"ISSUES

We’re tracking a number of issues, bugs and crashes that players are reporting, and working to resolve as soon as possible.

The number of people players, and length of average play session, has been far more than our small team could have anticipated. That said, we’re working quickly to adapt.

We sincerely apologise to anyone affected in the meantime.

Here are some things to be aware of:
We’ve brought a new QA team on board today (larger than the entire Hello Games team!). This will complement the existing Sony QA team.
We are working on fixes for the most critical issues, which will be in a patch in the near future.
We will be moving to a ticketed support system next week, and have hired someone to manage this starting Monday.
Some information will be posted in the Sony forums here http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Games-Services/bd-p/22190

Or contact Hello Games here http://www.no-mans-sky.com/support/

Workarounds
Here are some workarounds for some known issues:
If you believe you are stuck, or can’t reach your ship, be aware you can jetpack forever whilst pushing against any surface
If you have made a mistake – you can revert to any of your two previous saves in the Options Menu
If you have left your ship somewhere inaccessible, you will be able to summon it from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest (marked by question marks)

It has been reported that some players have not received a pre-order bonus. In most cases so far, the player has either not redeemed their bonus correctly from the PS store or from the Options Menu. Also sometimes players have received the bonus, but the name displayed in-game was incorrect. The Alpha Vector ship is named Domanish S84 in-game, and (in the US) the Rezosu AZ65 is named Final Shadow XIV in game.

It has been reported that using the pre-order bonus ship will leave some players stranded, if they purchase or transfer to a new ship that does not have a hyperdrive (if done very early in game). In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far). The game already detects the player needs a hyperdrive and directs them to a nearby NPC who will give the player the hyperdrive they need. Some other players were able to resolve this issue by restarting their console.

Hopefully this helps some players. If you still are having issues, please contact Hello Games support here:
mailto:support@hellogames.co.uk

For those this does not help, please know we are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible in a patch. This will include crash fixes also.

Thank you,
Sean"

So he has time to provide us with all this information...but cant say one thing about if or if not players should be able to see eachother ingame..Keepin it classy ic

Major, major spoilers. Do not look if you don't want to be spoiled on the ending of No Man's Sky.

There is a cutscene with lots of light and transcendence and outer spacey stuff, and then you start all over again in a new galaxy, far from the center as before, with your ship and tools broken. New Game+. Can't go back to the first galaxy. Presumably, everyone will go from the same first galaxy to the same second galaxy, and onward for who knows how long.

Just to clarify: Stuff is broken but everything is still there (e.g. resources)

SPOILERS! you've been warned
No man's sky ending

wait wtf is this. how did they get to the centre already???

He'll be dodging this question till the end of time.

Year 2046

Interviewer: So Sean. 30 years later I think you can finally tell us. Can or can we not see other players?

Sean: People are still playing No Man's Sky. This blows my mind.

Interviewer: No big surprise there Sean, the game is a Happy Meal freebie since 2026, after McDonalds bought Sony. Kids are playing the game on their Vive Hololens Rifts while eating french fries. But you aren't answering my question.

Sean: Over the past 30 years people discovered over 40 trillion planets.

Interviewer: Sean. That's fine but I'd like to know...

Sean (interrupts the interviewer): And the center is still a mystery. Amazing.

Interviewer: Actually no, we know about it.

Sean: People are still playing No Man's Sky. This blows my mind.

Interviewer: Yeah... Sean you already mentioned that.

Sean: Over the past 30 years people discovered over 40 trillion planets

Interviewer: ...

Sean: And the center is still a mystery. Amazing.

Interviewer (looks at his editor): Is he okay?

Sean: People are still playing No Man's Sky. This blows my mind.

[2 hours later, Interview team leaves in frustration]

Sean: Works every time. Suckers.

Hahaha. Thanks.

If this game was $20 it would have had a lot more going for it.

Multiplayer issues aren't issues for games without multiplayer!

Can you even still see friends on the galactic map? I haven't seen a way to do that or zoom the map all the way out like was previously stated possible.

I only brought up how absurd the ending is because it's a huge WTF for me. Plus, it adds up to the context of this thread

Here is the thread if you guys want to continue with the spoiler discussion.

Multiplayer issues aren't issues for games without multiplayer!
Headed for a black hole
Hurting like hell
Finding my way to bottom of the Galaxy
Packing up my suitcase
Leaving no trace
One step closer with every liftoff
A deafening silence
Like you like me
Where you want me
Saying nothing
But not this time
I'm gonna say
I'm gonna say
What reddit couldn't say
Couldn't break thru
Under the influence of you
Incoherent, truth serum
Just enough to make me multiplayer proof
I'm so over this love gone violent
I'm drunk and brave enough to say
What games media couldn't say
Criminal in my mind
I've been doing forum time
Believing in the lie
That you still loved me
Making up for
The slamming of the Twitter door
Always wanting more but never giving
Sick of crying
Tired of trying
Always buying
Into every lie
But not this time

Can we please keep the spoilers out? I'm really afraid to click anything on accident :(

Elite is great. I've been putting a ton of time into it but I also have a Vive and Hotas so it all feels amazing. It also helped that I backed it at a tier that all expansions are "free" to me.

