What's your thoughts about the game so far? The demo was...okay? Didn't really sell me on it, though.

It's not great. I'll be honest about that. What it does well though is immerse you in the environment. The above mentioned scene was bustling with activity. Very surreal activity. It stopped seeming like a horror title at that point and more like a view into a dark social underbelly. I have the particular experience recorded if you'd like to see for yourself.

I wouldn't tell you to go buy it just yet, either. I will wait to complete it before I give it any sort of real endorsement.

Also finally got to play more Tethered today. I am so bad at it (lots of Peeps throwing themselves into the abyss :((() but it's so adorable and fun, can't do anything but love it

I think I'm one of the lucky ones in this thread. Aside from controller drift in Playroom on day 1, I've not had any other drift to speak of

I'm not having any major drift issues either. In some apps I do have to recenter once in a while, but it never ends up as bad as some people have reported here.

It'd be easier for me to list what I didn't buy for PSVR, I think. I didn't buy Battlezone or Eve Valkyrie, Ace Banana, the Penguin game, Carnival Games, the Hustle Kings VR DLC, and that fortune telling/astrology thing. Edit: haven't grabbed Weeping Doll, either!

I've bought everything else, played or tried most of it, and have been thoroughly impressed and enjoyed most of it. Never spent this much on any other hardware launch, and doubt I ever will again. Not that most console launches have this level of support, let alone add-on peripherals.

I'm using my headset the same as I did on day 1. That is, an hour or two per day. Not overdoing it. I'm still more than happy playing a few rounds of Tumble or Tethered and then turning it off in favor of a non-VR game. Just because you want to play something that isn't VR related, doesn't mean the honeymoon period is over.

No Rigs? It's a solid fps, and the presentation + 3v3/competitive nature makes it feel more like Rocket League than Call of Duty.

I've considered RIGS but i've never been into FPS other than their single player mode - I don't play any online FPS at all. Still worth a try??

I'm just waiting for my local store to get more PSVRs in stock so I can go exchange my unit for one with less drift and a non-tilted picture. Failing that I'm just gonna ask for a full refund.

Mistakenly posted this in the review thread so here I go again.
Had my premiere yesterday and was wondering: Is there a difference between the games on the demo disc and the full games? Just tried Water World and it was not bad when it comes to blurriness. Tumble was a bit worse but still tolerable. But RIGS blurriness was really off-putting to the point where I couldn't read the enemies names in the distance.

As I just opened my VR yesterday I haven't messed around with it too much, and I knew going in that the picture wasn't going to be as sharp an on TV, but still.
I went through all settings and calibrations in hopes of fixing it (the ones mentioned in the OP too), even adjusting the eye to eye distance.

Tracking seems to be good though.

I think you're the first one I see with a list longer than mine. And it's twice as long.

Last I count, I was at 17 titles.
 
After playing all the games on the demo disc multiple times, reading reviews, and figuring out the best bang for the buck I decided on:

Tumble VR
Batman VR
Harmonix VR
Rush of Blood

I have my eye on 3-4 more that are overpriced for what you get IMO and will grab them on sale or after a price drop.

I inititally thought mine was tilted, but it ended up I just didn't have it on straight enough. Do we even know if swapping helps? Do we know if it's camera of PSVR to blame? Is one camera more likely to drift than another (ie v1 vs v2)?

Welp, I'm selling my PSVR. Half the games make me sick, the other half I can only play for short bursts before feeling 'spacey'. I'll revisit it in a couple of years maybe.

I've been blown away with the PSVR. Yes, tracking issues are quite annoying, but I've not experienced anything too bad that made me stop playing. Hell, I can spin out, crash and drive with my head sitting out the window in Driveclub and not feel a thing. I've started to neglect my non-VR games.

I'm getting a Pro this month so i couldn't splurge out and these games plus the demo disc and apps have kept me more than preoccupied.

Seriously, RIGS is so fucking good. The online has made it really hard for me to go back to single player. It's still not heavily populated, but I'm at least regularly getting 2v2 and 3v2 going on, so things are improving. The gameplay is just so incredibly well done.

I'm trying to go for the platinum so I'm going to be playing single player for a while before I jump online.

I've won the top league and got the top gun award but I still need to win all 3 tournaments, win the league at the same time and then grind to become an A list celeb.

I'm part of the problem but once all that's done, I'll be online always.

Am I the only one who doesn't have any issues with setup or getting it to 'just work'? I've got my camera always plugged in and never need to move it, I keep the chunky wire in a draw below where my PS4 is and the headset in a box next to it.

Plug in wire, plug in headset, put headset on, VR time.

I've had no issues with setup, drifting or sickness.
I played RIGS for 3 hours straight on the weekend too.

