If this makes it out without a C&D from Nintendo, I'm going to be amazed, but there's less than 24 hours left. It will prove Metroid really is dead.

Still holding out hope for an official remake, but I'll check this out if it makes it out! The effort put into this remake is astounding.

Didn't think I'd see the day when this would actually be released. Looking forward to playing it and huge grats to the developer.

Squeeeee it's finally out after so much time. Mad props to the dude for keeping at it for so long.

By the way, how do I connect a dual shock 3 or wiiu pro controller to Windows 8?

Also a Zero Mission editor came out like a month ago, in which will make rom hacks much easier to make.

I'm super tempted to try my hand at one

Nintendo never C&D this kind of stuff if there's no money being made off it.

Going to install Windows on my MacBook Air just to play this. I love Metroid but I never really got into Metroid II because of the lack of a map and every room looking the same.

Please can we just go one thread, especially this thread, without the silly C&D comments? Please?! They add literally nothing to the discussion.

And I am so fucking ready for this. Been waiting for years.

Amazing. I have been following this game for years, and it's great that they were finally able to complete it.

I've been following the project since 2009 or so. It feels unreal that it's finally coming out, and it's amazing that DoctorM64 picked this day to release it. The attention to detail put in AM2R rivals that of any official Metroid game, and we are really fortunate a fan was so determined to create it. I hope the launch goes smoothly.

I'm hopeful this will make a nice complement to my semi-regular Metroid 2 replay! Been keeping an eye on it for so long... I think I changed flats at least five times since I first found it? Finished my studies, came and went in the industry... all the while keeping up with the updates :-D I still half can't believe it's actually coming out!

Man I remember when aborted Metroid 2 fan remakes were a dime a dozen. They were pretty much the OOT2Ds of the Metroid community.

Hard to believe one of them actually stuck through to completion, and with such high quality too if the demo is anything to go by.

Oh wow! I did not know this finally had a release date. At times I wasn't sure if it was ever going to be fully released to be honest. I mean, it's been in the making for about a decade from what I recall.

Really looking forward to playing this.

So excited. I've been following this project for years and I love Metroid 2 so I can't wait.

I just hope it has a smooth launch with no issues... This is truly the celebration Samus deserves.

But..."METROID 3" is the second thing you see in super metroid right after "NINTENDO PRESENTS"

Can't believe it's finally almost here. I remember when I first heard about this and another ambitious Metroid 2 remake back in 2008. The other one looked better at the time...but it crapped out pretty quick.

Posted in the other thread, but wanted to check here too:

When I try the demo on my little Windows 10 demo I can here the music, but there's just a black screen.

Is my tablet too limited, or is there something I can do to fix it?
For reference, my tablet is a Dell Venue 8 Pro with Windows 10, Intel Atom Z3740D (1.33 GHz), 2GB RAM, 1280x800 resolution.

Subbed. Between Axiom Verge last year and AMR2 this year, 2D Metroid is making a comeback (without Nintendo doing shit).

so excited. played MII on Gameboy a ton back when I was a kid, when it launched. But it was so hard to tell where you were with the green screen. This will be awesome.

But didn't they C&D Project M? I thought that was free.

No, but the developers were afraid they or another license holder would due to the sort of "passive aggressiveness" that was targeting the game. I.e., Twitch banning it.

The only fan projects Nintendo has C&D'd are 1) projects that are for profit or request donations, 2) projects that directly compete with their own, and 3) projects that could potentially be confused for an actual Nintendo product.

Definitely looking forward to this releasing, hopefully he hits his target date.

I'm pumped. I've been following this project for nearly a decade, have played all the demos, and have never been let down. DM64 did solid work, and I'm excited to finally get to play the final product!

He even made the correct choice of modeling the gameplay after the superior Zero Mission. :)

My avatar is from one I tried to make.

This is probably the worst Metroid (yes, even worse than Other M), but this remake and this team have not been anything short of fantastic. I played the demo a while back and have been following this project for a long while now. Can't wait.
