That unveiling was an absolute disaster.

the reveal video was fine - it was an all right showcase of the different concepts of the gamepad. what was confusing was specifically reggie's messaging during e3, and what compounded everything was just how poorly nintendo followed up on it the next year.

almost every single thing that could have gone wrong with the wii u went wrong. i'd say the preview video itself was generally okay though.

Rewatching it, I thought that 3 minutes would never end.

So, theoretically, they could get a lot across tomorrow during those 3 minutes. As long as they're not awful.

Miis, NSMB, the Balance Board. Wii Sports, more damn Miis... Man, were they announcing a freaking new console or an add-on for the Wii? "New Controller" for what? for Wii or what?? Oh and let's not forget the whole year of radio silence from Nintendo after that AND the way E3 2012 went after the long wait for new info. Just awful and now I'm actually kinda scared they will repeat all this stuff all over again D:

edit: I just watched the Wii U reveal 3 minute video, no wonder people got confused, unless you watched the whole presentation or followed gaming news you'd have no idea it was a new console just from that 3 minute video.

saw this on 4chan, what do you make of it.

Looks very real for a devkit! It corresponds to everything the rumors have been suggesting so far. The dual coax ports are obviously for wifi and bluetooth. The WiiU devkit had that too, to be replaced with wireless in the retail units. (This suggests that, like the WiiU, you will be able to stream video to/from the base wirelessly) There's even a vent on the top for the rumored active cooling. Obviously that's not the final form factor (it's a devkit, duh), but there's nothing to suggest that this isn't the real deal!

I watched that a few weeks ago and came away with a complete understanding of why some really thought that it was a controller add-on. There's never a closeup of the Wii U in the video, and from a distance it just looks quite similar to the Wii. They also never mention that it's a new console in the video. Every piece of text is "the New Controller". This is how it ended

No closeup of the console itself at the end along with the controller just makes no sense. This is as close as they got to the console in the video.