I guess I'm lucky and so glad that I am.

Doesn't matter how much I adjust it or fiddle with the calibration options, my view in cinematic mode and all in-game menus are always tilted about 5 degrees to the right. I don't know whether swapping will help, but it's either that or ask for a full refund, and I'd rather give PSVR another chance since it would be a great system if it just worked properly.

The drift isn't caused by the camera since it also occurs in cinematic mode, which does not use the camera at all.

Wayward Sky and Hatsune Miku. Probably will pick up Wayward Sky this week, but doubt I'll play Hatsune. Just not my thing.

For what it's worth VR Future Live is not really a game, and I definitely would never recommend it to anyone who is not an actual Miku fan. If you buy it thinking it's a rhythm game you will be disappointed, because it barely is.

Tumble VR I believe is the hidden gem. The presence of the blocks make it seem like they're actually in front of you.

The first time I tried rigs it made me kinda nauseous so haven't tried it since. Maybe today's the day...

If you don't have Until Dawn, it's the best experience yet.

I may have spent far too much money. I've pretty much enjoyed them all though. The titles I've enjoyed the most I put in bold. Only one that didn't grab me was Weeping Doll.

I've not had any issues with tracking either. I had one issue on day one where I didn't realised sunlight could affect the stuff working, closed the blinds and it's been perfect since.

The tracking in PIXEL GEAR is out of this world. This dev needs to give/sell/whatever their code to anyone making a game that uses moves.

It's... night and day better then other games.

I wonder if its because the game is so simple graphics-wise so they have more overhead for Move tracking, or if their code is genius?

It's 100% the gyro tracking. If I cover up the light on the move, or turn around so the cam can't pick it up, it will get a little jumpy in terms of moving from spot to spot, but the gyro tracking still stays perfect, every subtle move of my hand is detected, but it never moves on its own or get shaky, it was really incredible.

Edit - Modus, I finally got a little flow going in VEV last night. It was a combo of turning up the camera speed, and playing "soil" (the fact that the energy bits glow really helped. I think my big issue with the game is that energy goes down pretty quickly (especially once you get past soil) so I thought that energy was supposed to be everywhere, and I couldn't understand why I couldn't find any. Now I get that I will have to search for it and the game makes more sense. At least in soil. In blood I still die in like 30 seconds. Game has incredible atmosphere. I had a fun moment where I noticed the bokeh effect and was like "I remember when Modus taught himself to do that for that one theme!!"

I had a blast on Pixel Gear - it's pretty good and cheap...and like you say, the tracking is awesome.
 
Just acquired a swivel chair and removed the armrests..... Big improvement over the normal chair I've been using and it allows me to adjust easily to the drift that happens in some games.
 
I think this has been a fantastic launch. There is a great variety of experiences and everything feels so new. The demo disc was essential. I still have yet to play everything, and haven't gone past surface level on these.

Waiting on Amazon for Rigs and Until Dawn ROB... got in before the 20% disappeared but man, hate having to wait on these. Anyone else in this boat? Might have to hunt down a friend with GCU.

We had a lot of tracking and drifting issues on the first night at a friend's house but I was pleased to discover it was environmental. No problems in 2 locations after, most importantly my house.

Game thoughts:

Seeing Thumper's level 1 boss on normal TV, I couldn't believe how small he looked and how flat the game felt. VR is so additive to this and Rez...

Driveclub was a huge disappointment. Just awful visuals I can't even look at. I'll wait for GT Sport...

The Until Dawn ROB demo was a pleasant surprise. Went in not expecting much, but found it gross and a lot of fun.

VR Worlds is a good disc for sharing the experiences. Ocean Descent is a great first VR experience. Dangerball is excellent and should be broken out as its own game and expanded further. London Heist is fun to mess around in and talk smack to the characters. Died several times in the car part.

Pretty happy that Playroom VR is free. Robot Rescue (platformer) is a hell of a proof of concept. I want LBP in VR right now. The rest of them are fun enough once or twice.

Haven't forced myself through the Kitchen demo yet. Maybe tomorrow.

My library so far with short thoughts...

Batman VR - the praise is justified, the first game I tried which sold me on the hardware

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood - I haven't made it too far into it, because it honestly freaks me out, but it's a solid game.

Rigs - My favorite game. I can play this for hours with no nausea after turning off "comfort" settings. Love love love it.

Wayward Sky - bought this by mistake, got it confused for Windlands. But I really like it and I'm glad to have it.

Windlands - The only VR game that turns my stomach a little. The immersion is fantastic.

Tethered - My second favorite behind Rigs. Super charming.

Keep Talking and No One Explodes - A neat party game that has more legs than I expected. Solid purchase.

