Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

The Cryptarch's Bane
While I agree to a degree I'm thinking of Sawgrass for multiple reasons. I think for a first event would be easiest at a public place where lots of people already walk around so no need to get local law enforcement involved. If we start it early there are lots of different places to eat for lunch or dinner, and with the way the heat is there is plenty of ways to get out of the direct sun. This also doesn't have to be a one and done thing if people enjoy it.

Think I'll ask a mod if it would be alright to make a thread asking about interest.
Well, hell, I'm down for sawgrass, you're basically making it as easy on me as absolutely possible. XD I can even bring some snacks and stuff to give out since I won't need to use any gas. And I can guide us to the hot spots.
I'm enjoying the hell out of this game but it is currently barebones

some ideas of how to add some depth

- allow to see nearby Pokemon Go users on the map
- be able to trade with someone in front of you
- be able to battle with someone in front of you
- interact with your Pokémon (take AR photos anytime)
- be able to leave clues/notes like Dark Souls (these last 2 days so its not overkill)
- be able to add friends and see how many Pokemon they have, gyms captured etc
- events, a rare Pokemon like Zapdos appears only in certain locations for specific date (make it atleast no more than 20 mins drive away for everyone)

Majority of the above will make the game even more social
These are great, the GPS tracking for everyone would be kind of a nightmare for privacy and potential crime though. Everything else sounds perfect, I especially like trading being a thing that you still have to be physically with someone for- could make visiting someone into a bonus for the game. Pokemon Couchsurfing begins lol. Honestly I'd happily put people up in my guest room and offer all the Psyducks one could ever want for a Sandshrew.

Would make this one optional for privacy reasons. I could get behind a "ghost mode". But pretty good overall.

I wouldn't add neither option to be honest. High security risk for the user.

Of course time runs down while you're not in the app :v)

Don't worry. Yesterday night Puerto Rico servers worked for like 10 minutes. Saw a crabby, eevee, pidgeot, clefairy 2 zubats. Used incense, Saw the pidgeot, wasted 12 out of 40 balls, last ball caught him, game froze. Logged back in didnt caught the pidgeot, other Pokemons were still there but incense ran out, used another servers crashed :)

I didn't put it in my FAQ, either- mostly because I don't have any of the answers to the sure-to-be-frequently-asked-questions about how it actually works. But as soon as there are detailed impression from it out or I get my hands on one, I will.

Ah understandable. It looks to be something very basic; Led, vibration and a button. A way to pass Pokemon Go only notifications to that, and for the button to respond to them. I guess one of the most frequent questions to expect would be - which body part do you put this on :p

I'm confused why I take over a gym and it won't let me put any of my best Mons in the gym. Is there some kind of CP limit? Because I have a 1000 Arcanine and an 800 Rhydon but it wouldn't let me put anything higher than my 582 Wigglytuff in the gym.

I've caught a crap load of Pokemon without wasting Pokeballs. So what's the deal with these Pokeballs curving right? It's wasting my Pokeballs! How do I prevent them from curving right? I'm doing the same thing I've always done.

They definitely went the safe route by not showing other trainers. People are already using lure locations to find easy mugging targets.

I like your suggestions though.

2 questions.

If I use an incense will I get a good deal of encounters just sitting at home?

If I turn wifi/data off will my walking distance still count towards eggs?

I got about 5 in twenty minutes, then the servers went down.

Not sure about the other question I just use GPS with the game.

If it were put in, definitely have the location sharing off by default. Make it so you have to enable all the features for that one.

I'd have it on though.

The reason I wouldn't allow the option to see other players is because the risk of the user getting attacked by thugs/thief using the app to commit crimes (like the recent news article) and if the option is allowed then I wouldn't allow ghosting is because the possibility of being used, again, to commit crimes.

The only way I could see this to be allowed if it's executed like the street pass in the 3ds. Only see other users that are really close to you.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
I cant fucking believe this game. Germany story (game not out here yet).
It makes people smile. It makes random people talk at midnight. It feels like an actual real life Pokemon trip. I was hiking to a nearby yellow arena today, thought I'd take it on. While preparing myself, I noticed someone else throwing a lure 2 streets away from me. I bike there and stand in the middle of a dark alley with no one else around me. 10 minutes later, some other players walk in, asking me if I dropped the lure. We all had some connection issues, caught the occasional Rattata and talked a bit about how fascinating it is that this game blew up. After the lure stopped, they continued on their way to a friend and I went back to the yellow arena. About the same time that I arrived, someone else arrives and we both look at each other and our phones. We both stop at the arena place. "Pokemon?" "Yep." "Which team?" "Blue" "GOOD, lets pair up then! :D"

After the arena battle, I see a nearby Ghastly, but it escapes. At the time it escapes, an Eevee pops up on my radar but I get a low battery warning. I try to catch it anyway, but couldnt find it. Since my phone was almost dead by now, I wanted to call it quits and drove back home. At about half way, I saw another silhouette I didnt have yet. A closer look tells me it was a Jynx. I didnt have much hope finding it with a few minutes left, but it was basically right under my nose. I started the fight, threw 5 pokeballs and... the connection dropped. I cursed into the night and restarted the game as frantically as I could, hoping I would get back in time before my battery is empty. Around that time, my battery showed the blinking X instead of being "just" empty.

