Nolan managed to do a great Batman story because he treated it the same way as all his other movies, he didn't approach it like a "comic-book movie" trying to satisfy millions of nerds by shovelling in as many cameos and famous imagery as possible. He focuses on a story that audiences could invest in. That's the way to go if you want to tell a "mature" story with these characters. You can't just give Zac Snyder $100m and order him to make a Marvel movie for adults, people like him should be directing music videos.

A 67% drop isn't due to people "listening to critics", it's due to people seeing the movie and telling their friends "this movie is fucking trash."

Suicide Squad doing worse than Thor 2 and almost equal with BvS using this metric indicates that audience reception for the film isn't nearly as good as some people here on GAF would have you believe; it's actually bad.

Batman Forever was a better movie and more enoyable in every way than Batman vs Superman. Batman & Robin was also more enjoyable even if it wasn't "better" than just about anything. I'll gladly watch Batman & Robin a dozen more times before I'd ever sit through Martha and Martha again.

The Saturday and Sunday week-to-week drops were pretty similar to BvS as well.
Isn't 50% typical though? I don't think a second weekend of $40-50 million feels like tanking.
