was hoping the 970 can downsample from 1440 to 1080 and keep running at a solid 60fps in order to decrease the aliasing, but too bad.
That's what the 980ti is for.

Is this true, or are you just joking around? Sad if true.
I believe it was Verendus who said Bloodborne 2 is next and then another Sony published JRPG. 3 game contract apparently.
Bleh, not a popular opinion here but not a fan of Bloodborne (as far as souls games go). Good game, but easily the worst souls game IMO.I believe it was Verendus who said Bloodborne 2 is next and then another Sony published JRPG. 3 game contract apparently.
Ah jeez, well that kind of sucks... oh well, I guess Bloodborne straight up wouldn't exist without Sony. I was just thinking that they would almost definitely try to get an expanded spiritual successor of Bloodborne out on all platforms, like they did with Demon's Souls.

Argh of course I had to forget something.Hey Durante, thanks for writing up the detailed analysis of Dark Souls 3. Do you know if the game has native 21:9 support?
It's not CPU bound on a decent gaming PC most of the time. But a few areas are just strange.I'm amazed the game is CPU-bound. Hopefully a patch can address that.

That's extremely hard to say with any certainty from the outside.Out of interest do you know why this is? Draw calls, inefficient culling etc?

If what I've been told is correct, the case with Bloodborne was that Sony went to FROM again after Dark Souls' success as a multiplatform product (PTDE in particular) looking to make amends for screwing up Demons' international release and to try and grab DaSo's 360/PC audience over to the PS4 (DeSo presumably at this point probably got people hooked by DaSo to grab a PS3 at this point, so the logic likely carries over here).
Almost certain he said no... Based on many unwarranted attacks on innocent walls.
All in all is what you haven been saying around here latelly.
Im a bit worried about my i5 3470 and running the game 1440p. Does more resolution demand more CPU? I got a 970 to pair that. Should I be worried? Variable framerate is ok, Gsync is there for it.
Probably not, and Dark Souls 2 didn't either. Will this game use VAC like DS 2 did?
I'd really hate finding cheaters online.
Oh, I thought it did.Probably not, and Dark Souls 2 didn't either.

It did have its own anti-cheat, I think, that sort of worked. Last I heard about it I think people said that it makes it so you can only connect to others who were detected cheating.Oh, I thought it did.
sooo.... cheaters heaven then.
Yeah, that's what I gathered as well when I recently did some research. Seems like a decent system. It did have its own anti-cheat, I think, that sort of worked. Last I heard about it I think people said that it makes it so you can only connect to others who were detected cheating.
I could definitely be very wrong, I think this is speculation about the system from 2014.
Not sure about the CPU but you will definitely have trouble with the GPU. My 970 is in RMA currently and I picked up a 950 to hold me over and let me tell you, it's not possible to maintain 720p60 on low settings paired with a 4790k @ 4,6GHz.Durante's articles are always so informative, good job!
I think I am going to buy DS3 on Steam and test if I can get it running on my ancient i7 950 (no overclock) and HD5870 combo. If the performance is horrible I can always get refund and buy it on PS4.

So wait, I shouldn't be able to 1080p60fps this sucker with a 3.5GHz i7, 970ti 8gb comp?

Good write up but I believe you're timeline is slightly off. There's a piece of pretty compelling evidence that suggests Sony contacted From and development (or at least preproduction and planning) on Bloodborne began before PTDE/AotA released.
Said evidence:
this guy was on the limited edition's artbook when the original game was released. So, maybe, but maybe not.
On mobile and can't watch right now, but to put my statement into perspective I got about 40~45fps on 1080p and max settings. Sure, better than console and fine with Gsync but I was just trying to make clear that a constant 60 (in areas where the game is not CPU limited) is not feasible at a reasonable resolution with lower end cards. Not complaining or anything of course, just some input for people with similar setup. That is not what every benchmark and videos we've seen out there indicate. Your PC definitely has issues, reinstall the drivers using DDU for a clean uninstall.
Just for you before I go to bed:

If the video shows something unexpected like locked 60 at high setting 1080p or whatever, I should maybe look into doing a clean install lol
Hey Durante, thanks for writing up the detailed analysis of Dark Souls 3. Do you know if the game has native 21:9 support?
:/Someone on www.wsgf.org posted a 21:9 screenshot that was pillarboxed to the closest 16:9 resolution.
Picture:
The shallow contrast they went for really annoys me.
I hope a SweetFX isn't going to impact performance too much.
:/
That armour looks really great thought at least... the shading especially.
Durante's screenshot looks really nice, what DSR settings would you guys recommend for downsampling to 1080p from 1440p? Because unless I'm downsampling from 4K I feel like it looks worse than native.
