STEAM | July 2016 - Post Sale Hauls, Post Sale Blues

Ghostbusers look like a 15€ game done with a 10€ game's budget with Activision charging 3X the price they should.

I thought the same. Looking at it and reading the description it doesn't seem like it'll have anywhere near enough content or depth to justify the price.

So Evolve f2p turned out to be very successful.

100 people playing it 2 days before going f2p.

50,000 people playing it 2 days after going f2p.

Not sure if anyone cares, but Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge launches on PC on July 26:

Nighthawk Interactive has announced that it will launch Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge, from developer Renegade Kid, digitally for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC via Steam on July 26. The PlayStation versions will support cross-buy.

The sequel to the 2012 original Mutant Mudds will feature over 40 new levels and five boss battles, as well as five colorful new pixel-art world themes and bonus chiptune music.

Well, a lot of people were curious about it, after all it's a fps done by Left4Dead devs.
You need to see, actually, if the game will maintain a userbase after the initial curiosity.

i mean

those 100 people may mean more money than the 50k if the way they built their microtransactions isn't too good

but yeah, it's interesting if the game had an audience but completely missed the mark with the way it sold itself, makes you wonder how things would've gone if they went f2p from the start

Would like to have more Mutant Mudds. Played the first one on 3DS and Steam.

Necropolis is a top seller and it definitely looks interesting. Will wait for a Winter Sale on that though.

I played it for about an hour and got very bored with it. Its just mindless running around chasing down a monster and shooting it. Rinse n repeat. The monster side of things was also kinda lame.

The movement, shooting and controls are pretty good tho. Its a shame they didn't create a full singleplayer experience with it. Would have been nice to have some more of that syfy narrative and different enemies etc. Missed opportunity imo.

If the bug was on NVIDIA driver side, wouldn't it be better, to, you know, contact NVIDIA for help?
(I am aware the blogpost mentions doing so through Sierra. What I don't understand is why the dev didn't do so on his own?)

Believe me, we tried this many times. All we got was stonewall silence.

Necropolis looks great, I think I will be waiting too due to backlog.

Deus Ex finished!

Now on to Morrowind.

Both Deus Ex and Morrowind have some truly transformative mods. I still have yet to play the original Deus Ex and I want to do a replay of Morrowind, I am jealous.

u should fix that, deus ex is super good

and it actually aged kind of well, the clunkiness and funny vo/gfx were there from the beginning but the level design and the atmosphere and just the general awesomeness of it is kind of unaging

Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4 is great thus far, really like the new setting. But damn, wanted to start adding mods but one can't have achievements with mods. While there seem to be some fix for that but don't know if I want the risk of it backfiring when new patches come.

I just learned that the designs and lots of influences of FURI are coming from the dude who made Afro Samurai. Now that explains a few things.

https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/UTjbz/steam-revoked-game

It seems Steam is revoking some games, and some are very old (like 2015).

Please tell me Steam sends an email when they revoke something. Otherwise, ill never know if they revoke anything from my library.

A message appears as soon as you boot Steam if a game is revoked, you need to check a box to close it, impossible to miss. I only got one game revoked, Dragonsphere from that Bemine mistake in which they added high tier games to low tier bundles.

ABZU hit the steam store, available 2 Aug

From the artistic mind behind Journey®, ABZÛ is a beautiful underwater adventure that evokes the dream of diving. Immerse yourself in a vibrant hidden world bursting with color and life as you descend into the heart of the ocean. But beware as you swim deeper as dangers lurk in the depths.

Yeah definitely. Out of all the older games I (re)played recently I feel like Deus Ex is the one that's aged best. Also the VA is too good.

You get popup like this:

Used to be scary red. Now slightly less scary yellow.

Steam put a big red button at the top of the Steam page when they revoked Drunk Wizards. It specifically states what game. Not sure about the client.

It's yellow too, since recently. Appears both on website and client.

Song of the Deep is out, or was, maybe, jumped from preorder to buy back to preorder. EU release got delayed, not sure about US PC. VPN? PS4 version doesn't even hold 30fps while PC has Unity's old X1 gamepad problems.

How has this not been addressed by Unity yet?

I hope the W10 Anniversary Update will have a re-fix (was fixed, then unfixed because the fix caused other problems).

How has this not been addressed by Unity yet? Devs are having to put specific patches in place to make the X1 controller work - it's how Absolute Drift got fixed.

Thankfully I got a Steam Controller last week so it won't impact me too much.

I would think that would be supported at the hardware level for the link.

No, it's even in the dev FAQ on the steam board for the game:

Q:I do not get input when using Steam Link with a wired USB controller (XBox 360 controller, Dual Shock 4 controller, etc).
A: We currently only support using a Steam Controller on the Steam Link streaming box. We are looking into this and will hopefully find a workaround to support other controllers.

I've tried other games with my 360 pad that work fine. Inside doesn't. Steam Link recognizes the controller (you can use the guide button), but the game doesn't.

Weird. I was able to use my DS4 on the Link with no prob. Same with my PC.

Are you talking about Inside specifically? That's weird then

Played Evolve over the weekend.

It's totally an F2P game: rotating hunter/monster pool, daily log-in bonus, challenges, currency (silver keys) you earn from playing. Currency is used to unlock characters, weapons, perks, skins, etc.

Rounds are short so it's a good pick up and play game. Probably won't play with strangers but will rope my friends into it.

The first Mutant Mudds is very straightforward as far as 2D platformers goes but I had a blast with it, it's just a joy to play, I'll definitely be supporting the developers by buying the sequel. Just hope that this time they won't gate the ending behind collectibles.

On a different note, will anyone here be buying Song of the Deep? Insomniac is one of my fav developers but the reviews got me shaky.

I always have it in the back of my head, just have never gotten around to it. Probably play it sometime after Mankind Divided.

- Played and finished dlc quest: it's basically one joke drawn out over an hour or however long it takes you to beat it. Wouldn't really recommend it.

- Broken Age: it's like the old LucasArts adventures... without any of the charm. I like the artstyle and I'll most likely finish the game, but I'm not really into it. Maybe it'll get better as I progress. Finished Vella's first campaign, now doing Shay's. Vella's voice actor is pretty bad at some places though, it's painful

Shay's side is way better.

Used my Birthday 27% off voucher from GMG and got DOOM...voucher was supposed to be expired already but still worked so I'm not complaining

Went back and checked my emails for my voucher but it isn't working. The voucher webpage is all messed up and isn't rendered properly on any browser and my code format is weird, it looks like this: #00000X-GLAXHX-IEW1I1 (where X are other characters).
