I find it amusing that JP 3DS software sales are massively down YOY despite the presence of Yokai Watch 3 to cushion the blow, while in America and Europe Pokemon, Kirby, and Nintendo Selects boosted first party 3DS software YOY. Though the lack of third party info for the west muddles things, but I doubt it's too significant either way. Really goes to show how hard it is to sell old software in Japan.

That would mean that the price drop did basically nothing, it was 20k before the recent drop (well, it was dropping little by little, but it was hovering around 20k).

Yep, i don't think anything outside of a significant price drop and bigger game titles will do much for boosting sales at this time, Pro orders are sold out as well so we have a while until we see any major growth outside of the slim model

How did you figure that out?

?

Japan <-> US <-> EU

Thanks to Pokemon Go preorders of Sun and Moon are substantically higher than Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in US/EU.

Not in Japan however. Japandeath continues

Umm... YW 3 is one of the underperforming title though? So it is not shocking to see the YoY drop quite bad.

Nintendo released the Financial Results Briefing. This year they changed the format and I can't copy paste the photos.
Anyway, Miitopia is still announced as a 2016 big holiday title in Japan lol

Lol I'm late

Interesting huh. Miitopia seems to had tons of confidence behind Nintendo here.

YW 3 is still bigger than any 3DS game released in America/Europe during the same time period. It's "amusing" that the region that got a big game released is the 3DS's weakest performing region at the moment.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Eh....obv. i would expect a complete new game to attract more people than remakes of the worst gen lol. Its still good news but not that noteworthy in my opinion. Then again Remake sell nearly as much as Maintitles nowadays.

Yokai Watch starting stronger in Europe than Japan...

heh...um...yea....

? YW does start damn slow in Japan though. They actually did really well in Europe there just like how Tomodachi Collection did super well in Europe.

I disagree. For new 3DS owner, Nintendo selects title is much bigger deal for them rather than YW 3.

How did you figure out the new Ps4s baseline is 20k without any evidence or the weekly numbers coming close to that number.

Wait...Sun/Moon preorders in Japan are falling closer to not X/Y, but ORAS preorders? Was ORAS actually close to X/Y in preorders, cause if not that sounds bad.

.

I know, it just feels like the 3DS vs DS launch aligned comparisons when the DS was about to take off. Like yea....it's ahead.

Ohhh. I see where you come from. But i do see the potential of YW doing really well on Europe there. It seems to be a very wanted product there.^_^

With the Switch presentation in January and it probably coming out in March, will we actually see a week where the Xbox One outsell the Wii U in Japan?

They're not. Generally only certain large electronics retailers in major city centres like Yodobashi carry it.

I think Xbox One hardware can be seen usually at some big stores, especially now that the price cut is kind of very attractive way to get people. What certainly is almost impossible to see is space for software. It's ridiculous how low is the number of stores that have space for One games.

SAO has been a goldmine for BNGI. It's like Japan's Assassin's Creed. The novel continues to chart top three every year so it seems BNGI has got quite a few good year ahead of them too. I wonder how much did they pay for the license.

I would assume they already have the license for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics?

Indeed YW1 is performing well outside Japan.
I think Nintendo shipped 630K units in 2015 (America and Australia).

I never see it at places like Edion, Aeon, Tsutaya, Geo, Bic or Yamada Denki. The giant Yodobashi outside Kyoto station is literally the only place in Kyoto/Shiga I can recall seeing a section for it. Same goes for Osaka, though I haven't looked very hard there.

MH XX announced for 3DS - March 17th 2017 release date.

Anyone else still think this isnt hitting Switch as well ?

I just find it strange as to why they didn't just wait till the Jan 12th event to announce both versions if it was launching simultaneously with switch.

They want to open pre-orders for the 3DS version on November 10th.
And also they want to make events from november. It's not Capcom fault if Nintendo doesn't want to announce anything for the Switch xD

Dont expect any non-Switch talk during the January conference - this isnt the event to mention WiiU eShop games or upcoming 3DS games. This will be 100% Switch related.

So yeah they had to get the news out the door now. MH Stories and budget MHX are supposed to sell this holiday season as well - knowing that you will be able to transfer data to the upcoming game is another purchase incentive.
