A console that could could play Crash Bandicoot 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Chains of Olympus, Gravity Rush and Uncharted 4 in one place would be the fucking dream
My ps4 has been loud for a few months but today its absolutely exploded in noise. Cannot even trade in as i removed stickers to clean it our properly. Honestly it sounds horrendous
The VR thing but it's been heavily promoted for Xbox. They even had a FF themed console for their pax stuff. Same with BF. I'm positive you'll see the Xbox logo at the end of FF commercials.
People really should stop fooling themselves. It's gonna be a ~4.2 - 4.5 TFLOP GPU and that's it. Which is more than enough for a November 2016 console.
Can't wait for the "oooooh I'm disappointed because I thought it's gonna be a 5+TFLOP GPU" comments after the conference.

I think theyve had a decent amount of time, it would be cool to see what theyve done if they do show up

I would think the only thing that's holding them back is licensing issues. I'm not sure myself so don't take that as an accurate statement but I remember that coming up in a similar discussion a while back.
Because if licensing isn't an issue (perhaps for rights for the titles as digitally but one would think that shouldn't apply for physical copies, or perhaps they do?), emulators for ps1/ps2 should be a must in all future Sony stuff. PSP too now. PSV, given it's dead status, should also be a prime candidate.

It wasn't just a VR thing. It was a full on trailer first for the regular game, and then they showed off VR. And how has it been "heavily promoted for Xbox" when nearly everytime they show footage, it's of the ps4 version.
Outside of Japan, SE is handling the FF XV marketing. If there was a marketing deal in place, we would've already seen the xbox logo at the end of FF trailers/commercials by now.
Final Fantasy XIII had themed consoles for both the ps3 and 360. And of course they can't announce/show an FF Themed console for ps4 when the slim & Neo haven't officially been revealed yet. I'm fully expecting a FF themed Slim or Neo to be announced by the end of TGS.
Dude, it's not even as simple as that. The Xbox One emulating the 360 was an engineering miracle (according to MS) and you're expecting the way more complex PS3 to be emulated by just raw power alone?
If your talking about NEO, that was what it was designed to do. Its not a huge revelation based on expert analysis from you to predict that some games might be 4K on the NEO at some point. And it generally doesn't clear you saying Cell can be emulated by brute force of an APU alone by saying you thought this device could do 4K.

The SPEs are vector units & the CU are vector units so if they use microcode to reconfig the CUs to look like SPEs the software would never know it's not actually running on a PS3.
I can't recall, but I think the leaked slides in April mentioned the same HDD are launch PS4, however there have been mentions of using a 1tb drive since.
It's going to be very challenging to utilize a CPU and GPU together to emulate something like that, I'm still astonished that Microsoft pulled off Xbox 360 emulation.
It doesn't mean that games are going to be naively 4K though, not without any tricks or techniques like that patent that mentions up rendering, that's what people were getting at mostly.
It's going to need an insane spec boost to do 4K natively without techniques like that or reconstruction techniques like what is used in Rainbow Six Siege.

I'm talking about before the the leaks came out & I was saying that it would be 4K games using smart techniques & people was saying that the 4K would only be for media.
I never said the APU would emulate the Cell by brute force.

They don't have a co-marketing deal. At least not in the same sense as something like Battlefield which, again, is why the game has showed up at Sony's E3 Presser etc. When you consider that FFXV is the only JRPG coming to Xbox One aside from Kingdom Hearts III, you can see why they're trying to push it so hard to their audience.
If Neo is really as thick as this guy is claiming there is something going on here. There's no reason really that the Neo should be any thicker than a standard PS4. I don't believe they've changed any parts at all so why the added thickness? The only thing that really makes sense is to improve airflow / cooling. I think if its as thick as is claimed they have upclocked the GPU / CPU. I'm not expecting anything crazy but 4.5 TF or so on the GPU could indeed happen.

Are you a developer onQ123? Because your posts in this thread have reached a level of techno-babble the likes of which I have not seen outside of a Jeff Rigby thread. I'm not sure if the PS4 Neo is a gaming console or a machine crafted by an elven race that bestows miracles going by your posts on Neo's capabilities.
There's not many DX12 games right now, and some of the implementations of it aren't that great, so DX11 performance is mostly all we can judge that GPU by for now sadly.
Well, almost all 1st party games and some 3rd party ones (like Doom and DICE games) utilize DX12 (Sony's incarnation is called LibGNM) & Async Compute, so in that case AMD flops are equal, if not higher than nVflops.
Other than the titan x, where have you seen Gddr5 in a 12Gb config? People keep bringing up 12Gb but didn't someone say that would require some custom finagling, unlike 8/16Gb?
I know what you're talking about. What I'm saying is that 12GB isn't a normal gddr5 configuration. With RAM prices being what they are, why go after custom chips? If they are bumping RAM, it's not going to be 10 or 12Gb.
Even if it's technically possible (OG XBOX still hasn't been emulated properly), you forget the fact that Sony would have to pay nVidia licensing costs among other things.

I agree completely with everything you said. PC players will benefit greatly from having as strong an upgrade as possible, as games on their platform will look better because of it. But Sony won't benefit from this. Microsoft though, while could benefit from it - won't, as a consequence of weaker hardware on Playstation side.
So yeah, i can see why stronger Neo would be good for everyone except Sony themselves. It's not like multi-platform games will abandon Playstation if they go for the weaker version, and it's not like they will get Xbox primary players to jump ship to them if they'd up the specs.
