then. I guess maybe Bungie fans moving on to Destiny may also be a factor.

Damn, when you put it this way, the decline is even more severe than I thought. But we all know that Halo 5 has insane digital sales, so it still did as well as Halo 4. :p

Also, just out of curiosity, how well was Halo 3 selling within the same time frame?

Wii U and 3DS aren't in the top 10 for December or even for the year.

So what can Nintendo even do to change this for the NX?
Have Mario kart smash( could be up remastered wiiu versions) Zelda and Pokemon ( fully voiced 3D original game) available at launch

Remastered Wii U games? Lol, no. Zelda? Perhaps. Voiced Pokemon game? Lol, Gamefreak is too conservative with money to even attempt it.

?? Nah i doubt something like that would kill pokemon. It would basically be a Pokemon coliseum type game

"fully voiced 3d original game" is a whole different scale, budget, and cost risk than "colloseum" side game, which was barebones, but still the highest selling GC rpg I believe.

If you mean the colloseum game, still, it's not as needed since pokemon battles happen online and are in 3D now. And definitely wouldn't be a launch game in any case.

I stopped playing pkmn after...I guess ruby/sapphire, but in the midst of talking about a huge franchise with a huge decline (that still has me confused as someone that doesn't follow Halo. I mean wtf happened?), you can't deny TPC knows that they're doing...business wise.

I'm just saying ways to get the NX to sell, which IMO would be getting your strongest iOS on the system as fast as possible

Either make smash and MK BC or offer them some way to be playable on the new system, since I doubt they'd have sequels so soon

Ok cut out the voice part whatever. I just think it's silly not having a legit Pokemon game on a home console. Nobody is saying stop making the handheld ones, but why keep one of your biggest Ips from your failing home consoles

from Wiki

"As of 2007, the game has sold over 1.15 million copies in the United States[37] and 656,270 in Japan.[38] It is the best-selling RPG for the GameCube.[39]"

And that's not WW obviously.

lol at a home console jrpg selling 1.15 mil in the US right now. Outside of FF and KH at least.

I think it already has including bundles

That will make this not only the fastest selling but also best selling souls game correct?

that is a cute gif.

that's awesome, if true. it's a shame though i've been hearing there won't be a sequel to it :\

There is no freaking way this game which is both a critical and commercial success will not get a sequel. This franchise is here to stay. Miyazaki's comment was on Souls and not Bloodborne. Worst case scenario would be some one else from From Soft directing the game which will be disappointing but still better than nothing. Sony did not just create a one off new IP.

I've no idea. I don't even follow the franchise.
One of the smarties did an analysis of its sales a couple of pages back which pointed in that 3 mil direction with bundles. So that's why I said it lol

It'll be between Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne in the end. DS1 pulled a lot of sales on steam (2 million to Dark Souls 2's 1 million IIRC). BB could certainly pull out ahead but I'm not too sure on the sales of DS1 console side to be able to make the call.

That is... not good. Holy crap, that is one heck of a decline.

But Phil said Halo has the longevity of Spider-Man and Star Wars. No one gets bored out of Spider-Man.

Well, the head of 343i said she wanted to run the Halo series like how George Lucas did with Star Wars, which something you DON'T want to do.

Not that bad if you add digital into consideration.

Assuming it maintained its ~28% digital ratio (which is very unlikely) that would put it at 2.8 million sold which would still be a 52% decline. That's still brutal. I mean yea its 8% less but yeesh. Over 50 percent decline for the franchise is certainly not good news.

I feel bad for Tearaway, but I think the point has been made.... no one cares about that sort of game anymore, so if you're wondering why Sony won't invest in buying the rights to Crash, why Activision won't make a proper Spyro and why Microsoft won't make a proper Banjo-Kazooie, then I'd say Tearaway is a decent measuring stick, sadly. It's especially enjoying since both versions of Tearaway are fantastic.

