the area here is rather thin in pokestops yet there are a lot of attractions and other regions that would very well qualify for a pokestop

To be fair I had just woke up and that was the first thing my friends were messaging me about. Hence posted it here to see if it was legit or not. THEN I read it released in other territories.
The only time i have not gotten anything it seems the stop wont load fully.

The servers are probably dead because it's the weekend and they added 26 more countries to the list.
That's because it tries to contact the server but doesn't get a response. So it's not really a bug it's just the network traffic.
Launching in so many countries on the same day is like a mass scale DDOS attack

I personally wouldn't consider 25 server requests a ddos.
Yes. Pokestops with pink confetti have lures active and will spawn more Pokemon.
I think Incense works anywhere and will attract Pokemon, so if you're not near a Pokestop that's probably what you need.

I'm not understanding the whole video with people in Central Park losing their crap over a Vaporeon spawning. I play casually and I have three of them in my party right now just due to evolving Eevees. By casual I mean I never went to a city or purposely went to a place just to play Pokemon, I just get them on my morning walks.

I finally was able to get enough Eevees for my first evolution last night, with exactly 25 candy. They aren't that common around here. Plus seeing a wild evolved one is kind acool.

Eevee isn't that common around NYC from my experience. We are the place for Doduo. Those are everywhere.
Drops vary by location so what's more common in one place may be rarer in another.
Seen a grand total of one Doduo don't here in South FL. Heard tales of them being in certain parks though.
