No face buttons??
I hope Nintendo is not planning to release this thing for real!

It makes no sense! Substitute face buttons for an analogic stick (or something like that) is an horrible idea! Third party developers won't make a different version of their games to adapt to that situation which doesn't have a dedicated stick to move the camera. If Nintendo 3rd party support is already low, that may only make things worse.

Dear god... If they decide to do it, there's no way I will buy it without retrocompatibility.

Is the reflection of the one who takes the picture in the monitor and the monitor reflected on the device's screen.

And probably there are some touch buttons there in some game.

You know, it's kind of silly to have that big "CONFIDENTIAL PROPERTY" sticker right on the side of the thing. Devkits NEVER have those. Usually the stickers on a devkit are only serial numbers and sometimes "Not for resale/sale/retail, beta only etc."

That, and the fact the guy has posted multiple pictures of just the front of the system instead of the top and back.

I also find it not coincidental that the first shot, with its super-fake UE4 copy/pasta, was then shelved in favor of shots of the device with nothing on the screen...

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to 3D printing but can you actually 3D print a smooth, reflective surface like the screen with a standard, consumer-level 3D printer? I mean, theoretically speaking, the reflections could be photoshopped but if they are, they're photoshopped really well.

That part could just be a sheet of plastic cut to fit the rest of it. I'm not saying the whole thing is 3D printed, I know they can't do gloss like that yet, I'm just saying that the fact that it's a real physical object does not automatically mean it isn't a fake.

No, that's wrong. 3D printers don't work that well. You'd be able to tell from rough edges.

Yes which could be smoothed over. We have a 3D printer in our New York office I've seen the stuff they can make with them, from really shitty looking stuff that looks like it's made out of sand to very impressive complex objects. And again I'm not saying the entire thing is 3D printed, the top would obviously be another material, but I'm just saying that it could be.


People used to spend countless hours photoshopping fakes to make them look real. We now have the technology that someone could actually physically make a fake thing to pass off as real.

#TeamReal! This thread is moving so fast. Looking at the latest photos with the WiiU near by for reference, there seems to be enough screen real estate in-between the sticks to use for VR. I wouldn't be surprised if this will pop into a VR headset.

I think this is real, but the final product will look quite different and actually have buttons and a more ergonomic shape. This whole thing is wild, but I trust in Nintendo to release a good and comfy controller.

I'm #TeamRealPrototype and the actual product, while pretty similar will have a few major changes.

I had many doubts about the Game Pad being comfy. It looked huge and the Wii Remote was a terrible, uncomfortable controller. But in practice, Game Pad actually was a very comfortable controller for long play periods. It fit in my hands well. For me at least.

I could see this having Wii U-ish graphics and costing $299, and there being a $199 base station that lets it stream gamepad style to your TV in full 1080p

The Wii U held the console graphics up to wait for the 3DS's successor, it makes perfect sense. There will be no more difference between graphics on handheld and console anymore, because itll be one big platform
