MS didn't win because of the UHD player, but the UHD player would of made up for a large amount of sales of the console. Right, ok.

Personally, I see the UHD player making up a lot of sales just for being the cheapest 4K player which can be sold and bundled nicely with a new TV.

MS won due to the UHD Blu Ray player?
Nope.
The UHD Blu Ray player contributed to the good numbers of Xbox One in the US?
Most probably.
Is this a difficult scenario to accept?
Yeah, you're right. I'm just being arsey. This is what he posted:
I'm confused. That pretty much says the same thing as Elandyll but not as in depth. UHD was a factor for the success of XB1 but not the reason it won.
A quick glimpse at Amazon's best sellers list the last few days is looking bleak for a repeat for October. I feel it'll be a fairly large drop
We fucking did it Microsoft!

Didn't it look like PS4 won in Sept also though?
Yeah, you're right. I'm just being arsey.
Id say it was probably the biggest factor, as said above but nether the less, it's good to see a healthy console market.
this time the X1 is barely hitting the top 100 for, at least, this week.Yeah Amazon had PS4 winning in September which didn't end up being accurate. Not saying that Xbox will take October but Amazon ranking isn't definitive
These threads are always about U.S , which is still the biggest market I believe.I mean it still won't narrow the absolutely huge gap in sales with the PS4 but good for them I suppose. Just a shame it took them 3 years to get to this point.

I mean the manufacturing cost of PS4 slim must be lower, Sony can undercut OneS if they really want to take NPD again.
Don't know why they are unwilling to be aggressive on price.
I don't think the pro is going to really change anything. The die hard sony fans will buy it but the general public doesn't seem to have any interest in it, providing they even know it exists. Even games media isn't overly excited for it. If it underperforms it will be interesting to see what Microsoft does with Scorpio.
Sony was up to the same shady shit but they marketed theyre way around it once they saw the fallout. Microsoft wont recover the lead sony built but they have done a pretty good job at repairing their public image. They are clearly trying to rebuild the brand to make sure it hits really strong by the time next gen is upon us.

Phil's first real console, it's gaining mindshare with gamers, which translates into expectation and excitement for his Scorpio project. If they keep it up, they'll be a strong position for Scorpio release.I mean it still won't narrow the absolutely huge gap in sales with the PS4 but good for them I suppose. MS slowly closing the gap, but not by much, in the U.S it's over a million, and I think they shaved off 150k with last few months. Holiday season should be fairly even unless Sony doesn't budge on price cuts and deals. And then it might be dry again for MS for a while come January, that's been the trend almost since launch. MS does well in Q3 and amazing in Q4, and then almost horrible in Q1 & Q2. The cycle will just continue if they don't reverse the trend somehow.
Correct. The relative US Amazon rankings did not not correctly pick the winner for September.
I believe this is only the third time this has happened this generation.
When it has happened, if memory serves, it was also due to specific stores running very agressive deals (Gamestop trade in, Target price/ giftcard, BB with TV, etc) and/or Amazon running out of stock on a popular sku which then would skew the rankings in favor of a PS4 sku.And interestingly enough I think it's been every time it was wrong was an Xbox month. I guess just Amazon draws a slightly higher percentage of Playstation sales than retail

This is probably untrue bullshit that has been debunked many times but thanks to shitty journalists like Adam Sessler and Ben Kuchera who showed their true colors during the XB1 announcement cycle some people still believe it. smh
Yep it was not true when the PS4 was revealed, it was not true during XB1's drm fiasco.

Go on. He calls the shots, he signs off the specs and steers the business. Any success or failure is on him. He said HE decided not to launch Scorpio this year, he wanted a significant jump, what's wrong with attributing critical decisions that make up the product to Phil? If you mean its not one man and involves a collection of bright individuals that would be true, but they're under his leadership and guidance, I don't think it's unreasonable to owe all that to him.Oh come on now.
With Pro NX and Scorpio looming things will be very interesting in the next year.

I think Xbox will have the rest of 2016 at NPD.
1000%.
People down play it here, but obviously it was a big deal.
How many of these Xbox One S serve only as UHD players ? I wonder if that average game attach rate went down since
Many PS3s were sold as BD players only, same with PS2 for cheap DVD
XBO-S is the cheapest UHD player by far
Is there year over year NPD hardware numbers? That alone should indicate whether Xbox One is gaining, or if people are waiting on PS4 Pro.
It most certainly helped though.
You gotta figure that the features and price point of the Xbox One S made it an attractive purchase for 1) people who want to upgrade their OG xb1, 2) price concious folks who hadn't yet gotten a current gen console 3) ps4 users who want a second console
For any of these people, the UHD drive could have been the push they needed that edged buyers to choose it over the competition.
I think there was a post that these people were quoting on why if Xbox were to die off, it wouldn't be bad for us.
All three 8th gen systems are down YoY. We don't know by how much though since we won't get numbers until later.
As of August though:
2015
PS4: 1,976,700

WIU: 484,000
2016
