Dead Rising 4 Announced (XB1/PC, Holiday 2016) Gameplay Trailer

Sounds like what SE was saying when RotTR was announced. No mention of Steam or PS4...

I wish someone would ask them about it directly in an interview. "Will this game always be exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10?" See if they dodge the question or put a spin on it, or just clear all doubt.

Frank West and coming to PS4. My favorite thing from their conference

Is it coming to PS4?

edit....

Microsoft is publishing Dead Rising 4 "in partnership with Capcom", Xbox marketing exec Aaron Greenberg has confirmed.

That's what we thought initially, due to the lack of the exclusive tag before or after the trailer like all the other exclusive games shown, but post show info has made it unclear. It might be exclusive after all, or it might be a Rise of the Tom Braider type deal where they don't say exclusive but avoid talking about the game ever coming to other platforms until months after release (or whenever it was). So a timed exclusive.

Hard to say at this point. Maybe it'll be on Steam too and that's the reason they didn't use the exclusive term.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was also published by Microsoft on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

That exclusive tag on the box might be damning evidence though. Hard to compare with TR because that game came out on 360 as well, and I don't know how long that tag has been around.

Still, hoping for a PS4 version is setting oneself up for disappointment.

Gonna love this, not detail release date yet right?

December, I think. It says "holiday" 2016, plus the Christmas theme...

It's a shame. Time management is one of the things that made DR so special.

Honestly, I'd argue the timing is the main thing about the game. Without the timing, it's just a (admittedly very fun) Dynasty Warriors game with no difficulty, skill, or intelligence.

Edit: Hopefully they put the original on back compat soon, that way I can get my fix.

This looks reeeaaally a lot like DR3....
What's with no timed missions? Isn't in the video above a bar ticking down?

For those who haven't seen it yet; here's 3 minutes of gameplay. https://youtu.be/zFGKLiGAYZw

The exo suit looks like a lot of fun but also pretty OP. Hopefully the game isn't ridiculously easy like Dead Rising 3.
It will be. 4 already looks every bit as devoid of challenge based on the released footage.

How was Dead Rising 3 in Nightmare mode or whatever it was called?
Very definition of a tacked-on feature in an attempt to quell (the at the time of reveal) negative fan feedback. Time management is unbalanced since all they did was arbitrarily speed up the timer at a set pace rather than carefully craft a specific rhythm, and you still become a walking death machine in no time at all. I also appreciated restrooms et al not being highlighted on the map even though manual saving was the whole point about Nightmare Mode.

Man, I really don't like the art style of this and 3, but I do want to see the mall again. So I'm still interested.

I don't mind the time loss thing, but I miss the cheery mall music and bright, very 'brochure' color pallette of the first two games.

Why are they trying to mess with Frank's voice actor again?

Yeah I thought he sounded different, but passed it off as maybe being a different inflection or something.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, the game becomes really shallow when you're just following a waypoint and making overpowered weapons. Even the bosses look like they provide little difficulty.

That interview I linked earlier talks about the inspiration for DR4 being DR1. Aside from the fan pandering/nostalgia factor of Frank and Willamette, doesn't look like they're bringing anything from DR1. Anyone who played the original would tell you that the timer was the most unique feature of the game.

The developers themselves confirmed no timed missions, I've seen a few videos and my guess is that the timer is just a demo timer, because it cuts to a trailer as soon as it ends.

Well my hype died down now :(

Lip service, given how poorly things went after they proudly proclaimed they wanted to appeal the Call of Duty crowd last time around.

Man, that was a great trailer. Definitely fitting if it were to come out close to Christmas, love the holiday theme!

Never finished DR3 but I enjoyed what I played of it, will probably grab this eventually.

The Call of Duty crowd comment is just so dumb sorry. It's a way to tear the "gamers you don't like" with the same brush. That said this looks disappointing and like a DR3 reskin, which I never finished because it was so boring after 20 hours and the map was reallly restrictive and shitty.

What the hell are you talking about?

The developers themselves used the term "we designed this to get the call of duty crowd interested"

No timed missions? What's the point then?

Most of the fun of DR games is time management and the added stress of being able to complete, or not complete, an objective on time.

I hope this is something they reconsider.

WTF, no timer? =/ I wonder how they'll work around that and make the game have a sense of urgency. Something!

Lol have you played dr3?

The series is dynasty warriors with zombies now, and at least they're being honest with themselves about it now so I don't have to listen to morons on this site tell me to play nightmare mode.

So basically this is Dead Rising in name only. It really sucks that they couldn't even be bothered to bring back Franks original voice actor.

I love the smile he made, looks very lively. Don't really interested in the game tho but it was a nice gameplay trailer.

So is the footage Xbox One or PC? Looks quite clean and crisp and smooth compared to 3. Hoping it's Xbox One.

But am i wrong or didn't they say "xbox one and win10 exclusive" at the show?

Oh nevermind, i now see the box art saying Xbox One exclusive. Did Rise of the TR ever have that?

Yay another zombie themed Assassin's Creed game. Fuck off Capcom.
