Can I download only the base version and not the one with 75 GB of videos? How big is the size of the base version? I will download once I get back home in some time.

I think you only download them if you want to watch the scenes at guaranteed high resolution, otherwise they're streamed.
Or I could be completely wrong.

Yeah I would prefer to download the version without the videos and then have the videos stream during the game.

Yeah... I've completely lost all hype for this game.
This is the only game I've actually cancelled a pre-order for in years.
I'll just get a used copy in the distant future for like $5 and just watch a let's play on youtube to see if I like the story.

Were you given the option to skip the FMV for the preload, and just download the game?
I heard the FMV is only around 80 minutes of content. Why the hell is it so huge is file size? You can download 80 minutes worth of content in 1080p for like under 2gb. Even without compression it shouldn't be THAT high.
Unless these videos are 16k resolution... seriously never seen 80 minutes of video being around 75gb... wtf! lol
Also it's a damn shame that there is NO word whatsoever on the PC version of the game. Microsoft is clearly trying to hide it. I just hope it isn't a broken mess. Remedy usually does solid ports though. The Alan Wake ports were fantastic in my opinion.

Oh man, sorry I can't remember if an option was given. I just think the game started downloading and not the video because I had to go and specifically tell it to download that video stuff. That might have been because I didn't have much free space on my hard drive at the time, but have since connected another hard drive.
From what I understand, you're downloading all the different permutations of the episodes that could possibly appear due to choices you make in game. It does still sound a little larger than I'd expect, though. It doesn't matter anyways since you're given the option to just stream it though.

No..... Something about video is in 4k for PC version..... So if you don't have a 20mbps connection minimum.... Prepared to be fucked on buffering lol

Tomb Raider, Gears, and Killer Instinct all released around 8-10AM Pacific, so I would expect the same for Quantum Break.
It's probably going to automatically choose different quality at which to buffer.

I think that's due to how the Windows Store doesn't support add-ons, they said it will get add-ons, DLC, season pass...etc support in summer.

The game and the TV show are designed to compliment each other. Although the show skipable, it seems like you would be missing out on key story beats and given this is a remedy game, I don't think that's something you would want to do.

I'm gonna reiterate this having played the game twice already: don't waste your HDD space on downloading the episodes unless you plan on watching them religiously over several playthroughs. Streaming quality is great and you'll probably only watch them once at the most, maybe twice.
I recommend at least watching the episodes on your first playthrough. After that, feel free to skip them when replaying.
