Tales of Berseria launches on January 24

NOOOOO, that's bullsh*t! Why would they do something like that?

I have no idea, but I'm very unimpressed. They weren't explicit about that being the case, simply mentioning no CE in the EU PS Blog listing and now some smaller sites are reporting NA exclusivity.

I could have preordered to import but now I've lost out due to lack of communication in PR.

Maaaaaan, all these Japanese games in the January - February period NEED TO STOP. It's insanely ridiculous at this point, only game I still know for sure I'm getting Day One is Persona 5. No clue what the hell I'll do about everything else. Most likely not buying the majority of them until like August or September lmao.

January 2017 alone has potentially as many fantastic exclusives / semi exclusive games for ps4 than the whole of this year so far! Not that this year has been bad or anything (Uncharted 4 is my favorite game of the gen so far and I can't wait to play Dragon Quest Builders) - more like next year is going to be (finally) when ps4 really hits it's stride, with a nary a month without a potentially good / great exclusive game.

Did the Amazon listing for the Collector's Edition already go active and sell out or has it not gone live yet?

I didn't even see it there before but it's already in "email me" mode.

it went live sold and shipped by amazon, it sold out and now it is at gamestop, amazon has it but only with third party sellers, managed to get it sold and shipped by amazon the moment PS blog announced it

Ugh, this is the first time I'm frustrated about a cluster F of games in early part of 2017.

Still probably day one though. :x

As much as I want to play this game. Might be worth waiting for confirmation of 60fps and the game is stable on PC. If not, waiting until it's fixed might be worth it.

Oh wow, I didn't even see it in the search list on US Amazon until a few minutes ago, damn that went fast!

Thanks.
Put one in on Gamestop.

You fucked up, Namco. Is there some bet between Japanese publishers daring each other to release their biggest games on the same date in the U.S.?

You expecting FFXV to get delayed again?

I want the retro keychains pretty badly, but the CE price is way too steep for me, so normal edition it is. Can't wait for this to release, as the import impressions seemed pretty great!

Damn, I appreciate the quick localization time but that release window is packed.

Digimon World Next Order is also early 2017 iirc..

Well fuck. Guess KH2.8 and RE7 will have to wait a bit. I can manage getting this and GR2 at the same time but all of this plus the Feb games will destroy my wallet :(

So the LE already sold out from Amazon. That sucks. I've never ordered from the Namco Store, but do they charge right away and/or having shipping costs?

Edit: Ah nevermind, it's up on Gamestop.com, too.

Amazing. They're not doing great in Japan and they're planning to kill it in the West.

Is this technically true? Even on a decline, they seem to be one of the best JRPG selling games in Japan even if that may still not be much compared to the old days.

That is a noce list of games. Here is what you do. Make a list of your most wanted to least. Buy the top game and play it. Enjoy it best you can. When your done, pock up the next one. Oh look, its already 30% off. Or reviews are unknowingly nd to it and you changed your mind. Pock up the next. Oh look, the next one is now 50% off. Rinse and repeat.

There are enough games there to last you unt next Christmas. If you collect CE crap, well good luck i guess. =

You guys do realize you don't need to buy games at launch, right? They'll still exist later. Cheaper, even.

I honestly don't understand why this is such a big deal.

Really isn't about the "us" (we can control our wallets and buy whenever we want) so much as its an issue of saturating a time-frame with games that you'd, generally, want to sell at full price (and not deeply discounted bargain bin prices because no one bought your game because you released it along side thirty other products catering to a similar market segment). The audience is limited and this many titles in a short frame is going to pull that thin in a lot of ways.

These are games from a market that is already struggling domestically, has been struggling internationally, and now you're throwing it all on to one big pile. Might as well just lite it on fire and be done with it.

Fffffffuck...

Make that 9 games I'm looking to get that are releasing between January and February.

Looks like I'll be getting a lot at a discount for how long it'll be before I order some of them lmao

Zestiria kinda 'killed' the franchise for lots of people. It's mainly the cause of Berseria not doing well in Japan. Their releasing Berseria so close to many other Japanese games in January won't help the global sales.

