Show us your RETRO Gaming Setup

This setup is a bit old but you get the picture (pardon the pun):
...

I have one of those Sanus audio racks, did you get it on clearance at Best Buy years ago? I still have mine although it's got a laser printer and a couple of other things on it these days rather than the consoles it used to have stacked on it.

I think I posted these somewhere before, I can't remember where.

nice

I have a whole lot of NES stuff, but unfortunately not on display - I should consider that =3

I also need a Sega (or any of its variants) in my collection :(

Jake, that is awesome! Did you use a template or kit to build it? I would love a mini barcade like this, it'd be perfect for my bar beside my retro setup.

...also I hope that fridge is filled with beer by now ;)

I ordered the precut pieces and assembled it myself which was easy. The wiring on the other hand, was a real pain. And the fridge isn't plugged in because we are moving.

man, it came out awesome though! if you don't mind my asking, how much did that set you back?
id wanted a MVS or the like, but a local buddy's been reminding me that with my XRGB setup, i could make use of a good JAMMA/etc harness, i just don't know a good/easy/cheap enclosure that doesn't look like butt, haha...hence my interest in kevtris' FPGA thing, since Neo-Geo/MAME are the biggest holes in the scene for me right now!

Awesome!
Just beautiful!
Is it powered by a Raspberry Pi?

edit: Also what sticks/buttons are you using?

Thanks! Yes, Raspberry Pi2 and http://www.amazon.com/Easyget-Encoder-Joystick-Illuminated-Buttons/dp/B00WAY9848/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460805191&sr=8-1&keywords=led+arcade+push+buttons

About $600, thats with the Marquee and artwork, which was about $150. I'm not really a fan of emulation but how else was I going to play all of these awesome Arcade games? If you have the scratch, it's worth it.

I wasn't sure whether MAME cabinets were acceptable in this thread, but after seeing a recent post with one, I thought I'd include some pics of my own, plus a Virtual Pinball Cabinet

MAME Cabinet
Custom-build by myself, running the HyperSpin Front-end (although another front-end is in these pictures) with approx 25,000 playable ROMs.

I actually built two identical cabinets at the same thinking it wouldn't take that much longer than building one...didn't quite work out that way LOL.

The full album including build pics is at http://imgur.com/a/pE6gF.

Virtual Pinball Table

Custom-built (by me...again!) Star Trek Next Generation virtual pinball table:-
- Full Williams Widebody Pinball shell dimensions
- 42" LED for playfield
- 29" monitor for back glass
- 19" monitor for Dot Matrix Display
- PC with an Nvidia GTX560 GPU hosting 300+ tables for Future Pinball and Visual Pinball
- IPAC Keyboard encoder

The full album including build pics is at http://imgur.com/a/7tPYB.

Just Wii VC and an upscaler for my retro gaming for this year. I plan on picking up some more systems in tokyo at the end of this year and next...fill it out for 2016. VC is plenty fine for now...tons of my favorite games on there.

Which upscaler do you use?

I'm not a huge fan of pinball machines but I want to build this bad.

Though I would share this in here. Since it is mostly retro. I still need to get a toro box for my Dreamcast, and I would like to get a different 3DO so I could do the 240p, and RGB mod on it. Right now it and the Dreamcast go into the Framemeister through S-Video. The GC, PS2, and Xbox go into it through component. The NES is composite for now, waiting on the HiDefNes kits. My N64, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Wii U connect to the receiver through HDMI. All the other systems connect with RGB to the framemeister. I have a lot of work to do with the wires still. I may change it up completely soon, I've had these entertainment center stands for like 10 years now think it might be time for a change.

Looking good Shin. Hopefully you have lots of time for retro gaming, I'm constantly trying to find more time with my setup, haha.

Definitely not as much time as I'd like, but I'm trying to get some more time in. It's a big stress reliever for me, even just working on my setup or fixing a system. So with work right now being stress central I've been trying to get more time for the retro fix.

Great setup!

I feel you. I feel just as content organizing, modifying or repairing my gaming stuff.

I think I spend more time doing that then playing.

Gotta pipe in and agree here. I've spent a lot of time with my setup this past week, and maybe about 40 minutes tops actually playing. I'm going to be tinkering again over the next couple of weeks, adding LED lights to each console's cubby so they're all illuminated.

Were you playing Gain Ground recently? Seems like an odd title to have front and center.

Also, what do you have your SNES games displayed in?

For my SNES titles, I have them on the first shelf of that unit.

As for Gain Ground, I played it a month or so ago, but it was front and center accidentally; I was just moving stuff around on that shelf as I am about to get a second one soon.

Usually my signed Mega Man 1 and Adventure carts are out front :D

Super Mario Bros. Speedrun World Record Holder!
My setup from a couple of months ago, I've since added an AV famicom but otherwise pretty much the same:

You can confirm that the wallpaper matches the wallpaper seen in the Super Mario Bros. record video :)

Am I the only one who thinks that these pics don't seem retro? They feel modern. Maybe because the consoles are so clean and look good?

Maybe it's because what is considered retro in gaming is actually not that old?

i mean, we had an RF defense force, but things got all fuzzy with them

for real, the pic above you has a few NES' that are likely older than most of the people who post on GAF
