Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition |OT| Mourning Wood

Just finished my 2nd 100% clear run on One Life mode. First one was 2h 37min. This one was 2hr 26min.), hell yeah sub 2:30!! The first run I used the cut scene glitch to disable those pesky lasers in Moon Grotto, ao I decided I needed to do a glitchless run.

No glitches, skips, quitting out to menu, or sequence breaks. Single-segment flawless run. :) :)

Well I bought Ori about a month ago but then I heard about the Definitive Edition so decided to wait till now to play it.

Just startede it up and the instant I heard the music that plays during the pub/dev logos, I knew I was in for something special. Incredible

Just finished watching the prologue and I cannot believe I waited till now to play this. The backdrops are the most impressive thing I have ever seen.

I know I'm going to play this in one sitting. I went into this game knowing aboslutely nothing except all the hype from GAF and I doubt its going to disappoint.

So far an amazing game. Well done to Moon Studios and I cannot wait to see what you make next!

Edit: While I'm posting this. Can anyone give me examples of other games of this genre that I should play?

Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, Cave Story!

Getting 100% is harder than I expected. I almost did it in the original version, but being unable to backtrack to the ruins or the tree made it impossible. Now I have the opposite issue. Every area says 100% or 99%, but I can't find the last few pickups in the 99% areas, because nothing is marked on the map anymore.

You're a freak. please tell me you make money off playing games. i saw your achievement list and was floored ha ha

Lol I wish. My measely 1300 subscribers on youtube would not pay any bills. I dont even monetize my channel because it would not be worth the pennies I woukd get to annoy my viewers with ads. ;)

My achievement list is a note on how good Ori is... I normally ditch a game a soon as I 100% the achievements lol.

Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, Cave Story!

Grats! :)))

Thanks! Next goal is sub 2h15min 100%, but I will need to learn how to sequence break or get MUCH more efficient in my path through the game.

Also I was wrong abut quitting out preventing your time from posting to the Global board in One Life. I just misunderstood the board. All.the other difficulties' global boards go by death count, with the #1 person being the person that died the most (weird). In One Life, the Global #1 is whoever played One Life mode the longest without dying (also weird, could just AFK that).

Just escaped from the Ginso Tree. I kept failing right at the end like 20 times but managed to do it in the end. Love that feeling. Just like a souls game

Possibly a stupid question, but how exactly do I get the discounted DE on Xbox One if I already have the base game? It only shows up for full price in the store.

If you have the base game on that account you should see DE with a 75% off, make sure you are logged in with the account you bought the original. Try using the web store if you were seeing it on the console.

Yeah, I get excited every time I see a thread bump in the hope there's some news about the Steam version. Really buzzing for it.

Well to be fair going for 100% on Hard isnt really worth it because it takes 25 more points to buy all skills on the skill tree, meaning you would have to grind a lot at the end of the game if you want the phenom achievement. It would be good for leaderboards, though.

Well shit. Chose hard because I played the original and now I'm going to have to start over on normal because of this. Had just finished the Ginso Tree too.

I'm glad to hear about the progress on the Steam version. I can't wait to upgrade and play this game all over again!

Loving this game all over again. Bloodborne is fantastic, but Ori is something else and easily my favourite game this generation.

Gutted about the mechanise store though. I'd love to buy this:

http://www.oriblindforestshop.com/product/4FAP002/ori-naru-canvas-art?cp=81001_81246

But it's only available for customers in the US :(

All I can hope for is they release a physical edition! Would love an Ori canvas as well though - gutted.

PM me if youd like to work something out. I would have to order them snd ship them to you once I receive them, so I woukd need merch cost in advance, shipping cost after you receive them. Shipping one of those canvas prints across the pond prob wouldnt be cheap, though.

The way the new abilities are woven into the rest of the game are really good. Was a little worried how that would turn out, but it's just as cohesive an experience as it was in the vanilla game.

Can we be hopeful for the 360 version ?

My guess is physical collector's edition announcement. I'm pretty sure the 360 version died a long time ago. That system just couldn't run this game properly.

