Oh fuck yes inject it into my veins. I just hope there are less stun lock abilities in the character roster, that was the worst thing about the original.

This loot gambling shit that has invaded AAA titles has got to go. How is it even legal?....its fucking gambling.

SFxT showed that nobody wanted gems why is Boon bringing them back

Because they aren't? Theres no microtransactions mentioned yet. Also we dont know what modes use them considering we know there are several modes including an RPG.

We dont know enough yet to go crazy.

Some gems being purchasable weren't even the real issues with gems. They sound effectively the same from what we know so far, regardless of any possible microtransaction elements.

I don't doubt they'll let competitive players play parts of the game without gear and I imagine the main balancing will be done around the vanilla game. But it's pretty obvious they'll model the gear system after Injustice Mobile since that game made more money than the console version.

Ed posted a poll asking fans if they'd want Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing, or Captain Cold.

Do the right thing and vote Blue Beetle (Jamie). Sorry if it's already been posted.

Damn that's a hard choice without seeing the rest of the roster.

I think out of those three, Blue Beetle would have the most interesting moveset and armor upgrades.

Swamp Thing is my favorite though.

edit: Jaime of course, if it's Ted, fuck that. I like Ted but I don't need Batman 2.0.

Swamp Thing seems like he would have some really cool potential and interesting combat.
None of the three really interest me too much though. I would vote for Blue Beetle if it was Ted Kord though. I would rather get Booster Gold over all of those three.

I'm happy to see Supergirl made the cut this time around. Hopefully, she'll have a Power Girl skin.

RE: Ed Boon's poll; I don't care for Captain Cold, but it was a hard choice between Blue Beetle and Swamp Thing. Jaime Reyes won my vote though.

You do realize that this is Warner Bros we're talking about, yes?

They are fully emulating the COD loot crate model and microtransactions will be part and parcel of Injustice 2. Bank on it.

Though. One thing regarding Street Fighter x Tekken is that it was based on Street Fighter IV and targeted to that crowd, and as can also be seen by SFV; the community is more around tournaments, competition and balance. So anything that throws that balance out of the window is received with backlash.

Injustice 2 comes from not only a sucessful first entry, but also from a sucessful mobile game that had consumables all over it.

It also comes from a developer that for years found success in catering local and random fun matches, while adding chess, puzzle, cart racing modes to their fighting games. Even optional adventure modes. To even completely unbalanced games like Armageddon and sillyness in Test your Luck modes in recent MK games that throw random variants to matches.

So, even if it works the same as the gems in SFxT, the community of Injustice could be more receptive to it. I for example, had fun with the gems in SFxT and continue to play it on Vita. And impressions online about this seems many are excited at the prospect of customizing Batman and beat their friends with him.

As always, only time will tell. If things don't go well, is not the first time the developer changes mechanics and reboots a franchise.

Its amazing how many people in this thread seem to know so much about how this game plays and how it utilizes gear already. So many things stated as facts.

Seriously though...we dont know anything good or bad so lets just all chill and wait till we hear specifics and see gameplay before we judge this one way or another. We have zero idea what kind of checks and balances are in place for the main FGC oriented modes that folks are concerned about to keep gear useage a level playing field for the competitive scene which we know they support avidly. We have no idea what gear actually does per character. Plus its not like we haven't seen games that had a tourney level competitive balance based upon customization. Look at Arcana Heart for crissakes. You can equip entire movesets, and new mechanics alongside of stat changes and its still a pretty competitive tournament worthy game (regardless of whether you like anime is irrelevant BTW. It does have a tourney scene and a meta strong enough to warrant that).

We know nothing yet on this system and what it entails or effects so lets all stop saying stupid shit like Injustice 2 is dead competitively already and just wait to see more. This thread has so much outrage culture overreacting at its worst that its silly. Wait till we know something before you folks act like you know everything at least.

Crashing this plane... with no survivors!
I wonder what kind of armor Swamp Thing would get.

As long as there's a separate mode where the loot has no effect on gameplay I have no issues with RPG elements in fighters. My only issue is gambling based microtransactions.

This is profoundly stupid sounding. Why would Superman spend his entire day collecting armor? Aside from Batman, and maybe a few other characters, this sound dumb as hell. I hope this at least reaches rental-tier, but it looks like a fucking abomination right now.

Especially when they mention customizing for more speed. Why would The Flash need more speed?

Give me Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle and I'll buy this Day 0. He would fit in perfectly with the whole armor situation they are pitching.

Yeah, it sounds kinda wonky. I need to see this system in detail before passing full judgement on it, but not really liking the sound of it.

This idea has 95% chance of being a pay 2 win mess and a 5% chance of being a meaningful and enjoyable experience.

And this post is uninformed.

They've not mentioned anything about microtransactions and the thread title insinuating it is really causing a shitstorm thats unwarranted at the moment. NRS does a pretty good job of listening to its FGC crowd on stuff in terms of balance and what doesn't work and since they haven't said ANYTHING about modes, how this effects them or what modes its in or how gear even works its...

Fuck its a broken record in here. I keep pointing this out over and over. Folks are front page reading, outrage culture rage dumping without any real facts to base things on and leaving aren't they?

Sigh...threads a cess pool. I quit trying to point out the same thing every page.

We got a CG trailer and generalized info that gear is involved in the game. No clue what areas. No clue if we got a for glory mode without em. No nothing. We know NOTHING so stop acting like you know everything people. We have no idea whats good or bad about this yet because we know nothing about how it actually is used.

So assuming we see an equal split between heroes and villains again this time around, how do you think the roster is going to change? The article says this is going to feature the biggest roster of DC characters in a fighting game. That suggests we'll at least see as many characters as the Ultimate Edition. The count for the UE stands at 29.

So far, we have seven confirmed characters.

Confirmed Heroes:
Aquaman
Batman
Supergirl
Superman
The Flash

Confirmed Villains:
Atrocitus
Gorilla Grodd

Who do you think is going to be introduced in the sequel and who won't return?

Green Lantern and Wonder Woman are safe bets. Hopefully Green Lantern has skins for each of the Earth Lanterns; Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner. Then everyone can play as their favourite.

Who do you think is going to be cut from the roster?

As much as I don't want it to happen, Grundy is probably not coming back. He was the only one I enjoyed in the original along with Deathstroke.

I feel like most will return, but I wouldn't be suprised to see Captain Cold replace Killer Frost.

Blue Beetle is one of my most wanted, so that's great to see he's likely. Dr. Fate and The Question would both be amazing, though I'm not expecting either.
