Twitch going out of its way to promote "boob streamers" ??

Seriously, Twitch is stuck in a bad situation where they do not want to discourage women from streaming in any way, but the streamers are aware of how easy it is to grab attention from the younger twitch crowd with how they frame their shots.

There was a shaming thread a few weeks ago that was pretty ill advised. This is an equally poor decision. I'd prefer not to shame anyone who partakes in my hobby.

But this is less shaming the streamers, and more shaming Twitch for essentially capitalizing on it.

I don't think he's asking for the streamers to go away or stop doing what they're doing, but that Twitch shouldn't be actively trying to capitalize on it.

If I don't watch any content involving any of these streamers, and all of a sudden Twitch starts recommending nothing but them to it, and it all happens to be the same kind of high cam body shot female streamers, that seems opportunistic and sort of sick on Twitch's part.

Twitch is all sorts of messed up. These women are the same women who get emotes of their O faces with the text being their name and "gasm" at the end and they get it approved no problem, yet others get denied for way less explicit stuff, like a pair of legs that aren't even sexual, or a cat in a litter box or some shit. It's effin backwards and I do believe they do it on purpose.
There are many many emotes, from men and women, that are derivatives of

I don't understand this. Why use sex to sell something totally unrelated? What does gaming on Twitch have to do with any of this? Same with Youtube personalities who do this, like that girl who "taught people Japanese" while she gave strategic shots of her cleavage wearing cat ears. WTF? There's porn sites for that. Get that shit outta here. It's a thinly veiled attempt at getting more views in the most base and primal manner possible and shouldn't even be allowed.

Because it works.

Even Youtube, which uses a similar recommendation system has a feature on there that lets you remove recommendations and tell Youtube why you aren't interested in that specific recommendation. Twitch needs this desperately.
If only that worked.
You watch one video about Game of Thrones, and now my front page is full of dudes talking about which medieval sword is the best one.
You watch one slow-mo watermelon being shot, and now your feed is full of guns reviews and shit.

Not to mention the inevitable recommendations of big channels from my country, which are all garbage.

Honestly i just wish YouTube would stop "recommending" me videos in the first place.
Not a big deal, since i bookmarked the subscriptions page.

You seem to have answered your own question.

starting to look like maybe OP isn't telling the whole truth about their viewing history

it's okay, OP, you can come clean

this is a safe place

tell us about your favorite "boob streamers"

I see no "booby streamers" in my viewing history.

What have you been browsing on Twitch, OP?

None of those images are my personal browsing history. Mine looks like this:

fXTJG46.png

Seems like mine is more a mix of recommendations based on my actual history and some "boob streamers" too (note, the girl on the left is the same that appears in a lot of these other lists, even tho it appears she streams Hearthstone and I don't follow or watch Hearthstone streams)

edit: this was my (partial) list from last night before I reported some of these streams in an attempt to block them from showing up on this list:

I don't even know what games most of those girls stream, much less have ever watched them.

After you remove a recommendation on youtube there's another dialog option to "tell us why" and you can usually say that you don't want recommendations based on [specific video title] and it will usually be that one Game of Thrones video you watched, so you can specify that way.

Sex sells.

That is like a universal truth of marketing.

Also thank you for reminding me about Minxy, I feel like I had only just finally removed all memories of her from my head. It's been years since I've seen any of those videos.

Also

Where is this page? I can't see anything like this under 'following'.

This.

I don't see anything under following. Is it because I'm not actually "following" anyone that it can't generate any sort of results for me?

I asked because I don't follow any Overwatch streams; but I did check out one for a couple minutes the other day, resulting in them suggesting a couple of them to me.

The rest of what's in there is from channels I actually follow.

I don't principly have any problems with cleavage or women choosing to dress sexy, but I avoid those streams. It's not because I disapprove of their dress, but I can't tolerate the culture of those channels. The people and chat. Gross.

I have two girl streamers in my follows and both are adorable and funny and wonderful, they don't displY cleavage or dress overly sexy that I've ever seen, and the chats in their channels are almost entirely friendly and respectful.

I can't agree that the "Based on your Viewing History" statement is accurate:

I've never watched a single overwatch, WoW or Division stream in my life, nor have I watched "Q&A streams" (funny, they used to ban people for EITHER not having a game or showing cleavage). 99% of my viewing history is speedrunners and FGC events. There's only one actually related video in there.

I watch a couple women streamers but they play games they don't do...whatever is going on in those thumbnails. Twitch isn't exactly balanced gender-wise and I don't think crap like that is helping

I love boobs, but watching some stranger on the internet playing a game while revealing some exposed cleavage doesn't make the act of watching some stranger on the internet playing a game any less boring. I'm amazed it works and manages to pull in those extra views quite frankly, but hey, there are a lot of things I don't understand about this world. Like why somebody would spend their time watching some stranger on the internet playing a game for instance.

I also had her in my recommendations, so I checked it out to see how it was related. Like not even a minute in she swapped it over to gaming talk show because she's in full screen. So if anything you've watched is a talk show, that might be where its from too.

WTF?

I was going to say that while this new feature is crap i never get boob streamers, now i go to the page and the same exact videos as the pic you posted are showed... i think Twitch has a problem because i've never seen such streams.

They need to get this "Based on viewing history" crap out and put back what was before...

I watch exactly the same content as you and i've got the same crap... Twitch needs to fix this.

Looking through the screenshots it's pretty suspicious we ALL Have "it's lit fam" in there

I actually don't, I pretty much only follow channels that have a very very high gameplay:camera ratio and don't do too much "WOOOOOOO THANKS FOR RESUBBING ALARM" stuff going on. Hence speedrunners and FGC only.

My stance completely. I follow a number of female streamers and none of them pander to teens to try and drive up sub numbers or donations and their chats are infinitely more respectful and enjoyable.

Pretty girls popular on a website with mainly teen boys? I am shocked!

But these girls aren't even the most popular streamers in their respective games... That's the thing I don't get. The recommendation system is going out of its way to promote VODs with cleavage in the thumbnail over more popular streamers...

I don't have that tab at all, guess BTTV removed it. But it would be full with boob streamers anyway because I already watch them LUL

Well I mean it's pretty simple.

People who watch LoL streams will get recommendations for LoL streamers with a huge audience.

Huge audience = your so called boob streamers

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
It's only cleavage, does that bother people?

Do they actually take their boobs out of their tops and play games with boobs out? If not, who cares?

I think they banned shirtless guys.

Bring back shirtless Wagamama!

RIP in pepperoni :(

This is not surprising at all, sex sells. They should stop trying to regulate it and embrace it for men and women, requiring a are you 18? page for mature streams and a credit card.
Nothing wrong with combining sex and Vidya games.

Some people are two ashamed or young and unable to sneak off to pornhub. Others just have a gamer girl fetish.

I don't watch League streams but just from looking at its page on Twitch it's not hard to see that the most popular streamers are pro and ex-pro players, not the cleavage girls that are being promoted.

This is what I got:

Funny thing is that I play Overwatch but don't actually watch Overwatch streams at all. Don't play WoW or Hearthstone either. Only recent stuff I watched was some fighting game tournament streams.

Shit's lit tho.
