CBS getting Fuller for this also makes me think CBS is open for this being something different. Sure it's his dream job and he worked on a Star Trek before but I just don't see Fuller jumping on without some kind of creative control and you don't look at his past shows and immediately think of CBS material.

This is probably the most I will ever be interested in a CBS show.

Which I think would be frakking fantastic.

Although I do think that if we go big-budget film series reboot - drop "frak."

By the third reboot the series will have finally graduated to big-boy swears in full. They got rid of "felgercarb" in 2003, we'll finally get an Adama saying "FUCK THAT" into a phone on the CIC.

Not a fan of the fact that it will mostly belong to whatever on demand service CBS is launching. Bryan Fuller is a good showrunner though. Hannibal and Pushing Daisies may have been short lived, but they left an impact.

I hope so. I would imagine that CBS is LOOKING for fresh ideas at this point in time and I think Bryan Fuller would do a good job at bringing a fresh feel to the franchise while still keeping it in line with what Trek fans would want to see.

(that was the show)

Well now it depends on if you're solely responsible for that line, and fought for it by crashing the set and barricading a trailer.

You're missing the point, though, even if you're joking.

No, I get it. Even though I don't think Joss Whedon is one of the best examples.

Bryan Fuller has had a good run as TV producer so far, so I am looking forward to what he comes up with. I just hope he has taken down some notes on what to avoid from Voyager.

No idea who he is, but I was hoping the template would be more like Next Generation than the original series though.

Voyager was a LONG time ago. In my opinion his more recent work has been incredible. Bryan Fuller earned his place among my top tier list with shows like Hannibal so this news personally has me beyond excited.

Plus no Rick Berman and Brannon Saga in this Star Trek series, Fuller will be the one steering the series.

Every Star Trek has someone involved you could say this about.

If there were messageboards in the 1960s, they woulda been saying it about fucking RODDENBERRY.

And they'd have been right to be nervous, too.

(also, of the Kurtzman/Orci duo, I believe it was Orci that was the nutty one)

I was worried about Hannibal when I found out it was his new project but it turned out amazingly, even with the diversion in style from his previous works which I wholeheartedly adore.
I have full faith in him to create something great.

Being a staff writer (or a low level writer) on something means nothing in terms of your ability to create something good later on. That's an issue we've had where if you're worked on Friends, you can literally sell anything and have a good chance to to get it on the air. And that's how you get... this.

Will Wheaton as captain.

And, looking at Bryan Fuller's resume, he worked on 81 episodes of Star Trek Voyager... hopefully that doesn't rub off in this new show.

To be fair, his Voyager credits are for the most part pretty solid. He did the best work he could under the circumstances.

This is interesting news indeed. Fuller on board greatly raises my hopes that we actually get a good show. I mean this is the man who wrote the episode Company Man for Heroes, which is unequivocally the best ep of the entire series. Bryan's a very good writer, and he's also a huge Star Trek fan and enthusiast. Very hopeful!

So how many of you are going to subscribe to their VoD service to watch it?

I won't right away. I'm going to see the pilot first over free TV and after that I'll decide if it's worth paying money for. I do love Star Trek though, so if they give us a good show I can see myself paying for it. Kurtzman on board has me worried though, I wish he wasn't part of this.

Good choice. He seems like a real Trek fan and not someone like Orci that doesn't seem to get fully get Trek. Although I don't doubt his sincerity that he's a fan, he's maybe not a fan for the right reasons.

Whatever, Trek is much more a television form production, and having someone from TNG era at the helm could help.