Once I got back in again, I saw it for a few seconds, got a connection hiccup and then Jynx disappeared. Rather disappointed, I left the area and continued back home. A few metres further, I checked the radar again and the Jynx apparently was back! I raced back to the park, threw one of those "like" fruits, a few pokeballs and caught it on my third try.

10 seconds later, my phone went dark. I stood there for a few seconds and grinned... and made plans to buy a portable recharger very, VERY soon.

When I cycled back from the gym (the actual lifting-weights-kind) I saw at least three groups of people just roaming around, unmistakably all playing Pokemon Go.

What the fuck, shit's cray.

I was going to drop a lure on the Pokespot that I can access from my home but the servers aren't holding so I guess i'll save that one.

I had same problem but I noticed that you can't put in Pokemons that don't have full hp.

hehe. I'm thinking:

-What state does the game need to be in to work with the Go Plus? Suspended, screen off, battery saver, fully on?
-How can it catch Pokémon with one press when catching even with a very accurate throw is not guaranteed, and items like Razz Berries come into play?
-Does it track steps itself or not? This actually isn't mentioned in the description but it seems like a very commonly-repeated feature.
-It's using Bluetooth LE (so your phone must have that compatibility), but is it otherwise compatible with all Android and iOS versions?
-Rechargeable and using what plug standard?
-Will there be official skins for it that indicate what Team you're on because if not THIS IS A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR IDEA AND I'M TAKING IT

You can only put one of your own pokemon in there, which I actually just confirmed last night. So you mean the Wigglytuff AND something else, that's why.

I only had 4-5 catches. I hear its more if you're walking around with it.

Yeah, I used an incense at work.. there was an Ekans and a silhoutte for a Ghastly. Just ended up getting 2 pidgeys and 2 ratatas sadly. Doesn't seem to be worth using unless you're in a generally good area I assume (this was the first time I'd tried one).

It's starting to become more apparent that it being summer time is definitely helping this game with people running the streets at all times of the day and night. I'd imagine once school lets back in, this fervor will die down.

What I need more than anything is a "is Pokemon Go down for everyone or just me" site. I can never tell if my connection is shit or if it's the servers that are shit. Something is definitely shit, though.

I wonder if this is going to also work with future Pokemon games.

I've approached and talked to so many random people now. It's this great feeling of being in on this together. It's a reason to talk to strangers. Social capital.

Game is a lot of fun. The Alamo is a hotly contested areas, I was able to capture it for about 10 minutes but it was quickly taken back on my walk back to work!

Tomorrow I'm taking it back!

I mean really nearby like enough to see the other person clearly this is to encourage battling or trading or even socialising.
Thing is, I'm not sure it's even necessary to see other players on the map to encourage that stuff. I've met and socialized with plenty of people just hanging out near gyms or pokestops or rare pokemon spawns. When they do implement trading and battling, I imagine it'll be done through pokestops.

Damn these servers. LET ME BACK IN!!!

Yeah I popped a lucky egg and incense (that I paid for) and the game promptly stopped working. Can't get in and it's been 25 minutes.

This is bullshit. I want a refund for the three times it's happened with paid items, but I'm sure that's going to take days with support emails and my time is worth more than the $10.

man I don't know how everyone else feels but I am still loving these stories. That's awesome, congrats on getting the Jynx at the buzzer :D

Pokedex says I saw Dragonite but didn't catch him.

I put $20 into this game earlier today too. Maybe I'll revisit that when the service is more reliable.

I guess everyone should abandon iOS for android, also next cycle all phone managers should reintroduce removable backs and swappable batteries :D

edit: Don't mean to make like of those security concerns- that's really shitty and bizarre that it's just on iOS in the first place. Hope they amend the policy quickly.

Ah yeah, I was going to write a section on it a little closer to release/when we know some more about it.

Also...this is definitely happening to me so I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

I turned Lv 10 last night and...my Pokeballs have been whiffing like crazy. I'm throwing directly up but they fly through the air, usually way off to the right, occasionally to the left. I'm not doing the spinning thing, they're simply flying off really far after throwing.

I'm also noticing that even really babby pokemon are breaking out. Yesterday a Magikarp around 80 CP got out and actually fled, and just a few minutes ago an Caterpie I was fighting around 40 CP got out and fled.

So this is just to increase the challenge until you get the great balls right? Anyone who's up that high, do you get more of those from stops, more Pokeballs or an even amount?