Releasing Tales of Abyss the same month as FFXII was stupid. Having a release date between FF15 and Persona 5 is as good as it is going to get.

This thread reminded me about the sale on steam right now for Tales of Zestiria and Symphonia.

I've never played a tales of game. I can't stand generic stories. Are the stories generic or actually good?

Symphonia is a genuine good story that uses a few cliches. However, the battle system is quite dated if compared to recent Tales.

Zestiria has a modern battle system, however, the story is a throwback to the older ones so it's story is quite simple and generic.

I'm a sucker for Tales (even though I ended up hating the last like four games), but I think this will be the first one since Abyss on PS2 I won't buy on day one. The D1 editions end up in bargain bins three months after release anyway.

Oh who am I kidding

Thanks. I think I'll get Symphonia then. :)

Ugh too many games in so little time.

Gravity Rush 2
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8
Yakuza 0
Tales of Berseria
Nioh
Persona 5

Well guess I better start saving some money since I don't believe in pre-orders, so about $360.00 plus taxes...Thanks FF XV.

Oh wow, brilliant fucking time to release it. Just absolutely brilliant. I was already considering skipping this Tales game cause the franchise took a nosedive in quality, this just makes that decision easier.

I already have the game so I'll probably wait for a PC sale, but the date is cool. My birthday. :)

I liked this game quite a bit, first Japanese RPG on the PS4 that I've enjoyed to such a degree (though Persona 5 came out almost exactly one month later and I'm also liking that a lot, so they're coming). I'm not gonna say it's better than Vesperia in every area or tries to build on it directly in every area, because it's not/doesn't (and I'm fine with that for the most part), but of all the post-Vesperia games, if that's what you're looking for this is about as close as you're gonna get at the moment.

That's understandable but almost all impressions point to Berseria being a big return to form.

I am a huge Tales of series fan, really, big fan all the time
I buy everything day one, and i've been collecting merchandise for 11 years
I've played almost all of them, so i'll take the chance and give my opinion about this game

This is not Zestiria, nor Vesperia

Honeslty, i am an effing fanboy but i can admit Zestiria was a fucking mess, and even thou i always think people praise Vesperia more than they should, i do admit it's an excellent game.

Berseria is pretty good, i'm having way more fun with this game, even more than with symphonia and graces F, i've been having a bad time finding an annoying character in this game (i hate karol from vesperia, y hate pascal from garces F, i hate anise from abyss, almost evry game has 1 character at least that i hate) they all are... good characters actually.

The game is filled with sad moments, only as sad as they can be with a game with typical anime characters and typical anime drama, but sad in the end.

The game has great antagonists, great characters, and oh god, the battle system is amazing, i found myself just battling against random monster doing new combos, switching characters, and spamming mystic artes so much, it is really good

A bad thign i found in this game is that you have to sometimes backtrack a lot, and i mean A LOT

Spoilers:
there is one moment in which you come back to the place where Velvet was being kidnapped, you have tog o outside and back to the whole around 4 times, but you walk a lot, and i mean A LOT only to have one skit and then come back, that was annoying
The good thing?
you get an effing hoverboard, so cool

They improved the skill system (similar to vesperia), the weapons (basic customization) more mini games, more accesories, 60 FPS in battle as it should be, this is what Zestiria should have been, this is what a lot of Tals of games should have been.

Somethign else i found bad in this game is there are again open fields, huge opne fields, but this time they put more monsters in them, so it makes it easier to play, and the battle system makes it even better

Honestly, it might not be the best game in there, but there is one thing i can honestly tell to those who are hesitant about bying it tahnks to the bad experience with zestiria:

They did it right this time, not perfect, but in comparison, the game is good, really, relaly good.

Give it a chance, i know the bad taste from zestiria is annoying, but this is not Zestiria, this is not Graces F, this is not Vesperia, this, honestly, is one of the best Tales of games released in a long, LONG time.