At least Yooka-Laylee will fill the gap, maybe.

Dark Souls series sales surpass 8.5 million: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-07-01-dark-souls-series-sales-surpass-8-5-million

Dark Souls is around 2.8 million and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is at 2.7 million. I'm thinking BB is around 3 million right now and I'm sure it'll be able to hit 4 million LTD when all's said and done. But I don't know if it'll be able to hit the 5 million mark to become best selling.

I think DS1 will probably be the best selling Soul's title for some time.

Which, considering the fact Bloodborne is only on platform is fairly impressive in and of its self.

Are you trying to calculate Bloodborne sales from that article? It spells out where the sales come from. Also that's as of the end of June.

Dark Souls has sold 2,828,000 units worldwide
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition ("with Artorias of the Abyss") has sold 2,765,000 units worldwide
Dark Souls 2 has sold 2,311,000 units worldwide
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has sold 600,000 units worldwide
That's a total of 8,504,000 sold

It was a stroke of genius to include Xbox One hardware in that count. For Halo 6 I fully expect MS to include PS4 numbers.

Maybe they won't do that if halo 6 is an improvement over halo 5 in terms of ltd in the same time period. They will have something to brag about then.

Oh I agree, I think the sales numbers are quite impressive. Both DS1 and BB had a lot of factors going for it that pushed them towards quite a lot of sales.

I'll be interested to see DS3 sales on PC. Because the DS1 to DS2 sales drop off on Steam was massive. Hopefully DS3 doesn't have a large drop like that.

No, that was just as a citation for DS numbers. The BB numbers are entirely my own guesstimates.

Edit: Whoops, double when I meant to edit it onto the previous.

The difference in install bases is pretty obscene, no?

That's what I'm thinking too, however Halo 3 did much better with a smaller install base on the Xbox 360 8 years ago. I know its two different time periods, but given the narratives, I find Halo 5 did better than I personally thought.

That being said, the mighty has definitely fallen. Lowest rated main line game and the slowest selling as well. Might give Gran Turismo 6 some competition in the sales department as slowest selling flagship title.

Best wishes.

Lol, I asked nicely yesterday. I'm greatfull for what we do get/got already, however, Ltd numbers for:

- Disgaea 5
- Tales of Zestiria
- Dragon Quest Hereos
- Omega Quintet
- Trails of Cold Steel

Would be great.
I wanna know but than i dont! I just know finding out at least half of those will make me hate north Americas tastes

I've said it before but I honestly think its more that people don't like the way Media Molecule games play. Their controls always feel off somehow and drives me absolutely crazy. I've bought Tearaway twice and own the first two LittleBigPlanet games and I have yet to beat any of aforementioned games because I cannot stand the game play/handling. And trust me it is not for lack of trying.

Wait if Bloodborne's WW sales are over 3 million does that mean it could have outsold Halo 5 WW? That would be absolutely crazy. Nobody would have thought that would even be possible a year ago. Especially considering how prevalent the "niche" dialogue was prior to Bloodborne's release.

Thanks as usual, Cream.

Halo 5 did good for a normal Game, but has flopped for a Halo Game. I don't know if call it a succes or a Flop.

Forza seem ok. It was never big in USA.

BloodBorne, like wow...!!!... That's amazing.

The Order has crap legs.

Uncharzed and Gears seem Low, but including Bundle those Games Are way bigger, easy at Halo 5 levels.

I think overall Halo 5 has done > 3 million by now. Now obviously there is no concrete data but I don't think Bloodborne has sold more than Halo 5.

Probably so but the fact that it could even be close enough to be a question is kind of mindblowing. At least to me anyway. Never in a million years would I have thought a Souls game would be within throwing distance of Halo sales.

No way. At First, i doubt BloodBorne has Sold 3 Million, it will, but is not already that high.
Second, i think Halo 5 is well Over 3 million. Nothing Close to 4 million, but i was think some like > 3.5 million.
