Forza Horizon 3 (PC/XB1, 2016) Confirmed; Set in Australia

Sounds a bit better than FH2's content delivery imo. I still wish they would restrict it a bit more so you cant clear a game with 1 car.

Nah I rather it be less restrictive tbh. I like the fact that you can beat this game in one car (if you choose) or using every single car in the game. Also, being able to have long ass championships with 10+ events, and sim damage (w/ fuel and tire wear) means you can create your own hardcore rally essentially. It's as hardcore or as user friendly as you want it to be.

Do we know PC pricing?

Viewing the game within the PC xbox store gives no mention of any pricing or editions.

On the MS website you've got £50 for a standard edition Xbox One download with PC on top.

I'm sure in the past you can buy PC only? 50 fucking quid is really bad. 40 quid is high for a PC game but 50 is through the roof. I know this is normal for console digital. I just want PC.

I'm willing to splurge £40 on this day 1 but the PC store is still very half arsed. Reminds me of the unifying youtube/google+ mess

It will most likely be 50 on PC too

It's MS.

Digitally, it's now a single purchase for all Microsoft first party games going forward. You just buy the digital game and it straight works on Xbox and PC. There's no concept of a separate digital PC-only release (unless they one day drop it on steam I guess). It's their "Play Anywhere" programme.

It's the same price on PC as is on Xbox, it's the same editions.
Regional pricing varies accordingly. Hong Kong or Singapore are the cheapest depending on which edition you're after. UK or Euro-based stores are the priciest.

Yeah, the pricing is exactly the same across both platforms. Ultimate Edition is £79.99 in the Xbox Store and the same in the Windows Store (because it is effectively the same product).

It's MS.

It will be. Identical pricing on consoles and Windows 10 for their own games. They can say it's because of play anywhere but Quantum Break wasn't play anywhere yet it was still 70€ on PC. It makes FH3 the most expensive mainstream PC game (exluding deluxe editions and special cases like games that sell 10k copies so they keep the price high because that's all they will ever sell). Although to be fair, it only ties with Quantum Break's launch price. QB is coming as a cheaper and better alternative to Steam late September though, and has recently had a price drop.

It's a shame at this price and being limited to Windows store the game probably won't sell very well on PC..they need to let their games thrive on steam.

Okay, just that with Quantum Break you could either buy the PC with no access to anything else or buy the Xbox One download and get a PC code. I just want the PC Forza.

At £50 I'm out until I see a code or something for £40 or under. £40 for a PC game is top end, anything more for a PC standard edition is crazy.

(Yes I know UK console digital pricing is traditionally £50

Can you buy from those stores?

If you have pre-paid gift card balance for those stores yes. Then you'd need to set your location to said region. Regardless of which store/region you buy a game from it's linked to your MS account which is global.

See: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=722968 for some ideas, it's mostly Xbox focused but with Windows 10 it works pretty much the same.

Quantum Break was a different case, they only offered the PC version with the Xbox purchase as a pre-order offer. With the "Xbox Anywhere" initiative Microsoft has unified the Windows 10/Xbox platforms as a whole in regards to their products so you buy it once and it works on both regardless of when you buy it. Forza is one of the first games that take advantage of that (I think soon released ReCore might be the first one).

QB was out before the 'Play Anywhere' program was in place. Now when you buy a MS game it's just linked to your account, there isn't a PC or Xbox code.

I doubt you'll find the game cheaper elsewhere. Just buy from the MS Hong Kong store it's about £39.

Seems they've killed the paypal method, so it's only gift cards now. Hmmm.

If it was truly play anywhere you'd get a PC code with the retail XBO version and I could buy it at sensible pricing.

There's been a few articles about UK console digital pricing with regards to not undercutting the high street and upsetting people. If this is the case the PC version is getting nerfed though excessive digital console pricing. £50 for standard PC is utterly ridiculous.

Brand new PC games are £30-40. Top pubs put their game on Steam at £40 and get 30% taken.

Charging £40 for digital on your own store is getting your cake and eating it

Charging £50 is getting your cake and eating plus getting another cake and scoffing it at the same time.

would struggle to convince myself to spend €70 on it as it is. oh well.

I've spent hundreds on iRacing so I've come to accept I have no issue paying for content. But alas, I understand your thoughts because PC games are usually far more affordable and I usually make a point to pay max 30€..

But racing games are my weakpoint :(

How much did you spend on your wheel?

They don't give you keys to avoid re-selling.

UK pricing being shit is separate story altogether.

Paid for the game via xbox.com last week, went to check the windows store (app) and this is all I get:

Nothing in my library showing that I own FH3 or can download it. I haven't installed the AU yet, would that have anything to do with it?

Any other game at £50 on PC and I would be out too. But this is Forza Horizon. I know I will get my money's worth if 2 is anything to go off.

I think that is exactly it. I don't have the AU installed and am seeing the same message. :(

I did try and install the update when it was released, but it fell over mid-way through to the point that I had to rollback to ver 1511. Might give it another (reluctant) try soon.

Does anyone know if you can gift Win 10 store stuff? I have a friend who would love this game and it would make a nice birthday present. Thing is if there is no physical release for the PC I have no idea how to get it for him.

I bought the game a while ago from HK store and I'm also not sure where and when I'll actually get access to it on PC. It shows up in the purchase history of the MS account but doesn't show neither in the Xbox app nor the win store.

E: nvm, it actually shows as owned since last time I checked in the WinStore.

E2: WAIT WAT the preload is already live?! Need to clean up the game SSD then. Totally missed out on the memo.

E3: Scratch that... it just downloaded a 5mb "placeholder" application...

I understand things change during development, but you think they'd avoid statements like

if they didn't know it was possible yet.

Yeah T10/PG should have been more clear it was pre-made routes that can be changed, not the actual routes themselves can be fully customized. Hopefully for FH4.

No gifting in that sense no. You could buy $ gift cards but that's it.

Depending on what edition you bought make sure you click that one.

(I've already clicked on the standard edition, notice how it says 'you own this product' on the left side)

When I click on the search result, it brings up the error page. I'm re-trying the Anniversary Update now, the things we do for Forza...

Well, it's still a lot cheaper than the euro price, UK digital prices are generally lower than rest of Europe. £50 is a bit less than 60€, FH3 standard edition is 70€.

No the £ is stronger than the euro hence its a lower number and euro blanket pricing is not our concern and more a euro zone thing with varying vat from 19-27%.

They don't give you keys to avoid re-selling.

Could be offered after you register the retail to said account.

Sooo what are the chances this comes to Steam at some point in the near future like QB? Really don't want to engage with the Windows Store nonsense but it's looking like the only option at the moment... :/
