"Agents of Mayhem," Volition's new AAA game reveal trailer

It's one thing to have a CG trailer, but a 4 minute long CG trailer? I turned it off half way in, CG trailers do absolutely nothing for me.

Also shame if there isn't co-op, that was a really fun part of Saints Row

No co op? Kind of disappointing kind of seems like sunset overdrive tbt will wait for gameplay and destruction

Reminds me far more of Battleborn specifically than anything else (tone, humor, art style). Not particularly interested.

For a studio known for writing good comedy, this trailer was pretty bleeeeeeeech.

Well they have a new lead writer (Jason Blair) as Steve Jaros is not with the company any more. Jason apparently helped write Saints Row 4 and the expansions, but that's it with Volition thus far. His previous video game work is script revising for Prey and "story development - full script" for Conduit 2.

Trailer did nothing for me, and I don't think it's because it was CG and not in game footage... Characters were terrible both in the generic design but also in how they were written, the world looked really sterile and flat as well.

Oh well, just a trailer, hopefully the actual game is more impressive.

Well, looks like the kind of game they always wanted to do but needed to hold back because of Saints Row. If they take SR4's direction and make it fully fledged, it could be pretty interesting. I'll wait for a gameplay trailer to judge.

Wow. The negativity here is...galling. I want to be a super-powered individual in a colorful universe. Preferably in an open-world, and preferably single-player (or SP w/co-op). Am I asking too much? Is this game literally ONLY for me?

....Suppose it doesn't matter since it's getting made anyway. XD

The whole 12 hero thing would get my mouth watering if this were like a DC, Marvel, or Overwatch game but if rest of the characters look as bland as the ones they showed off then meh.

Furthermore, all this is right now is a boring 4 minute CG trailer. Of course people aren't excited.

Don't see what's wrong with CG trailers.

Its a nice initial introduction to the world, lore, and characters, while also giving you hints about how it will play and what the themes and story will be like. Its meant to draw your interest to the context of the game you will be playing so that you're more invested when the gameplay drops. Which is probably next week.

Mm, it's the kick off to an entire month of reveals. It's like someone else in the thread said: I only dislike CG trailers when a company's about to go silent for months before I see some actual gameplay. Don't think that's what's going to happen here.

I hope.

At any rate, I liked the girl's design. And there's still nine more characters left to be revealed. (Eight if the boss counts, who also looked cool if not visually impressive as a "super-person".)

Was hard to concentrate on this trailer because the whole time I was thinking "I just want to see some gameplay". I have no idea what kind of game this will be.

Now THIS is fantastic! I mean, I know it's just a CGI trailer and all but Volition games... they are always extremely fun to play and they are always spread a shit tone of positive energy all around you from start to finish. I hope this new game won't be exception. Bring it on! Day fucking one!

It's cool that it's somewhat related to SR. Those games were never lookers anyway so I'm not that bothered about the graphics, it pretty much looks like a cleaned up version of the cartoon style they debuted with 3.

The very weak lazer sound effects stood out to me. Otherwise, could be cool?
Same - I hope those sad little chirps are not the final sound effects.

I really like the hand-animated-looking effects; would love to see that in-game. Those were the only things I liked about Battleborn's look.

My main problem and every it's evident in every Saints Row game from 2 onwards is Volition don't know how to make interesting cities to explore.

Also CG trailer is lame. I want to see if the characters move that fluidly in game...

After looking at the screenshots I'm starting to get excited and I'll give Volition the benefit of doubt. The city already looks 4x better than Steelport which was my biggest issue with Saints 3-4 (how you gonna have a terrible open-world in an open-world game?). And since it is a new IP I can play the game without getting mad about all the features they still haven't brought back from Saints Row 2. Just know when the next Saints game is announced I'm gonna be thread-shitting if it has superpowers in it.

Anybody notice "Ultor" is in the trailer? Also, the logo is very similar to the Saint's Fleur-de-lis. Saints Row shared universe?

This is a brilliant move really, evolving the Saints Row universe into basically a new one gives them the best basis to work with. Hopefully they can take the best aspects of SR and create something new and original as well.

Also to all the people complaining about the CG trailer being a CG trailer, shut up, no one cares. We get it, you think you're immune to advertising and hype. So what.

I really hope a proper in game trailer is more impressive, because right now I'm just disappointed this isn't more Saints Row instead.

I think for most of us, it's because we want to know what the gameplay actually is.
