Original NX Controller leak revealed fake by leaker.

the second picture is obviously the render

Sort of proves his point then.

what about the confidential stickers?

Companies don't just write "Confidential Property" on a prototype. It would be the full thing, their company, the product serial number, some kind of code track. Not just saying "psst it's secret." And normally they wouldn't put it on the controller, the part of the console with the most wear.

As i said in the other thread i have always the suspicion that some leaks are commisioned/helped/made by the manufacturers themselves to see people reactions and eventually change the product with another ready (more conventional i hope)prototype, if that's the case i guess that Nintendo didn't like our reaction, luckily i'd say :)

Nah.

Even those who will inevitably express disdain or disinterest in NX will find themselves focusing in on this, in the same way Nintendo fans were undoubtedly watching the PS4 and Xbox One reveal events in 2013. Any time one of these companies debut a new generation of hardware, there's a scope to this that no revision or extension is going to "overshadow". VR may have had this potential, but we've heard about and seen all the relevant technology.

It's like the biggest thing that can happen at an E3.

Exactly.

200 pages into the thread about the now fake NX controller and now all of a sudden no one was fooled by it right? If this thread is anything to go by everybody just knew it was fake wasn't it?

Lol #Team real indeed. You naysayers got me dammit, I even started believing it on the second thread though I called it fake on the first thread. Thank God man, I knew Ninty was better than that. We just need some proper NX info to chill everyone out a bit.

Gaming journalism integrity has hit a new low.

Shameful number of websites and twitter journalists spreading FUD by claiming their sources "say its true from what they've been hearing".

Nintendo should sue.

Companies tend not to listen to people, and i think in general , rightly so.

Someone made a post earlier in the other thread based on general consensus of GAF through out the ages, we've (and the gaming community as a whole) been wrong on the success of literally everything, bar the WII U. I think the post suggested this:

wrong about DS
wrong about Wii
50/50 about 3ds
right about wiiu

wrong about mobile gaming
50/50 about psp (leaning to wrong, but it did very good in the end, mostly because of it's success in japan)
wrong about vita

The other problem is, we're also like the boy that cried wolf. Everything Nintendo shows , or new tech in general in the gaming sphere, seems to hated at first.

Cross post.
Wow now i want a 3d printer and all the rest, but is it normal for a 3d printer to leave all those residuals?

While true that gamers and people in general don't like innovations at first i think manufacturers listen to people(remember that products are made to be bought by us!) not to change completely a product, because the basic idea of the product cannot change, but to make some refinement and little changes to appeal to a wider public.

Obviously this is just my idea, but if i was a manufacturer i think i would do something like that, a free, wide and anonymous survey to test the waters before the finalization, why not?

Sometimes, yes. The material is very malleable and sometimes it won't dry as cleanly as you will hope, so sanding it down on the residuals is usually how to smooth it out the way you want.

This leaker right now:

I remember when I made a fake Gamecube for April Fools. It had a cart slot for old games, but the actual slot was copied off a Saturn. I made it look like a scan off a JP magazine, and it did fool some people.

This was pre-GBA Player too, by the way.

This whole sorry episode just frustrated me. Not only because so many people were being taken in by the idea of a consumer product looking exactly like concept images from a patent application (which never, ever happens), but also because so many people apparently actually believe Nintendo would release something so inherently impractical and blatantly uninspired.

Whether you liked the Wiimote and the Wii U Gamepad or not, at least they both had clearly demonstrable use cases. What are the arguments in favor of a controller whose whole face is a screen, with an image you partially block with your hands when you hold the thing, beyond just "It looks kind of cool"? There aren't any.

Not sure I agree with this. I agree that no buttons are dumb. But gadget sex appeal is a thing and there's a reason why some people pay 100$ more for a S7 Edge than an S7 phone. I'd like to see the visuals flow across the unit. It doesn't detract from anything, you still get a full wide screen format in between, it's just bonus flare on the side.

I recall that once gaffer...Stilton Disco, making it seem like Nintendo's future was dreary at best, using these "leaks" as evidence.

Oh who am I kidding? There are a ton of people like him who will use anything and everything as proof that Nintendo is doomed. Even if supposed "proof" really has no basis.
