New Star Wars: Battlefront coming in 2017, has new movie locations

Sadly I'm on the side of the fool me once camp. I was completely disappointed with the direction, lack of content, and depth of the current game. Besides graphics and sound there wasn't much else I liked. I know they sent out a survey and I hope they took it and some of the discussions on what the game needs to heart.

I'm in If it incorporates the significant changes the previous battlefront's contained, and what people have been asking for. Otherwise the most recent Battlefront was about half priced ~2 weeks after launch so the same game (more or less) with different maps is going to be valued even less.

Seriously, how big is DICE?

Battlefront, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Battlefield 1 all within a year. DLC for everything. Now working on Battlefront 2.

Didn't DLC just come out for Battlefield 4?

I will definitely buy it, but I would rather not have the first one be completely dropped since its so much fun. I would rather have a huge expansion like what Destiny did with the Taken King.

I think they have 2 studios and Battlefild DLC was made by a 3rd party. I think.

DICE LA took over BF4 if I'm not mistaken. Maybe they are making this one.

Somewhere around 600 employees IIRC.

They also cannibalize parts of other studios to help ship their games judging by credit lists.

If it has a single player campaign, I am all in, if not, it's more or less a reskin of what I already have and doesn't sound too promising.

Was getting caught part of your plan?
Prequels had good art direction and really cool locales. For a game like Battlefront I'm not sure what the problem would be to have prequel era materials.

Only problem I can see would maybe be the convoluted looking vehicles, but that's kind of a stretch.

Singleplayer SW game is announced 3+ years ago and it won't be out until 2018 and you expect that DICE will do it in 2 years for MP focused title?

Not a surprise. They said as much anyway. 2016 was going to support the base game with DLC, and only from movies 1-6. The next BF was going to focus on the new movies.

Makes sense and expected to release along side Episode VIII.

Naboo starfighter is sleek and classy as fuck.

But I think it's pretty obvious that prequel stuff will likely be left alone. Just saying it wouldn't bother me. Truth be told I'd rather it be all new trilogy stuff (which is already a mix of OT stuff).

Agreed. There's a lot of potential for prequel content especially if they draw from TCW. Aksoka as a hero would be amazing.

Also continued development and support for Frostbite. They are huge.

I wonder how many of those 14M bought thinking they'd get a Star Wars game instead of a generic multiplayer shooter with Star Wars skins on everything.

What

It's the most pure SW experience in a game yet.

From a visual/audio design point of view.

There is no pre defined 'Star Wars game'.

Anybody think we're getting any early peek for any of these new SW projects at E3/EAPlay?

This is another Battlefront hate thread, sigh ...

It's the furthest thing from a bad game. It has had a few patches since launch that fixed some annoying bugs and balance issues, it's a really solid game now. And the free content they have released since has helped it too.

I doubt they would bother with the PT. VII as the focus and OT nostalgia remixes and new content. They can add so much more.

They won't get a sale from me if there's no campaign or bots to play against. I really hope they do include one this time around, but I won't get my hopes up.

Tweak gun and vehicle gameplay (Classes please?). Single-player (or Co-op) Campaign - even a fairly light outing will do. Make split-screen function across all modes.

Bring all of Battlefront:2015's maps forward into this one. I'd love to play on them again, but with good gameplay this time.
