Why does Horizon appear twice? Is it going to be THAT good?

So do we think sony will show or mention the Neo at E3, or is it now March 2017 ?

Neo should be out this year in time for the upcoming holiday season, based on Sony's own shipment forecast for the current fiscal year.
It's unlikely they would have forecasted 20 million PS4s without factoring something propelling sales up during the October-December quarter in a significant way.
Neo at E3 in my opinion is really unlikely, it's too early and they would just hurt their own sales.
Also we don't know what their plans are relatively to the current PS4. It's safe to say that it will receive a price drop to 299$ at some point this year but is it going to be fully replaced by Neo going forward (so the price drop woud have the purpose of getting rid of the inventory of the current model) or are they going to keep both models on the market in the long term?

Looks like Sony is pushing on with the belief that "wave of inertia" will sell their console during holidays no matter what 1st party games they release in that period... This has served them well so far in PS4 gen, they released more exclusives outside holiday season to boost sales during "quiet" months/quarters.

Anyways, reasons be damned, I hope the game will be great [and that Sony will market it better than Until Dawn/Ratchet].

I wouldn't call The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo Sport, Gravity Rush 2 + the PSVR launch games in the September-December period first party inertia :D On the contrary. Last year they only had the Uncharted Collection :p
It's a strong lineup even with Horizon slipping to spring 2017, hoping that Polyphony can get their act together with GT Sport.

I'm almost positive that GG said they were "targeting 2016" for Horizon. And in this generation, that almost surely means that it's a 2017 release.

I never expected it to release in 2016. And no one should still be expecting a 2016 release. It's a 2017 release and likely always was going to end up that way.

Why not just keep the PS4 and save the worry?

As much as I'd love to do that, I rather get the value for my original PS4 while it's still above $300 CDN.

What if the 4k is just for Netflix and media playback, it comes bundled with a game you don't want, is $450 and they call it PS4 Slim?

Then that'd be a shame but I'd still rather be safe than sorry.

Based on all the rumors and leaks we've had for the Neo though, I'm not too worried. What we know seems to point towards the system being legitimately more powerful and offering a better visual experience on games that have a Neo mode, such as VR and first-party titles. As someone who mainly plays PC, an improved framerate would be greatly appreciated. (That FFXV Demo felt incredibly slugish, for example.)

Plus, I got to keep the Nathan Drake Collection, so it's not all bad. I only really legitimately lost $34.52 on the entire ordeal so far.

If GT is definitely releasing this year it gives Guerilla some breathing room with Horizon.

I don't mind Horizon coming out in 2017 as it's obviously a big ambitious game, but regardless of that as long as The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 are 2016 releases I'll have plenty to tide me over until Horizon.

Seems pretty quick to announce a date in June for a couple months later though isn't it?

Well it's like 7 years that we are wanting for this game, i don't think that august/september would be too soon XD

And if it's true that the game is still coming out in 2016 (it Must), i don't think it would be a good idea to release it in the crowded holiday period...

Sympathetic? What, you feel sorry for him because of his supervillain name or something?
I think it's a translation problem.

In some languages (such as French), sympathique means likeable/ relatable, whereas in English it's a matter of expressing empathy.

These, as I remember, used to be called "false friends" by my English teachers ;)

English is weird. Even empathy and sympathy are defined as two different things.

The demo doesn't represent the framerate of the full game.

I had a dream about this conference last night. They moved it to television and it was almost nothing but marketing shooters in-between 7 minute commercials.

Good, fucking, lord. That would be an atrocity of a show.

I highly doubt it'll feel too much better when there's even more enemies and things going on on-screen.

I rather go Neo just to be safe, as loading times and framerates should generally be better, even without a proper 'Neo' mode.

nice Avatar.

A new Colony Wars and WipeOut would be my ultimate PS VR instabuy. Actually, it would be instabuy without VR.

Especially WipeOut. Just make me a HD + Fury + 2048 package and be done with it

Wipeout would be insane in VR... still don't understand why they closed them.

Because the output was slow and the games weren't selling? I dunno, there was probably a good reason for shutting down Studio Liverpool. It hurt to see that team laid off, and it hurt even more to see the PS4 launch without a WipEout title, but they must have been underperforming to a large degree.

The death of futuristic racers in general has got me really crestfallen.
