Morrigan Stark
Arrogant Smirk
But surely this can't be true! I'm told women are not more valued for their appearances than men, and that they're about the same.
No, she's Egyptian.
Symmetra is Indian.
Girls gotta be 35 or under or I ain't playin'.
I think part of it is that it's a clean art style. For a male example, it's pretty obvious in Uncharted 4 vs 3 that Drake is slightly older, but it's in the details, I'm hard-pressed to put my finger on exactly what gives it away, from memory. A couple of tiny extra lines around the eyes maybe? If I look at a pic of myself from a decade ago (I'm 37 now), the differences are there, slightly less hair, an extra wrinkle on the forehead when I frown.
On a cartoony art style, it's a bit harder to use the same subtle cues, and you can't use the receding hairline as easily on a late-30s woman as you can on a bloke. So I think they fell back on the cartoon classics of defining youth through bigger, clearer eyes and smiling more. Mercy seem to squint more and looks more stern, which are the fairly subtle cues as to having her look older than Tracer.
Either-way, neither are black women.
There are black Egyptians, there are non-black Egyptians.
It would depend on many factors.
If she is of Berber descent (originating from people who invaded the Iberian peninsula) or a native African
Also, given that race is a social construct, it would also depend on what she saw herself as and identified with.
It was also depend on what people of her ethnicity saw themselves as and identified with.
Its not that easy as an answer.
I promise if she had an afro, more people would assume that she was black.
All females.
Why don't you say specifically what you want instead of half-assing it?
Do you want her to be old and ugly? Old and wrinkly? Old and average?
Ugly works when it's stylized - like Roadhog.

I want to say age should not matter especially being that for the most part they all seem close in age but at the same time I sort of wish they had at-least included one black woman in the game. I give Overwatch a ton of credit for the diversity but once again like many others they forget black women.
Never even thought about this, but I'm sure it's the case. Anyone who plays League here who can confirm? When I stopped playing, the roster was pretty much exclusively younger women, as far as I can recall.
tfw no domineering cougars
I mean, Mercy sort of works, only because I know deep down she's either straight sadistic or is a heartbeat away from losing it because everyone around her dies and her best efforts aren't good enough.
Sombra is totally Ana Amari, though.
Jim sterling mentioned this in one of his Jimquisitions once.
We have old grizzled heroes like Marcus Fenix or Solid Snake. But I can't think of a single old grizzled women hero in a game.
Criticism is a natural part of the feedback loop in games. Nobody is forcing the devs to do anything. I don't even see people suggesting they should edit current characters after the fact -- I see people suggesting the characters should have been different from the start. The game's story goes out of its way to make the female characters young when they're clearly fine with older male characters and it's completely valid to criticize that. Same thing goes for non-human characters being exclusively male for some reason.
"Old!" She was in her early 40s!I think an old female character like the Boss would have fit perfectly in the game. She could maybe have replaced soldier 76.
After hearing all of this stuff about the game made me really glad that I didn't buy it.
I think this is a good point made, I feel bad for not noticing prior.

Give me older women to play idgaf.
Can't Reinhardt only fight because he is in the huge suit of armor though? Soldier 76 idk.
Are people counting that Tauren one as an example of "babe-ification"? i mean, she looks cuter than the male one, but still looks positively beastial and very cow like, and the male one might have a bulkier frame, but she's still huge, burly and not a human like barbie doll, if anything that's good design, alpha one literally looked like a male with boobs slapped on them.
The troll one tho, yeah that's bullshit, female alpha troll looks way more interesting.
They're both good design.
What exactly makes the female troll bullshit?
Humanoid race design 101
That's not relevant to what i'm saying at all though....
What I've learned from browsing outrage threads on NeoGAF is that developers can do a hundred things right but the focus will always be on what they didn't do right, always something negative.
If Blizzard didn't include female characters there would have been an outrage. They included a variety of female characters so now there's outrage about no old characters or the weird excuses for not having them.
If there were old female characters then there would have been outrage for depicting female characters as old, frail, weak, or unattractive.
To be fair, that's a picture of a Human-Orc Hybrid, the female pure orcs look more monstrous.

Of course they aren't being literally forced to do anything, but even saying "well these characters should have been designed differently by Blizzard from the start" is certainly calling for such.

It can be done.
That character is half human

Yeah, but it's ABSURD that 50% orc monstrocity only translates to green skin, tiny fangs.
