MCV: Mario & Pokemon coming within 6 months of NX launch, 3rd parties, exec comment

Sun and Moon would be good launch window releases, but, depending on their enhancements, I'm not sure they would have a huge draw.

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
Activision bring the Skylanders and Warners bring the Legos I assume... ugh... I expect third party support for this thing to be garbage.

can't wait for BGE2 to be announced and see the usual "They stole our games" reaction, just to deny possible decent lineup for a console clearly not targeted at PS4 fans ;p

Sun Moon port...is the entire game downrezzed or something or are they gonna have to polish the fuck out of this 360p

6 months after late spring is already time enough for a potential Sun/Moon 2 lol

A new pokemon game 'not a huge draw'? These games are what made the DS and the 3DS successful, Pokemon Go is the best performing app of all time, Pokemon is absolutely a huge draw regardless of platform.

3rd versions and remakes always do well, but put it on a new platform entirely and it's going to do even better than those usually would. And get your console/handheld units moving nicely.

Yeah I don't buy the Pokémon Sun and Moon getting a port to the NX as Game Freak will not divide their install base.

And before you post Pokémon Crystal Game Freak treated gen 2 more of a Game Boy Colour game just that Gold and Silver just happened to be backward compatible.

I don't quite understand what you mean with the first bit...

Just thinking about HD mainline Pokémon, even if it's just Sun/Moon ports *drools*
If the rumors about the NX is true, I'd love to play it on my TV then pick up the console and being able to continue my game while traveling.

I hope they can keep a steady stream of first party, indies and sports games coming. Not too fussed about AAA games personally.

How cool would it be if the rumored multilayer controllers allowed you to play Fifa or Madden against people on the go!

Btw people clinging on to historical patterns and projecting characteristics onto a company like game freak "they would never do that" "they only release games such and such way" , remember that the odds of historical precedence or keeping to a pattern being at all relevant to whether or not they decide to create or release something are probably near 0%.

I don't quite understand what you mean with the first bit...

I'm asking how are they intending to port a 360p game to an HD systen without it looking like ass. I know the Pokemon models are downrezzed but idk about other assets and trainers

I'm gonna hate a prime 4 if it plays anything like blast ball. I just can't go back to not having something like a wiimote control scheme. I suspect I'm going to have the same problem with pikmin 4.

Playing pikmin without motion controls is going to fucking suck.

You cant have a successful console just by targeting casuals and families. Wii was successful cause you had games for everyone at the beggining; you had the casual stuff, the family friendly stuff but you also had Red steel, Silent Hill, COD, Medal of Honor, Metroid, Zelda etc.You had variety.

You almost have to wonder if Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game for the NX launch.

Well it won't be the first(it's also 240p). Resident Evil Revelations, Ex Troopers, Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, Castlevania Mirror of Fate, One Piece Unlimited Red and Kingdom Hearts DDD were all ported to HD systems and none of them look too bad.

You take too much stock in the opinions of unnamed sources.

This source make sense. It falls in line perfectly with Eurogamer spec rumors, Ubisoft president comments that "They'll regain the casual market" and Nintendo philosophy of not competing with Sony and MS.

Well, I don't know about all that being the case this time around.

We know the new Zelda will be there. Plus, the last two consoles they released had launch titles for the "hardcore" gamer, like that Ninja Gaiden game, Red Steel, ZombiU, etc. so they had some "mature" stuff alongside everything else.

The game will be available 5 months ahead of time on 3DS. Those who want the games won't wait. It'll have an appeal, but not the same appeal as a new exclusive Pokemon release. That's why I said it depends on the types of enhancements the game gets if it releases on NX. A straight port isn't that enticing.

It's kind of weird that so many people are saying it's gonna be mobile versions of the games when we know for certain that NX is getting Zelda the breathe of the wild, which is a console level game, that'll be on Wii U as well.

You almost have to wonder if Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game for the NX launch.
Think about Dragon Quest XI.

They showed 2 versions at Nintendo, one for NX that looked like the PS4 version and one that was for handheld that looked more old-school.

What if Zelda has the big Wii U experience on the TV, but an old-school LTTP styled version of the same game for the handheld?

“It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one,” said one exec that has got hands on with the machine. “It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”

Man this does not sound appetizing like at all.

That seems like a huge mistake.

240p actually. And no, it's not enough time.

didnt they said that is the same experience between Wii U and NX?

I guess the real question is what appeals to PS4 fans? AAA games? Shooters? Seems like a strange and general statement to make. I'd have asked him to clarify that a bit.

well PS4 fans didnt liked the Vita either, so maybe he was refering to handhelds in general?

That would be a disaster, so I hope it's not the case.

Zelda would be good to get the hardcore games on board (which will likely lead the sales in the early months), so it would be a smart launch title. But if they really want to position the system towards families and smartphone gamers, they may have something else.

So it's gonna look like ass lol. Yeah they're not too bad but they're not great either. RE was voodoo...also...

Holy shit that's right lmao 240p ffs

And yes it is enough time. Game Freak works on more than one game at a time and there was a year break remember? It's not implausible at all that sun/moon 2 will be finished in 2017

Yea, because that's stereotyping gamers when there are alot of digital sales on smaller games like alienation, ratchet and clank, preorders for no man's sky are high as well.

There's way more than shooters and third party on PS4. ANd I think demographically Nintendo would be shooting themselves in the foot to get mobile people to buy another device that wont make calls, and what not.

No one wants another tablet, unless the device is suppose to replace what you have and give compelling reasons why it should be your go to device.

Just curious, what are you hoping for?

Something that doesn't have mobile games being pushed, something that has western studio games, not third party, as in studios they could have making games for the west on top of Japanese output and their own internal studios.

If they launch this thing with their push being play mobile and some somwhat AAA internally made games on the go, I'm out. I want this thing to be worth putting in the living room. ANd this article kind of shows where they're focus might be device wise.

I'd imagine a super powerful third party friendly console that has all the hot AAA games coming out. Something like that.

Thanks for stereotyping me.