@Thomas - You know what? The more I play this game, the more Mario influences I see. Am I just imagining things? I mean they're just screaming at me lately. Also some really cool stuff in that Early Beginnings behind-the-scenes. Some of that would've been sweet in Mt Horu. So glad the more gruesome Ori death animations didn't make the cut. Just wouldn't fit the tone of the game IMO.

Give me a break with this crap. Lots of technical accomplished games are running on 360 and a 2d platformer wouldn't ? Right......

It's my opinion man, I'm not a programmer. The fact that there are absolutely zero loading screens or anything like that, in a game that doesn't re-use assets, makes me wonder of the 360 COULD run it.

I get tired of the "it's just a 2D platformer" argument. There are vastly different levels of "2D platformer", some more system-taxing than others. Sure they could probably get it running, but maybe they don't want it to run at 720p, or 30fps, or some other sacrifice to get it to work. I have no idea, but to just immediately assume it would work on the 360 because "2D lolz" is kind of an asinine statement. And considering mum's been the word about a 360 version for a LONG time, like I said, there's at least as solid chance it's dead.

Thanks for the offer mate - and would have taken you up if I'd seen this first - but ended up buying my own canvas with a picture I found on the net - only £15 here in the UK. No idea what the quality will be like....but it's worth the risk at that price!

For as much as I love this game I site do die a lot. Moon Grotto was being mean to me tonight! I will say that moving X to a back bumper on the Elite controller is super helpful, and definitely makes fights easier.

Moon Grotto isn't remotely hard, wait till you get to Forlorn Ruins and Sorrow Pass lol.

Yes, I mean, it was so sudden. One or two days before releasing it was like "lol nope for you PC gamers", and they didn't even say an estimated date... Very strange.

It's all looking good from our side on PC - So you can expect news soon. Once the dev is done, the game also has to go through CERT, etc., so there's a short delay. It'll be out very soon and remember that the PC versions also have glorious 21:9 support :)

I don't know if you can talk about this but what do you mean about cert? Is that only for the Windows 10 store or does MS have to certify releases/patches on other distribution sites?

I'd think a 2 player mode would be cool, not one player controlling Sein and the other controlling Ori, two different Ori's.
Could be a mess but eh I dunno

There's a CERT process on Win10 similar to X1 and it just has to go through testing after we're done on our side. We want to make sure that nothing slipped past us, since that's what you guys expect from a Definitive Edition :)

Any updates on PC release? I just played through the entirety of the original version for the second time yesterday in anticipation for the definitive edition.

Picked this up on the Steam sale last year and was thinking about playing it next. For a first play through does the extra content really matter or should I just go ahead with the current version?

Finished it today, I thought I'd die less since I completed the original last year but nope. Still loved it though! Found 95% of the secrets, going to have to dive back in and try to find the missing one.

Soon! And there'll be another cool announcement with it as well :D

Crossing fingers for a retail edition *_*. Also congrats to you and all your team for such a unique and incredible game.
Also if you can answer to the question, has the game gone well(sales wise)? It's just for curiosity and for knowing if we can expect many more games from your amazing studio :D.

Ori was a huge success for us and we sold way more copies than any of us thought we would - We can't release any sales figures due to NDAs, but yeah, we're already working on new projects. And I'm SUUUUUPER excited about the stuff we're currently doing, it'll blow you guys off your socks :) So thanks to everyone who supported and supports us by buying Ori - It definitely helps us making more and better stuff! :)

If a physical edition is announced, I would buy in a heartbeat. Playing through Definitive and remembering how amazing the game is.

Can't wait to see what they do next. One of my favorite games of all time.

Play the original, its worth it and this is a game you will probably want to play more than once anyway. Replay it once the DE releases. ;)

Just finished it and wow. Absolutely amazing. The ending actually made me shed some tears. That was so heartbreaking.

I was just reading a thread earlier about stories in video games and wow that just made it to the top of my list.

Amazing work Moon Studios. I can't wait to see your future projects!!
