Will PS4K lead to a new generation of bullshots and downgrades?

Right now when we see a game at E3 or a trailer, we can look at the controller to tell if it is actually running on PS4. And PS exclusives (which are famous for their super graphics) are automatically running on PS4 so we know what to expect when we buy them. Now with the PS4K, I fear that all "PS4 gameplay" (in demos on the show floor, and at E3 presentations and in trailers) will actually be running on PS4K. When asked what hardware a game was shown to be running on, some developers have been known to be evasive while others (like Ubisoft) straight up lie so I am worried about how this E3 will go. I feel like this just adds another trick for them to keep up their sleeves. CGI gameplay, PC gameplay and now PS4K gameplay, which will be the hardest to detect and will affect exclusives.

What do you guys think? Are my fears warranted or will PS exclusives just be like PS4 titles that have a PC version?

Assume everything from now on is being shown on the ps4k or PC.

As someone who refuses to upgrade to a PS4K.... I hate to hear that but you're totally right. I don't feel like a second class citizen though.... but if finding original PS4 footage of games becomes a rarity.....

Whether it's first or third party, If a developer is showing off the "ps4 version" of their game, it'll be running on the ps4k.

This is a big issue Sony needs to address when the PS4 Neo launches. Games WILL look better on the thing thanks to the mandatory Neo Mode, so they have to do something to make PS4 Neo and PS4 footage run side by side.

People are already sour on the idea of the PS4 Neo, so they need to make this announcement as peaceful, clear and concise as they possibly can. If not, there will be a massive backlash that might even rival what Microsoft faced with the X1 unveil.

It's not a bullshot if it's running on actual hardware, whether that be a high end PC or PS4K.

I hope most of the media material we get from now on is PS4K or better.

No it won't because outside of forum dwellers no-one gives 2 shits about bullshots or downgrades.

It's not a downgrade if the ps4 version doesn't look as good as the demoed ps4k version. That said, every game will be shown on ps4k. It will look better and it will push the new hardware.

The sad part is that you are right :l.

The thing with the PS4 is, I'm only getting one for a small handful of games in the future (Ratchet, Sonic, Rumored Crash, Persona 5, FFXV, KH3, FFVII Remake) and those should run fine enough on OG PS4. Perfectly content with getting minimal games this coming generation and going through my large backlog across PS2, PS3, PS Vita, Nintendo Wii and PS4 (PS+ games I've been 'buying').

So if a lot of games start running bad on OG PS4 while PS Neo runs them fine, will not really care, as I got my PS4 for the smallest amount of games I feel I 'have' to play or really want to play.

No, developers and publishers have made it clear they don't need a half step in console generation to release dishonest screenshots.

It's just going to be the way it always has.

Neo mode is mandatory?

Yeah it'll be shown on a PS4K if it doesn't have a PC ver, it'll always be shown on the highest spec platform if they're not using concept art or edited bullshots.

I dont know. Honestly, it is hard to predict WHAT the PS4k will lead to, considering right now we just have lots of pretty solid rumors.

I hope someone screams, "SHOW ME THE ORIGINAL PS4 FOOTAGE GAMEPLAY!!!" during Sony's E3 because all that Sony show will prolly be from PS4K.

It was always PC or PS4 Dev kits. In several occasions Sony have mistakes in their exclusives presentation.
In this trailer of killzone shadow fall there is clearly a mouse cursor at 18 seconds mark in the trailer. Do PS4 have mouse cursor? Nope.

In No mans sky trailer I saw another mouse cursor in the trailer (where it is shown in PlayStation channel). I do NOT have the link at the moment but I clearly remember seeing it.

We don't even have a bunch a downgraded games on current consoles, so why would you expect more with a more powerful console? And bullshots have been around for ages. More powerful hardware isn't gonna lead to anything more than what we get now. Not to mention that games are much closer to bullshots this gen than they were in the past.

You can't tell with the controller at all. You've been duped by those prompts many time too. And you'll be duped again, first and third party, like usual.

There are still PCs that vastly outclass the ps4k, and there are plenty of third and first party devs that aren't afraid to use them.

Of course. This is a given. It's similar to pictures of food, where they make it all amazing looking and when you get the final product, it's nowhere near the perfection of what was advertised. Same deal.

Developers already did this kind of stuff with PC builds of games showing Xbox button prompts etc. I honestly don't think it'll be much of a difference, you can guarantee devs will always show "NEO" mode over the base version.

The best version of a game will always be shown off...this has always been the case. As for downgrades, it's only a downgrade if they are trying to pass something off as something it's not...they can make a gameplay running on the most beastly PC in existence...but that doesn't mean downgrade if the console version doesn't look like that

Those too.

Everything is bullshits or downgraded. Everything. Without exception.

There are like 3 developers in the world that don't use bullshots, and 1 of those still does for its most expensive adventure game series

That was such bullshit. I bet it didn't actually exist as a game tbh.

And it worked wonderfully, which is why it keeps getting done. In fact, that whole PS4 reveal event was full of bullshotting and if you go read the thread, well...
