Does anyone know how to backup a game bought off the windows store, I have had no luck at all in the past. Annoying to have to download 100's of gigs of games when you end up reformatting your computer.

FH 3 is now sitting on my XB1 - how do I get it on my PC?

No idea whether PC will support pre-load at this point.

If you have the game preordered on either PC or Xbox, it'll show up in "My Library" on the Windows Store. You can just click the download button from there which will give you a placeholder. If there's a pre-load for the game, that placeholder will automatically update to the preload once it's released.

The error code is 0x80073CF9 - at first I thought it might be due to trying to install on the D drive as I'd heard the store had some issues outside the C drive, but that error appears even when choosing the C drive for install.

Other games seem to install fine, so I'm hoping it's just "the game hasn't been released yet".

Edit: So I found a fix for this which allowed it to get slightly further in the download, and then stopped with a different error, 0x80070005. Going to wait until release and hope it just works. This store is a usability nightmare.

I believe 80070005 can happen if you're using Windows Compression on your secondary hard disk.

What do you see if you right-click on the hard drive from Explorer, click Properties, and look at the check box second-from bottom? Is "Compress this drive to save disk space" checked?

So there still haven't released a video or an article detailing how the career/progression will work in the new game?

This is the thing that preventing me from buying the game right now.

I don't really want more of FH2 shitty structure and hope they'll go back to something similar to FH1

It will probably be more like 2, given that you're the owner of the festival, though I know there aren't any more road trips between championships.

If you're looking for the Horizon 1 style of starting off as a nobody and then rising through the ranks to eventually take on Darius, I doubt we'll be seeing any more of that.

Same here. Something tells me it'll be more like 2 and less like one though.

It's going to lose all of the things that made the first special. The only thing they'll have in common will be cars and music. Smh

you need to sacrifice your life to save your equipment in these high levels, if they gets taken out you're pretty much screwed.

if I see a boss getting too close it's time to move them back, if it's a lost cause your team needs to jump in the way and wipe so you still have something for the next round.

to me it looks too hard to be stick on a boss level with no gear and no energy... equipment preservation is crucial.

EDIT- wrong thread, sorry 'bout that!

Indeed. This is why I only use cosmetic damage.

They've really nailed the look of the Australian countryside.

Feels like home. Some seriously good work here, Turn 10 could learn a bit from Playground.

Are there going to be any Australian landmarks like the Harbor Bridge and Uluru?

From what I've seen there's the Yarra Valleys, Dandenong Ranges, twelve apostles, a bit of Sydney/Brisbane type city. I can't remember if Uluru was ever shown but Alice Springs is definitely represented.

What makes you hate FH2's career structure, and why was FH1's so much better? As a fan of both games, I'd like to hear your insight!

Anyone know if the ultimate edition will be available in retail form? The stores in my country only seem to be taking pre-orders for standard editions (btw I don't care about the play 3 days earlier deal, only interested in all the starting content in one bundle).

Amazon has it in the U.S.

And Byron Bay, a hippy town with nothing special other than a fish and chip shop on the beach.

As a fan of MotorStorm, a resident of Australia, and with the game coming out less than a week after my birthday: I am excited. Hope PC performance is good.

The best thing about both games was the actual racing.
It's going to have that at least.

Had a presentation during gamescom, a little surprised this apparently wasn't known so far:

It uses the structure of FH2 and goes one step further: Not only can you start any race you want, but you can change the car restrictions and other rules for every race. You can just use the standard race built by Playground Games but you can also just say "Nope, this offroad race will only allow McLaren F1s". You can save your settings for that race and then all your friends will see your settings as one of the possible options for that race.

Have they spoke about the online at all?

I loved the online in Horizon 2 but felt more modes (particularly ones similar to Infected/King) and more points for your position when you race to each event would be great.

I've got an Xbox One and a decent gaming PC, I was planning to purchase this digitally which will allow it to be played on either device. But I was hoping for me to be able to play it on the PC and my 6 year old lad to play on the Xbox one simultaneously hopefully in CoOp mode. Do you think this will be possible ?

Thanks - unfortunately compression was disabled on both drives.

Are we supposed to be able to preload the full 40+ GB on PC right now if things are working as intended? I have ~140kb in the game's "OpusPG" Windows app folder spread across various folders, XML files and images. I wonder if that's actually all we're supposed to be able to download right now and the store just does a poor job of saying "wait until a later date to download the rest"?

From what I know, they added Capture the Flag as a game mode, and I believe the road trip to each event is gone.

I don't think you can but I'm not sure.

The good thing about FH1 was it's tiered progression; each new wristband meant longer races in different areas with faster cars (or sometimes with special restrictions, like "A class but only cars that cost less than 30 grand to buy"

In comparison, in FH2 (at least on 360, not sure about X1) you can just use the same damn car for almost every single race because the AI always adapts to what you're driving.

There is a new playground game called Flag Rush, don't know what it entails yet.
Mentioned in this video

5:50 mark
Flag Rush, that's what it is, couldn't remember the name.

The help document has this to say about it:
At the start of a Flag Rush game, flags will spawn around the map. Race over to one to pick it up. Drop it off at the designated capture zone to score points! Be careful though, if any other player crashes into you while you’re carrying a flag, they’ll steal it off of you!

No road trip to each event? Really..?

That seems surprising, I wonder why they would take that out.
As far as I know, it's gone. It seemed a bit messy anyway, often people would load in quicker than others and get a head start, or a player could join mid trip and just happen to be very close to the destination. I think people also made use of weird XP grinding techniques during that time that could move them a position ahead between events.

That's not true.

And also I don't see the problem with FH2 structure. It gives you freedom. Do what you want, choose the location, chose your event and your car. I really loved it.

I think you can do this if the account you bought the game on (yours) has the Xbox set as its home console, then sign into his account on that Xbox and you should be able to access it, and play simultaneously.
I share digital games with someone using this method between Xboxes, so I think it should be the same with a PC.

On the X1 version you have class and car type(28 car types)
The AI racers will always use whatever class you use and whatever car type the race says you need to use.
In FH3 you can choose whatever car type or class for every race.

Bad thing about F1 was you can't just choose a car and go and race in it, you have to choose one of the predefined races that allow you to use that car in that race.
You also have to search the map by yourself trying to find a suitable race :(

So I've never played a Forza Horizon game. I liked Forza 3 and Apex on PC. I would pick this up but dang it's super expensive on PC. Horizons are open world, right? How is the open world gameplay of the series? Is it fun, is there open world challenges, or other stuff to make it interesting?

Open world stuff in FH2 included:

Barn finds
Bucket list challenges
Smash boards (2 sets?)
Speed traps and zones
Challenging drivatars to point-to-point races

Cool, fairly standard open world driving stuff then? I was kinda worried the open world would be empty and just serve as a way to get to a race.

Lots of extra stuff to do if similar to the first 2 games

Events, Challenges, Showcases (like running against a train/airplane etc.), barn finds, rival races, crashing signs (in FH2 some were extra hard to get, because they required precise jumps and stuff like that), MP modes like virus/zombie
