In theory that's a really solid list. The question is, how quickly do all the big US third parties abandon ship? Last time it was, what, less than a year?

I hope that EA publishes at least one Star Wars game on this thing before they jump ship.

PLEASE I need portable Star Wars.

Great list

Not really. A lot of people will triple dip just to have a handheld version of Skyrim, GTA, DarK Souls, etc

This will actually have great 3rd party support. Very smart move by Nintendo tbh

Why leave money on the table like that?

True that.

Given how beefy the NX appears to be, I imagine the PS4 and NX will be sharing a very extensive Japanese 3rd party support library (kind of like how the Vita and PS4 sort of has that relationship), since well, little point in leaving money on the table if you can cheaply port to multiple skus (and supposedly, porting to or from the NX isn't too difficult). Unless Nintendo or Sony plans on paying every Japanese 3rd party to be exclusive to their system, which I doubt. I expect Japanese developers to be far less monogamous this generation compared to before, where they often developed exclusively for 1 system because they could. The NX wouldn't really hold games back like trying to release a game on the 3DS and other consoles would, so one could easily do so since they'll likely have HD assets prepped and ready anyways.

The exceptions of course would be series like Monster Hunter, where one will be damn sure Nintendo will do whatever it takes to keep that series exclusive.

I have no intentions of picking up Skyrim, but if it comes with motion controls (split controller support), I'll be there day one.

Here's hoping we'll get some Resident Evil love from Capcom. VII looks pretty well and hey... there was that registration thingy where it is mentioned that it uses carts as optic media, right?

Are you guys that confident that we'll be seeing another Metal Gear game on a Nintendo console let alone Snake on Smash?

I just don't know what else to expect from Konami, other then them wanting to make money and I think they could profit with Metal Gear. Its mostly just speculation on my part.

I'll take Yugioh honestly

The biggest thing from this, IMO, is Epic Games. That means UE4.

That means...

Kingdom Hearts 3
Street Fighter V
Final Fantasy VII Remake

and much much more. Hell, maybe even an Abzu port.

I see that the actual NX reveal hasn't stopped the crazy.

There's no reason why Atlas wouldn't put every single upcoming game they have on the Switch. Like their own quote, their games are just perfect for the kind of experience Switch aims to provide.

And yet Atlus will not put every single upcoming game on Switch. That's not how these things work. Wish I could find that Duckroll post about this from recently. That said I expect SMTV.

I'm probably in the minority that's a little sad to not see SNK up on there.

Still this is great. A lot of those companies like Square-Enix were always on board with Nintendo more for the handheld side of things. They probably see this as a "two birds one stone" kind of thing. In SE's case it's probably like "Hey we can make Bravely Default 3 as if it were a 3DS title that can ALSO be played like a console title."

But will they really do that? The development coats of an NS game will be much higher than for a 3DS game. So they won't just put the handheld games on the NS if they aren't sure they sell extremly well. In the WORST CASE SCENARIO Nintendo loses even the third party developer that always supported their handhelds when their games dont sell well...

Sillicon Studio is also on the card in the op, so yeah; that's probably going to happen.

I expect several handheld games going to Switch like Ace Attorney, SMT mainline, other weird 3DS games: would be cool.

I honestly cant see it getting many western ports of current gen games.

We will need more numbers to judge but I get the impression its a slightly more powerful Wii U on the go. Thats great but it probably be playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on the go.

Would love to see Persona 5. Persona is always great as a portable game. Since its already a PS3 game I dont see why it couldnt do it.

I could totally see Nintendo + FROM making a Nintendo exclusive Souls-like. Seems like a style that Nintendo only people might love.

Indie games as well. This could replace my Vita as my go to indie machine.

And yeah. Lets see how many of the developers on that list actually announce a game. Nintendo and 3rd parties are weird. Curious what, if anything EA tries out.

We don't really know the terms of SFV's exclusivity deal, except it can't go to Xbox One.

We know Sony has and is putting a lot of money behind it. It's not coming to Switch either. Having said that, I fully expect Tekken 7 on it. Seems like a given. I'd also kill for a Guilty Gear Xrd port.

This is the mergence of their handheld and console sectors. Do you think Nintendo will unveil a successor to the 3DS now?

Or a refined, smaller model of Switch, only because you can't put a Switch in your pocket, yes.

There may be handheld-style games on Switch, but I think its raison d'être will be traditional console titles.

Given the increased development costs, and how Nintendo's treating this like a home console, publishers and developers likely do the same as well. Publishers almost never release console games as an exclusive unless the console owner steps up and funds the game or pays them to be exclusive. I expect the same here for Japanese third parties. To make back costs, you'll likely see them release elsewhere when they can (like say onto PC for instance, something a lot of them are jumping onto), and if they can. If one wants to buy the NX, it should be primarily for the fact that it has Nintendo exclusives and has handheld/console hybrid capabilities, and not for exclusive 3rd party support.

That said, Nintendo will make damn sure that certain 3rd party series like Monster Hunter never leaves their ecosystem. And I don't think Japanese third party support will ever abandon Nintendo either as is your worst case scenario

All Nintendo console got RE love, Wii and WiiU, and even 3DS I can see RE7 and RE2 RM happening

Also we have to remember these publishers dont have to make games for two Nintendo systems now too, so all resources goes to one, which is why I dont think the list is gonna end up being false

I'm expecting some ridiculously late port of Dark Souls 2 or whatever, but I'm also having some fun imagining Bayonetta 2 tier meltdowns if there was an exclusive Souls-like game for Switch.

The Souls game for Switch will just be Scholar of the First Sin.
That would be a fun meltdown to watch.

This is the dream, really, but that's so unlikely it's (almost) not worth getting hyped over. A Dark Souls 3 port "definitive edition" would be a lovely compromise, and/or any future From titles.

Either way, I hope the partnership materialises in some way.

Gonna pretend we did not see this same screen of "partners" at the start of Wii U and be hopeful... again.

But I fully expect these companies latest games to be dropped on the Switch. Be that remasters ala Skyrim, re-releases MGSV, or w/e the current hotness is for them.