VR Worlds - London Heist is incredibly great. The only real stinker is the Luge game. Give me more Heist and Scavenger!

Job Simulator - Bought for the kids and haven't played it much. Very cute and weird humor; I like watching them play.

Pixel Gear - Solid shooting and excellent tracking, but ultimately pretty shallow. Had I known you are fixed in place, I wouldn't have bought it.
 
Does anyone else find that switching to the HDMI channel on your TV takes longer now its running through the extra box?
It used to be pretty much instant when it was directly connected to the PS4, but now theres a delay when switching over. Not sure if its just me or anyone else though.

Just quoting myself here to see if anyone else has seen this? :)

My cousin had one a year ago that was "broken".

The back rest broke off... so it was just the sitting part.... man I told him don't get rid of it, it'll be perfect for VR. I would've taken it from him I didn't get distracted with life and forgot about it. Needless to say, he threw it out. :/
 
Strange to see not a lot of people have Battlezone. When I tried it out in store it was a ton of fun and it'll be a day one purchase for me

Some thoughts on my current collection:

Driveclub - My favorite so far. The low rendered resolution is disappointing. But with a good wheel setup, wow, you are actually driving a car and it feels great to just cruise around on a empty track. Tons of content, budget pricing. Unfortunately for the game, it's prone to bad first impressions with low resolution and motion sickness.

Rigs - Great. Visually very clean. Lots to do with trials, leagues, tournaments, and unlockables. Could use some more arenas and modes. Looking forward to the online challenges being enabled.

Until Dawn - Really fun to play through. It checks off several boxes at once: dual wield shooting, rollercoasters, horror. Some enemies and bosses are a bit too bullet sponge-y. This could also use a resolution bump.

Batman - Incredibly short if you are blowing through the story. But trying to discover everything is legitimate fun and adds to the play time quite a bit.

Super Stardust - Looks fantastic in VR. Invasion mode is fun too and has it's own strategies for success. The PR for this game dropped the ball here, they really should have pushed that the ENTIRE game is in VR, not just the new mode.

Tumble - Having a lot more fun here than I did with 3D+move on PS3.

Rush of Blood has managed to take the cake for the scariest game I've played in quite some time... Not in the sense of having things I haven't seen before, but in the sense of unexpectedly appearing in my face and overloading my senses.
I played through to the part where you fight a giant spider at the end, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't freak out a bit when I was swarmed by little spiders after killing it. The boss fight with the weird looking nurse in the prior level was pretty damn freaky too when she was just erratically teleporting around the room while contorting and then is suddenly right in my face.

I came downstairs after playing it and told my wife about the encounters. She said, "Yep, I am NEVER playing that game. No thanks." lol.

I think that's really more of just a balanced view. World of Final Fantasy pulled me back to traditional TV gaming, but I'm a big fan of JRPGs and Japanese games in general, so FFXV and The Last Guardian are still big ticket games for me.

However, stuff like Batman and upcoming games like Robinson: The Journey are still pretty compelling arguments for what VR can do that regular display-based games can't.

I can't get back into 2D TV gaming right now because I LOVE VR so much at the moment. But I've been quietly telling myself that this is not natural. I'm not suppose to like VR games this much more than traditonal 2D TV gaming.

So when my love for VR falls a bit, I'm telling myself now that this is okay and to enjoy The Last Guardian, Tomb Raider, and Battefield 1 all this holiday season.

I'm trying to tell myself now that VR is an "additional" way to game and not a replacement. Gotta keep myself in check or I may lose true perspective on what VR is for the gaming sector.

For me the ironic thing about VR that holds me back from saying that "This is the future that will replace traditional games" is that the one genre I thought would be a no-brainer, a traditional first person game, is just not that viable at the moment once you throw in traditional movement. Games like COD and Destiny are the big hits right now, but if, once you throw players into a VR version, there's a big slice of players that can't tolerate it because of motion sickness, that's an issue.

I don't know whether that's a matter of "Get 'em while they're young," and let people get their VR legs from as young an age as possible to develop a tolerance, or whether there's still just a technical issue to be overcome, but that really is VR's big challenge for getting the mainstream, aside from the currently kind'a steep price of admission. There's no point in being able to afford something if it's going to make you sick, and the FPS style experiences most people are used to fall in that category for the moment.

I would like to see a hybrid between 1st and 3rd person. 3rd for movement that switches to 1st when aiming down the sights or when at specific trigger points. There are probably lots of creative solutions that will spur new genres. I have faith that given enough time and motivation developers will nail it, and it will be awesome.

Game is weird, I get it in concept but I cant pass the first sample. Like energy is so far away and whenever I found some it was guarded by other bacteria. Then I was just chased to death by some after I stole some of their energy.

What am I missing?
