Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

How do you think the pokemon distribution algorithm works?

I've been hearing about Ghost Pokemon actually being at cemeteries, so maybe the system tracks certain words and tries to put some pokemon there based on that?

I also just read someone on reddit saying they live in a place related to "moon" and he finds a lot of Clefairies and Clefables.

I live in a place with Sunny in the name, and I find a lot of fire types like Vulpix, Growlithe, Magmar and Ponyta (along with others).

I assume it would at least distribute water pokemon near water, and maybe weather conditions as well.

Am I the only one thinking that sounds a little disrespectful?

Walked all around with the neighbors tonight. Got lots of good stuff and dominated the local gym. A yellow member was there and took down the red gym and we were right by and took the gym before he could. He did the work and we got the gym. :p
Ran into two groups total, so the game has to be doing well!

I live in Henderson Kentucky (Small town maybe 25,000)

There are tons of historical landmarks in the downtown main-street that are Pokestops. I seriously counted no fewer than ten people walking around playing. I couldn't believe it.

Pokemon Go has taken over my life! GO Team Blue! This game is definitely set to take over the entire world! It won't be long before we see it in the news.

I have a few questions though:

1. When I challenged a gym leader I beat him and then had to fight round 2 as well - why was there a second round? In the end I just couldn't do a second round.

2. Are there any disadvantages of teaming up with a team leader rather than actually being the leader of that gym

3. If I'm a member of a gym (on the team), is it possible at all in future to become the leader of that gym?

1.
Second round was probably due to there being a second trainer defending the gym

2- None im aware of

3.
I dont think so, unless the gym is taken over and you re take it over

The 1 HP bug is from clicking too fast. Wait for the attack animation to finish before attacking again.

I live in Virginia Beach and I just got back from the boardwalk and there were huge, roaming bands of Pokemon GO players down there at midnight. A bunch of Pokestops had lures on them which was awesome and there were rumors that some players were catching wild Gyrados' down at the water's edge. Going to walk down there as soon as I get out of work tomorrow.

Dude, some absent minded idiot could be running along trying to find a Rare Ghost type (implying that the ghost is actually one of the people buried below) and trip ass over head over an old tombstone.

I actually did go to a graveyard looking for a Ghost type.

Instead I found a Snorlax. A weak-ass 20CP Snorlax.

That's the same person who's going to walk head on into traffic.

It's unavoidable. I don't see how ghost Pokémon in a cemetery is disrespectful.

I'm in Vegas and have been finding plenty of rock and ground Pokemon. Anything desert related. Haven't seen Porygon tho.

Nope the second round was definitely the same guy with the same Pokemon.

One more question:

- Is it better to power up then evolve, or vice versa?

Halfway through Friday here in Japan and no sign nor word of the app. People online are raging, wondering why the hell an app for a Japanese game is releasing everywhere (eh...) except Japan first.

Oh well! :p

Huh, the Gym Prestige system and assisting friendly gyms is actually pretty cool. There's more to it than I thought. All the ones near me were already blue, we're turning this mall into a real stronghold now. It's kind of cool, if I see any of these taken down I'll know exactly what went into them.

I just took a walk around my neighborhood and I swear to god I saw two groups of people that suspiciously looked like they were doing the same thing.

This is insane lol

Why the hell are the rules for account deletion so insanely strict?

You have to submit a ticket and they delete the account and blacklist the username and the email used to make it. That's so, so dumb.

You can't change your username unless it's because it is your real name.

If you're gonna do that can you at least give us the option to change between male/female avatars? Jesus christ. :/

I also hate myself for going with a pokemon club account. With google accounts I don't have to manually enter my username/password every single freaking time I want to play the game, AND the google accounts actually, you know, work.

On the campus of my state school, I counted fifteen largish groups and about fifty individual people roaming around while playing this game. I've never seen anything like it.

Friend tipped me off that someone had taken the City Hall gym but he couldn't beat it because of the 1 HP glitch. Went myself to try and the guy that owns the gym drove up.

Apparently if the owner is nearby he can see something that indicates his gym is under attack?

Luckily he was a pretty cool guy. I'll let him have it for tonight.

He was Team Instinct

So I just started playing this, tried to use some incense.. "Discard Incense?" >Yes
I'm an idiot.

Somehow touched the trash can button by accident.

Anyways, got a Squirtle and a Pidgey so far without having to go anywhere. Too dark to go outside for a walk now so I guess I'll continue tomorrow.

Oh also, I just went out for I guess what ended up being an hour and a half on foot, brought a spare battery with me in my pocket. :D In addition to scoping out the gyms I stocked up on a bunch of pokeballs (I was down to 6), got a Paras, Eevee, Exeggcute, and a Pidgeotto.

Only downside is that it's so fucking humid out there.

If you're within viewing distance on the map you can see a scuffle going on, yeah.