I've been watching NMS closely but it looks to fall way short of what I wanted. We'll see I guess.

The way people are talking about this game is starting to give me some Destiny launch day deja vu, meaning basically playing more and more of a game while I keep thinking "there has to be more than this right?"

I might still get it if they finally address some of this stuff and if the PC version is amazing but I'm really not feeling it right now. It's a shame because it's doing things (planetary landings and exploration) that Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen won't be doing for a long while.

By the time their content patch comes out, you should be able to find a pretty cheap used copy of NMS, then the value proposition might line up.

Btw, Sean several times talked about planets with massive storms including hurricanes and tornadoes. I'm curious if anyone has found a tornado planet.

Planets I have been on have been damn boring in regards to weather.

I encountered my first storm on a planet. It's a barren type planet so nothing crazy, but it was like a sandstorm/heat storm. Really had to find shelter fast.

I guess my standpoint is that I can forgive a few misses when you've been so instrumental in a masterpiece like Morrowind. Some of them I don't even consider major misses, I really enjoyed Fallout 3 as well. 4 is a disappointment, though.

Molyneux had far more misses than hits, and even his hits were fraught with lies.

EDIT: Sorry though, back to regularly scheduled NMS thread.

Even ignoring NMS, I feel similarly about Sean Murray for his work on Burnout 3: Takedown. That game is a legit classic, still in my top couple of favourite racers of all time, and the guy invented the "takedown" mechanic which is still in many racers today.

You definitely get crazy storms. Not seen hurricanes specifically though.

Keep playing - all the boring planets are utterly worth it for when you find a really amazing planet, one that wows you.

PS barren planets are usually amazing for mining so make the most of those goldmines

Since you can pause the game, it's a solo game guys, it was never a multiplayer.

Loads of games with frozen-time pauses change to having real-time pauses when another player is present

Not that it's an indicator either way anyway

If Hello is keeping quiet so as to not impact PC pre-orders, then it could be another two weeks before the matter is addressed as Steam's refund window on pre-orders is two weeks following release (or two hours of play), not two weeks following the purchase.

i don't like the tone being directed at the developers. I don't even see the "controversy" this was never billed as a multiplayer game.

What are you talking about? I never followed this game closely but even I knew from watching the Stephen Colbert segment months ago that it was supposed to have multiplayer.

Yea but multiplayer was teased on several occassion...doesnt seem like you actually read the thread because if you had youd know that what you just posted has been brought up (almost on every page at some point) and adressed. So have you actually read the thread enough to acuratly conclude that its toxic?

Edit: additionally a mod edited the title of the thread to controversy (if im not mistaken, correct my if im wrong somebody). So clearly the titles accurate.

Oh but it was, in more than one occasion actually. You should check out this thread a little more.

Can someone please provide a quote then as all i can remember is the developer saying things along the lines of that its a shared universe and to think of it of a single player game. I have followed the development of the game fairly closely and i can't think of a time it was definitely billed as a multiplayer game where you find your friends and do discover things together.

Sorry to say this but they have bigger things to be dealing with than this thread on NeoGaf.

There are some unfortunate game-breaking bugs in NMS that are preventing the game from working properly for many people, namely:
- It's hard crashing, particularly when using the warp drive. I've had two crashes in about twenty hours. Others are much less fortunate.
- The DLC bug, touched upon in their statement though not in a particularly satisfactory way
- Inventory\upgrade bug where people aren't seeing upgrades they've found
- online servers are frequently offline

Then you have multiple gameplay issues that need addressing:
- Cannot see mutli-tool upgrades if you have no free slots in multi-tool
- Galaxy map looks and sounds great but it's not particularly functional
- system map in the ship is next to useless
- scanning from the ship is next to useless
- no planet map, making it virtually impossible to return to the same spot if you leave the planet
- cannot scan birds unless you kill them first
- combat in space and on land is very limited and unsatisfying
- Inventory management is too clunky, especially in the early game when space is limited. Inventory slots become more important than holding rare items

The "you can't meet up with friends" issue is way down on the list of priorities for this game, especially when its a (very) vocal minority that have taken issue to it.

Also people are complaining about the ending. I don't know what it is, but the point of this game is that there is no ending. They added a 'goal' because people like to have something to focus on, but that's not the point of the game. Exploring is the point.

I think this problem is far bigger and more important than you think. It isn't just a thread on NeoGAF.

The frustration you're seeing isn't born from wanting Hello to fix the MP so much as it is wanting the matter to be addressed or even just acknowledged. If Sean had issued a tweet to the effect of "We're aware that players cannot interact with one another and will comment in the coming days", there'd be far less vitriol, but instead there's a very strong impression that Hello is deliberately avoiding the matter and so those who were intrigued by the idea of possibly meeting and interacting with another player are feeling as though they've been cast aside. It's not a terribly obtuse concept: something that was supposed to be in the game is missing and people who were interested in this element would like to know why.

Maybe while they're at it they could add back in those features they used to sell their game. Might help, just sayin.
